Cotto fought a better version of Pacquiao, Mosley, Canelo also fought Margarito in his prime, fought Austin Trout and dared to be great and went up and challenged Martinez for the MW title. Also fought Judah and Clottey.
People in the industry that actually in that business swear by their children that it won't do more than 900k but a fanboy still insisted to me that it did over a million.
Pacquiao fans are annoying but loyal Floyd followers are the most irrational humans you will meet.
I thought De La Hoya looked his absolute best in the first 9 rounds of the Tito fight. He was putting on a clinic and was so crisp and looked in a different league than Tito.
This thread should say Crossfit workout kicks Bradley's butt.
I was expecting to see Tim wrestling with grown men on the ground or kicking grown men with his underwear on. That was Crossfit stuff that an MMA guy does. Not a good title for this thread.
Trust me i aint no Mayweather fan by any means.(I cant deny hes great) And u like fighters like Chavez jr dehydrating themselves to make weight to balloon up and bully people at that weight division?
And Martinez didn't cry one bit about him being too big nor did he cry when he fought Pavlik who was also way bigger than Sergio.
Because Sergio belongs at that weight. And why dosent Sergio move up in weight and fight bigger guys????
Martinez is a junior MW who moved up b/c that is where the money was. Pavlik and Chavez were way bigger than him but he never brought those issues up he just fought them.
Not saying that Floyd is but his fans and people are bringing up the issue of size.
Also funny b/c we watched the Cunningham-Fury fight on that Saturday afternoon and he knew neither fighter but got pissed at Fury and we both jumped off the couch when Cunningham floored him in the 2nd round and high fived each other, lol.
I don't think it is good for the long term of the sport but I think it has helped the short term and I like the analogy of the WCW and WWF. The WCW was kicking the WWF's butt for a while but over time regained its status as the long reigning and premier wrestling organization. I think that is what could happen with HBO and Showtime. Right now I think Showtime has the upper hand but eventually I don't think Showtime can pay Mayweather, Canelo, Khan, Broner, and etc. so they will have to go back to HBO and HBO will show that it is the premier boxing provider.
But as of right now they will continue to compete with each other and we will get the Maidana's and Lopez cards and the Cleverly cards and so on.
I just watched the Judah fight. He weighed in at 146 and on fight night he weighed 146. Judah went from 145 to 150. But to me Mayweather looks bigger and more muscular now than he did in the Judah fight.
If he was so hot than why didnt PWill rise to super stardom after he beat Tony? That win did nothing for his career. He was completely dominated for 9 rounds by an old and shot Mosley. In fact that bum hasnt won a single round since getting caught.
He fought P-Will because nobody else would fight him. Then after Paul beat Margarito there was literally nobody that wanted to fight him at 147. And Margarito came back and destroyed a 1 loss Cintron and then beat Cotto in a classic but tainted fight after the Williams fight. Again all of that is better than what Ortiz or the Ghost ever did.
I didn't even remember him weighing in on fight night against Ortiz, probably b/c I was at a fight party. But this to me only adds fuel to the fire for the fight needing to be at 154. If they can get a rehydration clause in the contract that says Canelo can't weigh more than 165 on fight night then the fight should be easy to make.
If not then why would Floyd fight Ortiz when Ortiz was 164 and why did he make the comment about Cotto saying he wants to fight guys at their most comfortable weight.
Ya sure Floyds resumes sh1t because he didnt fight Margarito lmao. Even though the last 2 guys that knocked Margarito out were shot. And Floyd beat them too. Or were Mosley and Cotto only shot because Floyd fought them? I remember all the Trout d1ck licking after he beat Cotto.
You trying to act like Margarito wasnt hot at the time. A lot hotter than Victor Ortiz or the Ghost.
also, why do you wanna go anyways? It trips me out how guys hate on people but then wanna be around them. Why would you wanna go to his gym if you dont like him or any of his fighters?
I was a huge Mayweather fan in the early years when he was beating up the Manfreddy's and Coralles's but his contradictions and act started to wear on me. But he is the best fighter of my generation so why wouldn't I want to meet him, I am a huge boxing fan.
I was a massive Tyson fan and was in a state of shocked when Buster knocked him out then I spent the next 10 to 15 years making excuses for Tyson.
Then when Roy got knocked out by Tarver that almost ruined me. I loved Roy and I was the only white dude of about 15 watching the fight and when Roy got knocked down I jumped out of my chair and was standing right in front of the tv saying, "get up Roy, get up.." I turned around and it was like, "what is this white boy doing?
Jones also said boxing was dead but yet he only sold 500k ppv buys and Mayweather did over a million.
I always ask MMA people how many kick boxing matches they use to watch on tv or how many karate matches thy watched? The answer is 0 they watch MMA for the stand up game which is boxing. I really cannot stand the MMA faithful. I about got in a fight with a dude at a Pacquaio watching party b/c he was a big MMA guy and I said why do you like watching grown men kick each other or wrestling on the ground with each other and he was like its called fighting. How many bar fights or street fights have you seen guys kicking each other?
I know a lot of people on here don't like him but I wait until Dan Rafael confirms these types of things. He talks directly to Schaeffer, Arum, Dibella and etc.
Ben may be credible but he just says sources where as Rafael will say just got off the phone with Schaeffer and the fight is on.
I remember when there were rumors swirling for a few weeks about Mayweather-Ortiz and Ben flat out asked Mayweather if he was fighting Ortiz and he said he didn't know where those rumors were coming from and he didn't have an opponent yet and then a few days later the Mayweather-Ortiz fight was announced.
Nobody works with Top Rank. I can count on one hand the times TR did a dual promotion with GB or any other big outfit. It not just because of Floyd. Hell Floyd was with them for 11 years. It was already a problem when he was with TR.
Top Rank did a big promotion with Dibella last year with Chavez-Martinez. Also I don't think Ruslan is with TOP Rank but I could be wrong. Goosen, Dibella, and Top Rank are all on HBO and Main Events will soon be. What is the only promotional company doing business on Showtime? And when is the last time Golden Boy co- promoted a fight?
My question is will Floyd Mayweather say in his post fight interview that he still considers Canelo an undefeated fighter b/c he fought at a catchweight?
San Antonio has the best fanbase in terms of people filing in to see fights. Dallas isn't that great of a fight town. I went to JuanMa vs Garcia and the stadium was far from being packed.
Haven't gone to Houston yet but I heard those crowds are always great
Dallas had a crowd of about 6,000 and the main event was a guy from Puerto Rico and a kid from California and the co main event was unknown fighter from Mexico and unknown fighter from Nebraska. If you look at Tim Bradley's last fight in his home state after a ppv fight it only drew about 2,500.
People don't realize he had some decent opponents before he was signed to gbp and that was when he was in his teen at a time most pros are barely starting their careers. He just beat a guy everyone on here rated as the #1 fighter at jr. Middleweight , it wasn't a dominat victory but he showed great skills in outboxing trout and won a clear fight
Canelo's win over Trout was far and away better than anything Berto ever did.
