This has probably already been asked, but I would like to know what everyone thinks. It's to close to call for me, but if forced to choose i go with SRL because of the battles he was in and also the competition he faced not to mention he is one of my favorite fighters. THOUGHTS.
Floyd may also have the skills of Ray, but the comparison ends there.
Floyd was always so defensive, he's boring to watch, and he didn't really fight the best opposition... plus, the fact that he shamelessly avoided Margarito doesn't do any good for his rep.
Ray Leonard, was defensive, but history tells us that he has the tendency to throw boxing out of the window and get into exciting fights.. real macho fights with the best - Duran, Hearns, Benitez
PBF vs. SRL, would Jr. have fared better than his father?
PBF would've prolly stank the house down with his dancing, SRL would've prolly tried to make a fight out of it.. i dunno.
i think's it's pick em kinda fight, but i'm leaning more on SRL on this fantasy matchup.
Why not???
How about we have Jesse Owens race Usain Bolt while were at it.
Kinda catch my drift.
Not really. Maybe you passed gas? Is that what you call a drift on your planet?

Cotto have all the tools to make Margarito look like Mayorga. The thing is that Cotto is a bit arrogant andd took Margarito like he was a average fighter(wich skills wise he is)an that was a mistake. Cotto didnt train that well, he was training alone, because he was fighting with his entire corner(Cotto is a stuburn SOB), I hear that he was drinking in Vegas 3 days before the fight(True Story), plus he didnt had a plan for Margarito, he tought he would off steamroll through Margarito, and he was far from it.
Now going into the rematch, he only needs to fix a few things, like circle MArgarito instead of going straight forward to the ropes, Go foward, he was back pedaling the whole fight. People here think that, going forward is a mistake, but Ive seen Margaritos entire career and he have problems with people going foward, he doesnt know how to back up, or defend himself when he is in trouble. By going forward he will open ways to hit Margo to the body(something Margarito doesnt like), and clinch whenever he gets traped on the ropes. Plus conserve a little energy the first couple of rounds. Cotto knows he will win the first couple of rounds easily because Margo is a slow starter, so whygo and let everything out the first 3 rounds. Ultimately I think Cotto will win a comftrable UD like 116-112 or better.
Freddie Roach seemed to think Cotto didn't have a plan either.
Any word on the family situation?
One thing I would be concerned about his his Mental status and if he isn't 100% there, how is he going to be at his best Physically?
I hope he has everything together. Cool guy.
Well Sugar Ray did cream Floyd's dad in a welterweight non-title bout.
(Check out the combo at 5.11)

If you see the entire fight, you would notice that senior has a lot of the same defensive moves as his son-such as the shoulder roll....
Bro, I give credit were credit is due!!!!!!!!!!!!
Seems ur a Cotto fan and to go off on a tangent here, how'd u think a rematch with Marg goes? I think he can beat him. He boxed his ears off in that fight but wilted under the punishment. With a revised strategy he'll show Marg for what he is; a tough fighter who really isnt that brilliant.
It would obviously be held at 147: SRL is favored...as well as Tommy Hearns...and SRR.
Floyd started to suck overall as a boxer at 147 because he was Mr. More Cautious.
I think people are remembering the 130-140 pound version to much. This fight will be at 147 so we should base it on that.
@147 the fight is barely competitive. Leonard is what Mayweather wishes he was when he goes to sleep at night.
It would be very competitive, but Leonard by UD or SD. He is bigger, punches harder, quicker hands (I think). And if Floyd could get the best of him in a boxing match, Leonard could turn it into a fight. Though I doubt Floyd would really outbox him.
I agree!!!!!!!!!!!
im glad u agree! haha
Very well said. Bless Pacquio's heart but he aint no Sugar Ray Leonard. Not only was he a beast physically, he had GREAT ring generalship, he defeated the great Roberto Duran MENTALLY (the type of mental pressure ALI would press on his opponents), and he was the bigger guy at 5'10 defeating the reinning middleweight championship Hagler.
No comparsion, he might even embarrase Pretty Boy Floyd. With that said, you don't know until both fighters step in the ring. Did Leonard fight better opponents? Of course, that also made him step up his skill and mental determination. If Floyd belonged to the 80s, who knew how great he could be.
Floyd is in a strange position. He has the opportunity to fight more DANGEROUS fighters, but not more skillful fighters. Like I have said before, in my eyes SRL is an ATG and PBF is a hall of famer. In order for Floyd to secure his legacy as an ATG he needs to defeat Miguel Angel Cotto, and if it is close defeat him in a rematch, AND defeat Pac Man (which I think he does pretty handly)
U make sum excellent points, who knows how Floyd would fair had he competed in the enviroment that SRL and the other late 70's and 80's greats did. I think hes too quick for an excellent, methodical but comparitively slow Cotto and posively too ring smart for Pacman but whether he could do the same to Hearns and Leornard, who knows. Im not sure.
I agree but even Roach im sure would agree that Pacman (and im a big fan of the filipino maestro) aint SRL.

Of course not!!!!!!!!!
Haha well i respect PBF alot for his unquestionable skills but P4P I dont think he could hang with some of the very best there have been. Hes shown weaknesses against lesser fighters that could have been exposed by historys best
