Oh man I am so excited for this. Brandon might get outboxed and lose a decision but he'll make Kell Brook have to earn it, he won't just pack it in when he realizes he's outclassed and will be dangerous throughout the 12 rounds. Bring it on!
Rios get demolished in a 12 round beatdown 120-108. Pretty embarrassing to talk all that crap and then do nothing on fight night. He should go back down to junior welterweight and fight Ruslan, although he'd first need to earn the shot at a title. It's back to the drawing board after this drubbing but the good things to take from this is Rios has a good chin at WW and looked to have quicker hands.
Adonis Stevenson or Kovalev vs Jones Jr in the works?
Oh, god no! *pukes*
Nice joke though.
Maybe RJJ realized it's time to finally hang em up? A man can hope.
Andy Ruiz is the truth. Seeing him spar Holyfield shows you the guy's pedigree as a pugilist. The sport is about beating your opponent in a boxing match, nothing else. All the training goes towards that, not looking good. Would you prefer this guy was another Canelo who was fed easy opposition just because he was good looking and easily marketable? Gimme a break, you guys are just looking for things to b**** about at this point.
Tyson Fury is just trying to get his name out there the easiest way possible. I really can't agree with political correctness when it comes to combat sports. This isn't amateur boxing, this is prizefighting. Heavyweights go into the ring with 10 oz gloves against opponents over 200 lbs, with the goal of taking the other guy's head off in impressive fashion, but they're supposed to be nice and cordial to each other? Save that for after the fight when both guys hug it out.
Alvarado looked shot but then again being in so many wars and eating all the uppercuts he did tonight will make you go over the hill real fast. Brandon Rios is a bamf and we all want to see him against Provodnikov at 147. Ruslan seems more interested in fighting Pac so if not that then Rios vs Amir Khan would be intriguing on so many levels.
I really like Mikey's left hand. His jabs and left hooks aren't telegraphed at all. I think he goes to the head a bit too much though.
Yes and he uses them to set up his straight right to perfection. I would actually say he was shy with the right hand last night, considering he was fighting a southpaw with major defensive holes. Fantastic performance regardless. Even though Mikey couldn't make 126 he still was only 4 1/2 pounds heavier than Lopez on fight night which is not a huge difference. He rips through Martinez if and when that fight happens.
Oh and I've been wanting to say since last night, those ring girls :biggthump
The Top Rank girl on the left has the body of a goddess. I mean, if one woman had to be responsible to repopulate the earth you'd want her to look just like that.....
Wow a swollen pituitary gland that is serious. It could potentially destroy the rest of his life, debilitating him physically from either a lack or excess amount of hormones being produced, if not just kill him outright (like 8 foot men with enlarged pituitary glands, genetically, dying early before 30). Brandon Rios ruined John Murray, because if it swells up again it could be more than career ending. I'm rooting for him against Crolla though. You can't fault his heart.
I wish we could see Josesito Lopez vs Alvarado at 147 and Provodnikov vs Lucas Matthysse at 140. I definitely do not want to see a rematch of Provodnikov Alvarado though.
A rematch with JCC jr is more likely. More money, less risk. Sorry GGG it's looking like you lose out on the 160 king. Now if Chavez jr was able to beat Martinez and Golovkin continued his winning ways against someone like Peter Quillin, it would pave the way for a war of the ages. Enormous brawler vs incredible power with good speed. Styles make fights and this one would be epic. Might be dreaming a little too much though. lol
Agreed, I would like to see it too. Rios takes it easily as Broner already showed you can TKO Demarco with pressure and hard punches. This fight will serve to show if Rios can truly make 140 like he says.
LMAO @ Orlando Cruz. He must really take pride in getting railed. Anyways I am excited to see the first glimpse of Lomenchenko. After some overnight thinking I developed a gut feeling that Bradley would box and outwork JMM for a UD. My original prediction was JMM by MD, I'm still going for Marquez but my gut is usually right.
Vic always provides value for money even in defeat but I hope this is the last young guy he gets fed to.
He can make a nice living as a gatekeeper, he still beats most non champion featherweights. Put him against Gradovich.
Chisora goes on a winning streak and is rewarded by being fed a broken fighter. I guess they're trying to make Chisora into a bigger attraction. This fight ends in a TKO, Chisora will back up and maul Price once he gets him on the ropes. After that it's only a matter of time before the ref decides Price is done. KO4 Chisora.
I really think Bradley made a huge mistake by not taking a tune up fight before facing JMM. You just don't know how his body and brain will hold up once he gets hit with that first clean shot. He doesn't lack for confidence though, that's for sure. The question is, is Tim Bradley finally biting off more than he can chew? I think the answer is yes.
I'm not saying Bradley is not qualified to face Marquez, simply that after taking the worst beating of your life, being an invalid for a third of the year, you really shouldn't be pitting yourself against a guy who almost killed the consensus #2 fighter in the world.
On the flip side, if he were to beat JMM, and clearly, not like the Pac fight, he would become an instant top 3 P4P fighter like he says and receive all the glory that comes with it, not to mention all the fans who will be clamoring for what would be a lucrative FMM match.
I'm rooting for Rios but it will be a a war for sure. It will be interesting to see if the fight happens at 140 where Ruslan is the champion, and where Rios by his own admittance doesn't want to go back down to, or 147 where both fighters would be more comfortable at. Personally I hope Rios sucks it up and goes down to 140.
I wasn't able to watch the second half of the fight but I'm so happy for Arthur Abraham, the king. :) He can retire happily or take on another foe for a last big pay day.
If you think winning 22 out of 23 bouts is garbage, you need to get a grip with reality. The hype if you must know is that he's a hard hitter, hard worker, who trains and spars with the wealth of talent at the Robert Garcia boxing academy in Oxnard.
Well it's too late for all those dream 168 matchups now because I don't see Adonis vacating all those belts and money for the glory of knocking out Froch, Kessler, and possibly Ward. Him vs Kovalev is interesting.
For Andy Ruiz 235 is a perfect fighting weight. You have to be privy to the fact that not all bodybuilders or musclebound weight lifters are healthy people. They look that way from manipulating training specifications to emphasize certain body parts and make them more aesthetic, not purely functional. The majority of those muscular men in a ring would be slow, sluggish(which means less power), have poor stamina etc.
I mean the added exercise can't hurt but his genetics may say he is just not meant to be ripped. Only time will tell though and I hope he proves me wrong.
Congratulations to Bradley. He may not have knockout power but he uses 100% of what he does have and that makes him a great champion. I predicted he would win by UD, Salido would get a KO in 6 and Lomachenko KO in 3. Wasn't too far off. Now I'm just ready for next week's war between Ruslan and Alvarado!
