Wlad is getting old and you expect him to fight a big, young, athletic, powerful, fast, undefeated, intimidating, hungry American champion who made Bermane Stiverne look like an amateur? It really wasn't close. Please rewatch the match, Pascal clearly won 7-8 of the 12 rounds. Froch barely did any damage while Pascal was hurting and confusing him constantly.

Nothing on Cotto's resume indicates he is better. His losses to Trout and Margarito certainly doesn't and he got no great wins compared to the ones of Froch, so it's merely favouritism if anyone considers Cotto to be better than Froch.
