Floyd Mayweather at 34 is DONE in terms of greatness

maybe, but his cherry-picking career is just starting

It's funny to hear how Floyd's age and will show a "natural" reduction in his ability....but somehow Pac's assension in ability as he get older is "natural" too. U guys are telling on yourselves.

Of Course that will start to Diminish, that happens to ALL FIGHTERS, eventually "FATHER TIME" will catch up to you...BUT just like Sugar Ray Leonard coming back from a 2-3 year layoff to CHEAT...I mean defeat lol Hagler, Punishment is what diminishes you the fastest not really age and layoff and ON TOP OF THAT, these Current Boxers are NOT THAT SKILLED and many of them are NOT THAT GOOD...that is why guys like Hopkins, Glen Johnson and Mosley are still hanging around because the Competition is VERY BEATABLE! so even if someone like Mayweather slows down, he will still have enough to beat probably 99.9% of these fighters because as much as people talk about his "SKILLS" Mayweather style also has a lot to do with the MENTAL ASPECT OF BOXING, something that many of these current fighters Don't Have, that is why the go out and change Trainers every other fight because they NEED their trainer to help them with the Mental Aspect not necessarily the PHYSICAL STUFF...that is why a lot of people say "Mayweather Plays Chess While The Rest Of Boxing Is Playing CHECKERS" because Mayweather in the RING THINKS before he makes his moves Layoffs is not going to diminish Mayweather, Sugar Ray Leonard did the exact same thing late in his career, fighting 1 fight a year and was off for 2-3 years before fighting Hagler and didn't take a WARM UP FIGHT for Hagler I don't think, but the Hagler fight took a lot of Leonard as did the 2nd Hearn fight, he probably should have stopped after the 2nd Hearns fight and especially after the 3rd DURAN fight but instead he ran into a YOUNG BEAST in Terry Norris and get DESTROYED and by the way Mayweather is way more skilled the Roy Jones was...lets be honest I don't know why some of you keep bringing up Roy Jones, now Roy depended COMPLETELY on boxing faster and having great reflex, Roy didn't have great defense and he kept his Guard Down to get him punches off faster Mayweather isn't Sugar Ray Leonard. He thinks before he moves? What happens when he knows what he wants to do but does it a half second later than he wanted? He gets knocked the f*** out. And if you want to talk mentally, that's his biggest problem. He clearly isn't fighting because he wants to, he fights now because that's the only way to get the money he wants. That attitude will hurt him as well. Again, what happens when he goes for the pullcounter but is beaten to the punch? What happens when he tries to shoulder roll a punch but can't do it fast enough? If he can make adjustments to his style to an uglier Hopkins like style, maybe he does stay elite for longer than I expect. But I don't see Mayweather doing that or caring to do it.

Floyd would do well to come back and take on Martinez sometime at the end of the year. He surprised me when he fought Shane and I'd be shocked if he fought Sergio. I just don't see it happening. And I do believe that when he does return, he'll be 1-2 fights away from losing his undefeated record.

Floyd is not a ATG. It's the injuries. Up to 135 = ATG. No complaints about opponents, he fought best and beat them all. 140 and up = ??? Once the hands starting becoming a real problem, that's when I think he decided to rachet it down. It's hard to get up and LOVE what you do when your body doesn't cooperate. He has style to prolong career, but I go ahead and say it and say that he's brittle and would never fight even until late 30's especially now that he's made his paper. He has bad hands. Hurt shoulder in Castillo fight. Baldomir fight = bad hands. Broke ribs and had to postpone Marquez fight. I just get feeling he's not very resilient. This made him fight even more defensive. 135 you saw full offensive arsenal. Now he's leaning one way, towards his strength which was defense anyways, but he's not showing same stuff anymore like 130-135. Something happened, and it all starts with his bad hands. I always wondered this about Floyd. Why did he just quit? I was under the assumption that any fight he took would be easy work and easy money for him, even when he moved up to 147. He was at his prime and it appeared that this was gonna be his premier weight class.This is where he would have gotten the most exposure, he would have built his legacy as the greatest fighter of this generation and, this is where he would have made the most money. I think people assume - oh, he doesn't take a lot of punishment in the ring therefore he still has x amount of fights/years left. Doesn't work that way. Floyd has been fighting since he could walk. That's a lot of wear and tear on the body. If he steps in the ring again, he's going to look a lot worse than people think. And if it's against an elite opponent, he will probably lose.

floyd is a big underachiever. his achievements is way behind his talent and skillset...sad but true.
