"I think Pryor would have beaten Mayweather, but Mayweather’s elusiveness and defense would have caused him problems. I think his pressure and his power would have eventually worn Mayweather down."

Arguello was ahead in the first fight until the bottle incident.
I hardly called that "destroyed"
I guess you missed the part when Arguello was on the canvas for minutes after the fight ended. You must have also missed the rematch. And Arguello was not ahead. But you're very good at making statements about things you know nothing about
At the first bell, Arguello hit Pryor with a straight right, and the two traded blows through a frenetic first three minutes. By the time the bell sounded again, they’d combined to throw 238 punches — many of them landing flush.
“It was like a miniature of the Thrilla of Manilla, it went one way, then the other way,” Arum recalled. Arguello landed a punch in the 13th round that seemed to stun Pryor, B]and despite trailing on two of three scorecards, the charismatic Nicaraguan had things tilting in his direction.
Pryor had never before been this deep in a fight, and trainer Panama Lewis seemed to realize things were slipping away. HBO was televising the bout and its microphones caught Lewis telling cutman Artie Curley, “Give me the bottle, the one I mixed.” While it’s unclear what was in the special bottle — speculation has ranged from chocolate to cocaine — it seemed to revive Pryor.
He landed at least 15 unanswered blows in the 14th before referee Stanley Christodoulou stopped it. Arguello collapsed to the canvas near the ropes, where he lay for several minutes.
“God knows what he gave Pryor to revive him,” Arum said.
Lewis and Pryor steadfastly denied the substance was anything illegal.
“I had, like, 30 knockouts before I fought Alexis, I don’t think I needed anything that particular night,” Pryor said. “I feel like my ability was doing my talking for me.”
The controversy resulted in a rematch, but the savage beating Arguello withstood stayed with him when they met the following year. Pryor dominated Arguello at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, stopping him in the 10th round.

On the official scorecards or yours was Arguello ahead? Because when I watch it I always have Pryor with a good 2 or 3 point cushion with Arguello having made a push at the time Pryor stopped him. I don't see how Arguello could be ahead.
every fighter that Floyd has faced has THROWN more punches than he has
and yet he is still 40-0
what were you saying about VOLUME?
:omfg:
Look at who he faced
There is no way I can pick Pryor over Floyd when all he throws is wide/looping punches and has no regard for defense. Thats too much of an advantage for Floyd. If Pryor was a Southpaw it would be one thing but Floyd's D is way too good against righties to be hit by some wide ass looping punches and he's far too accurate to not land on Pryor at a high rate. AA was outboxing him so Floyd can definietly hang
Pryor DID beat all time greats. Twice with Arguello and once with Antonio Cervantes. Not only did he beat them, he destroyed them.
Arguello was ahead in the first fight until the bottle incident.

I think this is a fight Pryor wins the first two or three rounds of, Mayweather dominates in the middle rounds, and Pryor comes back and dominates late after his non stop pressure wears Mayweather down. Nothing Mayweather did would discourage Pryor and I think that would affect Mayweather negatively.
Flomos are boxrec-ing Pryor right now
*waits for first poster to mention The Hawk's loss*
:lol1: step 1: google: who is aaron pryor?
step 2: boxrec losses..

nukka wasn't even dat funny! pryorz only won cos he did dope!
nobodies saying pavlik can beat all time greats.
And since Pavlik lost to Hopkins, he is probably UNDERRATED now
Pryor DID beat all time greats. Twice with Arguello and once with Antonio Cervantes. Not only did he beat them, he destroyed them.
I can think of plenty of fighters in history more overrated than Pryor. One is in your signature.

Pryor may well be the most overrated fighter in the History of Boxing.
He was very talented, very tough, and an absolute joy to watch. But he is not in the same league as guys like Mayweather and Leonard. Both guys would have beaten him convincingly in my opinion

Aaron Pryor would have gotten beat like a red headed step child. The UD would be more lopsided than Tara Reids breasts.
Floyd's defensive skills and mental stability would completely outmatch anything Pryor has to offer.
arguello>>>>>>>>floyd (overall)
Vilamar fernandez outboxed and beat Alexis Arguello. Arguello had all kinds of problems with Fernandez and boxers in general because he was straight up and down. But he had great power and a very effective methodical style. Fernandez was no where near Mayweather's level. Ernesto Marcel outboxed and beat Arguello. Marcel was not on Mayweather's level. Pryor used boxing and movement at times in his fight with Arguello and made Alexis look bad when he used those skills. In terms of skill, Arguello could not match Mayweather. But it's a waste of time explaining that to you.
Can't see how Pryor could beat Mayweather, really can't. At 140, that was Mayweather's best weight in my opinion.
If I had to bet on it I would pick Mayweather but it would have been a very competitive fight. Pryor was no scrub and one of the best ever at 140.

your dumbass needs to know that you dont get points for dodging punchess......idiot!
scoring criterias for a professional fight
- clean effective punching
- ring generalship
- effective aggression
- defense
you do get points for dodging punches (pro not amateur), the only dumbass is you.

and floyd doe'snt hit a lot either.......defense doe'snt score points, does it?......lol
Actually defense does score points. Because that would mean a fighters aggression is not effective and you only get points for EFFECTIVE AGGRESSION. Not just plain old aggression.
