Based on what?
Considering 3 years ago his career was being written off to becoming the EBU Champion and defending it a few times and looking pretty good to moving up to LMW and facing the next big thing, yet stuck in for 12 rounds isn't to bad. And considering Hatton was brought in for Saul to look good and dispose of and didn't, he's earned the right to get a fight at WW.
Sure Hatton lost every round, I'm not disputing that but considering he was simply brought in to make Saul look good and (hopefully) get the KO and didn't give him someone at WW, as I said he's not world class but at least give the guy a crack at WW belt or one of the top guys, he's done all the right things since the Watson fight in May 2008.
A Floyd/Manny fight should happen but probably won't.
Floyd isn't a risky fighter look at his record the risky fighters he fought were past their prime, hell even DLH took him all the way and lost a debatable decision, Floyd learnt from that single fight not to face fighters who pose any kind of threat to his 0, I'd be more surprised if Floyd actually fights again let alone faces Manny, 41-0 is a nice record and has some big names mixed in and around it.
Even thou Matt Hatton isn't a world class fighter I think he's earned the right to contend for a belt or at least face of the top echelon of the division.
Even thou I know it's obsurd talk by myself I'd like to see him fight Manny or Floyd at WW as a tune up fight for either of them, but more so to see how he fairs compaired to Ricky, doubtful either fight will take place, I reckon he'd fair better with either than Ricky did,
Saying Nick isn't an elite MMA fighter shows Vargas' ignorance, Nick was in the UFC and left because he wouldn't play the game (literally keep himself in check, not throwing down with fighters in the hospital and bashing the commissions) hense how Nick isn't in the UFC but he is in StrikeForce and holds their version of WW title.
Look at Nicks career and as much as he does have a few losses in his career most by decision and his career wins are far more impressive and his tooling of Gomi was insane at the time as Gomi was still considered one of the top 3 in the LW division at the time.
As much as I like Mayweathers boxing talents his opinions are far wide of the mark.
Vitali lost to Lewis because of a cut.
Vitali was WINNING on all score cards at the time of the stoppage.
Vitali requested a rematch and LEWIS declined.
I like Lennox Lewis, in my opinion he's one of the best heavyweight boxers of all time, he avenged his losses but Lewis should have rematch Lewis to put the doubts to rest, but seriously 50 years down the line from now people will see his record and go damn he beat the Great Vitali Klitschko most people wouldn't have seen the fight and justice was never served which is/was and forever will be a shame, but Vitali became a much better fighter because of the loss.
This fight should of happened in 2009 and Haye claimed injury in reality it was due to his TV rights deal ceasing when they went out of business, now Frank Warren comes out and admits trying to set a fight up threw Booth/Haye is damn near impossible yet the Klitchko's are scalded every time, if Haye wanted either Klitchko he'd sign the bouts after all Wlad & Vitali are the big names in the HW division regardless of demands, beat either or both of them then your the man and until then you've got too bend over backwards to the champs, but I think it's more Haye/Booth (latter inparticular) who doesn't want the fight happening.
And the punch line to this joke is Haye was the guy who put a tshirt on with him holding both Klits heads and VITALI was the one that took it personal and wanted to throw down with Haye there and then. And now Haye has no beef with him?
Haye makes no points what so ever, saying he beats a 40 year old Vitali and what people would say is bull****; he fought Ruiz and Harrison who are in their late 30s and had no right being in the ring with a champion at this point in their careers let alone a champion who's only losses are cuts and a shoulder injury 11 and 8 years ago.
Problem with Haye is he wants Wlad because Wlad has a suspect chin (he's been floored 9times more then any other HW champion) Vitali on the other hand has never really been beating like Wlad and Haye thinks Wlad is the easier of the two Klits to beat, either way if either fight were to happen I'd bet on both Klits to maul Haye within 8 rounds.
No way GBP will agree for the rematch to be in Canada considering the previous fight, and I doubt Hopkins would agree for a rematch to take place in Canada considering how he was screwed. Either way Pascal should be glad of the opportunity to rematch Hopkins in the US and correct the previous fight, and regardless of age BHop is a credible win on a record.
I watched the fight live and I had Groves winning the fight by two rounds, the final round I'd given to DeGale but the right boxer won that night.
I'm sure a rematch will happan in the future but as far as their fight three weeks back I had Groves winning comfortably. DeGale in terms of ranks I hold higher than Groves, styles make fights. DeGale will in all probability will get his chance at one of the Alphabet titles before Groves anyway. As long as DeGale doesn't take the loss to personally and is able to move on (ala Amir Khan) he'll do fine.
DeGale should be focused on securing a World title fight before talking about a potiental title fight with Froch. Do I think DeGale/Froch will happen? sure if both keep winning but the question is would Froch be willing to make the all-british super fight? after all Joe Calzaghe wouldn't give Froch the opportunity and if bigger fights present themselves in Europe/America I could eaisly see Froch passing up the all british super middleweight fight to go after the bigger fights.
It's a good fight, and considering Kessler is WBC's champion in Emertis facing Bute for the IBF belt in June-Sept would be ideal, if the fight happens and can be held in Europe I'd give Kessler the advantage if it happens in America/Canada I'd give the advantage to Bute; who ever wins has a good barging chip to get the Super Six winner.
Nice to see Haye spouting his bull**** again, just a shame he can't back his **** up against top quality fighters.
Personally I don't think Haye deserves to be spoke of in the same debate with either Klitschko let alone share the ring with either.
Nothing surprises me with Khan's team and by the way things are going and Khan's talk of early retirement I can see his affairs going the same with Prince Naz's did back in the 90s/02, too many family are on the payroll and getting involved in issues that has nothing to do with them.
In fairness they don't have to sign with Top Rank to fight Manny, but it's a lot easier to attain the fight going that route, but GBP has been on rocky times lately, BHop, Shane and now JMM have either left or are leaving, there is no smoke without fire and obviously GBP is on rough times.
Cortez is the worst ref in boxing, he needs to be retired.
It's easy to say Ortiz made a rookie mistake, he did but Cortez NEVER instructed either boxer to continue, he did however turn to the judges/time keeper and say something about ready to restart and Ortiz went and hugged Mayweather then bang and Joe for all his glory was looking out into the crowd.
Worst refereeing I've seen in boxing for sometime, but Joe has ****ed up a bunch of times now, ironically 2nd Mayweather fight I can recall.
And once again Ryan gets screwed over... he's been the 1# contender since Oct, 2009 (and I believe he originally earned a world title shot in Sept, 2008 winning the WBC International title) so for 2.5 years he's been over looked, GBP probably lowballed Ryan knowning he's a craft veteran who's got the tools to really test Saul.
Boxing politics at it's best.
Very unreal deal on Khan's part trying to temp an undefeated European Champion. Not everyone was given the easier road (and money).
In fairness I'm not a Khan supporter never have never will, the only good thing Khan has going for him is Freddy Roach.
If Khan is having all these issues aquiring a boxers services for April then accept Presscots challenge regardless if he's been exposed Khan might as well clean that sole loss off his record.
I believe Wlad Klitschko will handle Haye with relevent ease; it's no coincidence Haye is fighting Wlad mere months before retirement, if Wlad does a number on him Haye can face another dip in competiton for his retirement fight or possibly go out on a loss to the 1# heavyweight, or say Haye actually beats Wlad I'd bet that Haye will retire before a Vitali fight or giving Wlad a rematch, it simply amazes me that Haye not two weeks ago said he'd never fight Vitali because he's too old, now today he's up for it?
come on Haye doesn't want Vitali and I believe the Wlad fight all boils down to Haye going out facing the 1# Heavyweight win or lose, but if he wins by some chance he'll not face either Klitschko afterwards.
YAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWN!!!
We were all subjected to Hayes big talk and yet shameful fight against Wlad.
Sure I'd watch Vitali/Haye just to see Vitali further expose Haye for being a big talker who failed in the super fights.
First Haye should fight Arreola beforehand then face Vitali, end of the day it's not like he actually earned his stripes in the HW division apart from **** talk his way into a title fight then back out then do it again and back out before getting the easier world title fight.
The only good thing Haye did for boxing was putting on abysmal pay per views to the point SKY ceased ALL boxing ppv's for the time being.
Mayweather/Pacman would look exactly like Mosley/Pacman from what I saw last night I honestly don't believe Mayweather would fight, he'd try and counter Manny on every punch thrown, mega fight absolutly but the fight itself would be one major letdown.
And pigs might fly, Khan wants Mayweather over in the UK, HA!!! if Hatton couldn't do it and had more to offer Mayweather, then why would Floyd even consider Khan let alone Khan in the UK.
Ambition can be a bastard.
