You network sheep aren't allowed.I'm talking about the true fans that have watched and supported the sport of boxing for many a year.
Tonight Mayorga will compete in a MMGAY bout against a glass jawed grappler by the new of Din Thomas.
Mayorga already has one point on the board after nearly rendering the glass jawed MMGAY fighter unconscious with a simple flick - seen here @ 9.15
I have never considered myself a true fan of Mayorga, but he represents the sport of boxing against evil tonight.
The MMGAY community is still seething after old man,geritol-swigging Ray Mercer knocked out one of their top ten ranked heavyweights some eleven months ago. They will stop at nothing to guarantee victory for Thomas and try to restore the little pride that this so called sport has left.
Support boxing,support Mayorga!
The fight is off, Judge ruled in King's favor...

No MMA debut for Mayorga
DKP said it has already secured Mayorga’s next boxing assignment against current WBA world middleweight champion Felix Sturm in August or September 2010.

Josh Gross from Sports Illustrated.
Point of clarification from Shine, they are moving forward until they are served the court order. Then it’s unclear what will happen.
Also, if you follow up on MMA, this robs SHINE from taking precedent in being the first promotion to put on a Boxing/Organized MMA bout that would actually count on records.
Strike another achievement for UFC.
Would it be possible to have the fight go on as an "exhibition" like the Kimbo-Mercer fight?
King killed it by saying because MMA has Boxing in it, he should still have a hand in it.
So this case makes it impossible for any active boxer to compete in MMA without their hand being held by ignorant promoters.
The only sweet revenge I can see out of all this is if Denny Price/ATT files an injunction on King for violating their contract when and if he gets Mayorga a fight.
I've heard that the promotion will ignore the judge's decision and have the fight go on anyway. Interesting.
Lol, thats what am reading also. Man this shit is really getting interesting.

They want to, but hearing that there are very serious concessions if they do ignore the ruling, they might just headline it with the Ninja/Pampalona match.
Then again, no one pushes around ATT, so we'll see what happens.
King basically won this through bullshit semantics (The meaning of "Bouts" as opposed to "bouts").
In the end, he just a coward and not a true combast sports fan.

It should happen though.
Teoretically Don King is right as he does have Mayorga under contract but Mayorga only wants to fight to make money. And obviously he wasn't getting fights in boxing so he turned to MMA.
I'd just wish he'd take his fights seriously,he has sowed up poorly trained on several occasions and got whooped.

No MMA debut for Mayorga
I guess that's that for this circus event. I agree that Mayorga is not a mixed martial artist but I feel he should have been allowed to compete in a sport other than boxing. I hate to see all these fighters kept inactive by Don King Promotions.
Lets be honest here Din thomas is pretty much a lower level MMA fighter who never made it to the top and was kicked out of the UFC because he was not good enough, put Ricardo in with an elite UFC fighter under MMA rules and the poor guy would be beaten easily, but under boxing rules he would proberbly win. just remember this Din Thomas guy never made it to the top in MMA.
My love will always be with and for boxing but ive no hate against MMA. I think people need to respect the fact that the skill set required is broader and the sport as a whole is far younger. Its proponets will improve technically over time the same way boxing has over the last couple of centurys (only faster given the changes in society etc.). Right now you have guys who are great wrestler or great BJJ guys or whatever but few with a truly solid and evolved all-round game. Given that, if the fight stays standing i'd give the edge to Mayorga given his superior hands (an obvious point lol). But dnt underestimate what a barrage of Thai kicks to the leg can do. Ive seen pro-boxers downed by Thai/Kickboxers through leg punishment. And if this goes to the ground mayorga hasnt a hope in hell. Hope he does well though or the MMA guys are going to take it a run with it. Cant deal with those goons chatting mad shit.
