WTF! Was Cleverly's Gameplan?

Really? You're really going to walk straight towards Kovalev knowing he's a massive puncher? Not give him any angles. Not try to use range. Just tuck up and come forward thinking you'd weather the storm and obviously found out you couldn't. Horrible tactics. I feel bad for him and he's a nice guy and props to him for getting in there with someone with such a fearsome rep. But I had misgivings well before the first bell. And halfway through the first round I knew it wouldn't go much further. With his tactics he needed power of his own to keep Kovalev off. He doesn't have that. 12 ko's out of 26 wins. I've never believed Cleverly to be at world level. But he's only 26 and can come back better. On a side note it was an utter embarrassment to see Terry O'Connor jump in between them to stop the fight, and then change his mind as the bell went a split second later and opt to let Cleverly go back to his corner and come out for the next round. Angles was the key. Kov's right is powerful but telegraphed. Cleverly was avoiding it well but he barely sought to hook. I think only on one occasion did he move to the left and hook after the right. He landed it flush but for whatever reason he didn't go down that road again. It's sad as he could have caused Kov many problems and neutralised his right.

For reasons already explained. I was gonna get some boys to green you up due to your good humour over it, but I won't now. Tis cool. I consider it an honour to get red k'd by Annie. Limey lounge legend.

Seems to me like he wanted to impress and I guess try to prove a point or something. Not sure what made him stay in with a Power Puncher like he did when he probably should have been using his Jab and taking advantage of his 1.5 or 2 inch reach advantage HE HAD NO STRATEGY!
