Soft stoppage.
Selby should have gone to the body more at the end; instead of headinghunting with pitty pat punches. Waving the ref over to stop it was embarrassing.
Businsess move haha. Don't give me that hogwash. Fighters fight. Bradley called him out then backed down when he realised Khan would accept.
Ducked him plain and simple.
I agree. I like Khan, but that was disappointing.
He should take a leaf outta Hatton's book, who was gracious in defeat against Mayweather, and thanked his fans, and apologized for not getting the win.
Chisora wouldn't do that though as he has class, he isn't some disrespectful halfwit like Khan.
He is Pakistani, a Pakistani living in Bolton.
Why isn't his brother representing the U.k if they're English? He claims to be English as Britain has a large Muslim community which means more fans, more money.
Because he wasn't picked by the British selectors.
Okay. I just watched the ten seconds of the stoppage on a loop on YouTube and I gotta say it looks suspect. When you repeatedly watch it you see certain things.
Like the fact Groves throws two punches seconds before it's stopped and has his gloves up a few split seconds before it's stopped. And literally a split second before it's stopped Groves attempts to push Froch off. That straightens his arms out. As that happens the referee jumps in and holds Groves. Groves is leaning forward due to his push attempt and the referee drapes himself over Groves. So in all the pics it looks like Groves is slumped over with his arms down.
Watch 0:40 to 0:50 a few times.
Thats funny you say that.

Watch the 1st video and apologise for lieing.
From what I got "Buzzed a little bit."
And
"I was nowhere near as hurt as he had been"
So he was buzzed...but just a little. He never denied he was hurt. He said he was hurt but downplayed it. And of course he's going to downplay how hurt he was. He's a fighter, that's their mentality. It's why Vitali Klitschko wanted to fight on against Lewis despite having a cut that needed dozens of stitches. Do you not understand that?
If Groves says he was capable of fighting on then I'll take that at face value and accept that. But does this look like a guy defending himself?

Arms at his sides and turning away.
Froch was caught with some huge punches but his arms were always back up and he was always facing Groves.
Jesus. Everyone who says NSB is full of retards is spot on.
I start a thread arguing cases for both points of view and get Froch fanboys and Groves fanboys throwing hissy fits and red k'ing me. Hahaha. Keep it coming. I love it!
Groves admitted he was hurt at the time of the stoppage. The way he reacted to being hurt was probably what prompted the stoppage, although obviously only the referee could definitively corroborate that.
I had Groves up 4 rounds last night, but I blame Jim Watt for that.
Re-watched it this morning with the sound off and scored it closer. Groves was in a bad way in round 9; there's no denying that. The ref should have given Groves a standing count after that final flurry of shots. Still, I think Froch would have finished him.
No standing 8 counts in world title fights. Why am I still seeing people say this?
If you read my initial post you would know my problem is with this
"Having said that probably a few seconds later it would have been time to stop it. Probably."
So ??????
Apologies. It's just that your posts don't make a lot of coherant sense. It's just agnry rambling for the most part.
Okay, so now I am aware of what you take issue with I will respond.
So? So what? What is wrong with me saying that?
I didn't say it was a sure thing. I qualified my opinion by saying PROBABLY I didn't state it as a fact.
I'm admitting that nobody will know what would have happened in the next few seconds.
For sake of argument let's say Groves wasn't badly hurt. But having your arms at your sides while you turn away sets off alarm bells in the referee's mind. It's that simple.
Ok, calm down. He is saying that he is starting to agree with you.
It was bull****. Groves only a round before was dropping his hands and doing a "whitaker" on Froch. He was always trying to avoid them shots and as the guy above said was throwing back. People making excuses are doing just that, making excuses. It was a piss poor stoppage.
The hilarious bit is that I never actually disagreed with him. I was just trying to objectively look at the decision from both sides. And trying to find reasons why the ref stopped it.
Then when I make a post that agrees with his stand point he says it's beyond belief.
Dude is just spoiling for a fight.
My initial reaction was it was a BS stoppage and after watching the closing seconds multiple times and a few times in slow motion I stick by that opinion.
I'm not even a groves fan until after this fight so calm down son.
You just make the most retarded posts ever and just to clarify my 2nd post wasn't aimed at you which validates my point of you being a retard.
Because I have two eyes and can see a robbery it makes me a fanboy....ok buddy. Go **** yourself.
I knew groves was going to win so i backed him with money on skybet, I'm annoyed as a fan & a gambler because I have been robbed in broad daylight.
He was nowhere near getting stopped, free punches etc etc etc......you don't know what would of happened. Froch was in a worse position and got to continue. The only thing groves looked to me was tired, he was lucid and able to defend himself and never looked in trouble. The tide was turning but if you don't have a chance to weather the storm might aswell hang up your gloves before you get in the ring. The announcers said the same thing, all twitter and facebook are clogged up with the same opinion. Guess we're all fanboys though.
You and your logic stink of idiocy & that is the reason I'm wasting another second on you ....
Again, you realise that I've not said the fight should have stopped right? In fact the very first sentence of my very first post in this thread I said quite clearly "I would have let it continue". It's there in black and white. Or do you only read what you want to read?
I understand you're upset. Because you feel you've been robbed of money because you knew Groves would have gone on to win the fight. Funny how people aren't allowed to be certain Froch might have stopped him legit soon, but you are allowed to be certain Groves would have weathered the storm.
What I was doing was arguing for both sides of the fence. From the perspective of Groves, the referee and Froch. You need to take the emotion out of the fight mate.
Get back to me once you're fully calm lool.
If thats the ****ty logic you want to spread what chance do fighters have.
We are now counting "predicted punches" to outcomes of fights.
**** off honestly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHwPTe3hJ50
Watch that and tell me the fight should not be stopped in round 1 without being biased.
Froch didn't know where he was ....are you telling me he was not in a worse position to continue then groves?
Absolute BULLLLLL****
You should maybe start quoting posts to save any confusion over who you're addressing.
If it's me then everything you've said I've already mentioned in my first post. So you can't really be disagreeing with me.
Few seconds later?
The stoppage was pathetic.
Was groves hurt. NO
So how would he be seriously hurt after a few seconds more.
It was a fuking bull**** call and obviously rigged.
I'm disgusted ......
Froch is a piece of **** aswell.
As much as I dislike Froch, and he did speak some BS in that post-fight interview, he said, and I can see where he was coming from, "I had a free shot or two on him. You can't let a boxer have free hits. It's dangerous."
At the time of the stoppage Groves had his hands down and was turning away. I thought it looked like he was trying to evade punches or maybe turn and set his feet. Others could argue he wasn't effectively defending himself as his arms were down. It's all in how you look at it.
A boxer can do some serious, serious damage in a few split seconds if someone isn't effectively defending themselves.
It's not black and white.
For reasons already explained. I was gonna get some boys to green you up due to your good humour over it, but I won't now.
Tis cool. I consider it an honour to get red k'd by Annie. Limey lounge legend.
Some people are embarrassing themselves in regards to the issue of the count etc. How are you all going to conveniently forget that when a fighter makes it to his feet the ref is supposed to ask if he wants to continue. He must reply in the affirmative and then will say
"walk towards me" and raise his gloves to his face to show he can continue.
As the poster above says that is proper officiating. It's designed to check the downed fighter can continue. Are you guys still stuck in the 50s? How about in the rematch Wilder can stand over Fury like in the 20s. And you call yourselves boxing fans.
Nothing more than Wilder cheerleaders.
when you look like this. you're out cold.
https://i.imgur.com/3ieQ4Or.jpg
This reminds me of the Groves vs Froch 2 fight. Groves got up before 10 too.
You really are the biggest retard on this forum right now. You cannot compare the two situations.
Groves jumped up and was fucking staggering around like a drunk. Fury got to his feet before 10 and was STEADY on his feet and responding to all instructions. Hence the fight goes on.
Which part of that would you like me to explain to you again? I'm always happy to help newbies and casuals to the sport.
nope.
He said walk from THERE TO OVER THERE
This is brand new. He's giving him a longer walk.
No he's not you absolute fucking retard. Yes the instruction was different but it didn't add on any extra time. Watch it again. He tells Fury to walk from there to there which he immediately does. And waves the fight back on when Fury is able to comply.
Maybe you'd see what actually happened if you got up off your knees and wiped Wilder's cum out of your eyes.
No. Foreman, Tyson, Liston didn't have as many 1 punch KO's as Wilder.
Especially against 250 lb modern day heavyweights.
Is Wilder the greatest specimen to walk into boxing history? He is smaller than most most cruisers. Yet he's the big bad boogieman and bullies the likes of 260 lb Tyson Fury around the ring like an abused spouse. He has another 250 lb AJ doing a Bruce Jenner impression with his tucking.
How come he didn't walk Fury down and KO him?
debatable stoppage. 90% of refs would've waived it off at seeing him unconscious at count 5.
https://i.imgur.com/3ieQ4Or.jpg
In all fairness I thought he would too. But he didn't. And it was the right choice in hindsight because Fury won the rest of the round.
Wilder was absolutely gassed. If we still had 15 rounders Fury would have stopped Wilder.
Fury was already going down. The last shot helped him on his way.
You can't hold it against Wilder instincts just kick in. It's split second stuff. If he doesn't throw that second shot and Fury hadn't been going down from the first then he let's Fury off the hook in a world title fight.
That's up to him and how hard he's willing to work. He's still a top 5 heavyweight, realistically. Aj has what, a 98% ko ratio? and ruiz has 1 win over him and 1 fight where he had him fighting scared and couldn't knock him out.
One thing is for sure though, i'm never putting money on Ruiz again.
Explain how not standing still and letting your opponent hit you means you're fighting scared?
Please tell me the thread starter isn't dumb enough to think Ruiz literally didn't train at all.:dunce:
He also seems to think it's unacceptable for Ruiz to have landed a single, solitary shot on Joshua haha.
