Yep him hanging out with someone who robbed a fcking check cashing place 7 years ago is so terrible and fcked up. How can anyone support that man wow.
:lol1: You can't be serious
I gave 3 solid reasons why I supported the previous posters' assertion that Davis has "character flaws".
Who he hangs out with.
How he handles criticism.
What's his modus operandi.
I closed my post with the following:
Gervonta is actually a soft spoken guy who I'd probably like more if he wasn't all about the bling & was simply more about the "work" rather than the "show".
If you can't see the merrits here, then it's you that's simply turning a blind eye to justified criticism.
Moving on...
So just because he hangs out with people who have records means he is a criminal and a bad person?? Lmfao
He isn't allowed to respond to a woman who has been publicly disrespecting him?
Lol you are trying way to hard to find reasons to hate Gervonta Davis. Its kind of weird man :lol1:
Trying? Didn't take any effort at all, it's about his actions. & oh yes, who you hang out with definitely affects your reputation...just ask Michael Vick, Tiger Woods or a multitude of other athletes who've lost millions in canceled endorsement deals if you don't believe me.
“Blurring” and “tarnishment” are the two types of harm that arise from association.
Edit: Of course he can respond or defend himself...but how about with some class?
G F yourself. I support good guys, not classless POS guys.
What makes you think that? Explain yourself
Seriously? The guy hangs out & idolizes Broner & Cassanova, need I say more?
Broner who's been arrested multiple times from aggravated robbery, felonious assault with a club to intimidating a witness & domestic violence, acts a total fool in the ring like after the Vargas fight...etc, etc.
Casanova who came off a 7-year prison sentence for robbing a check-cashing spot for $15,000 & got arrested an hour later.
Check my rap sheet I'm a known robber. At your kids school they can get it like ghost daughter.Told your ass before I won't respond to no diss track.Keep a big no fries come with this big Mack so get back. The Industry gone pay tho I'...https://t.co/sZc1HaL8Us pic.twitter.com/FpRm6sL5Sm— CASANOVA (@CASANOVA_2X) December 12, 2017
These are his friends & role models? Smart guys.
Come on man, just cause he happens to be from America doesn't mean he deserves unconditional support, rather it's earned. How about treating women with class? Especially former boxers that have their own radio show on the sport.
https://i2.wp.com/www.boxingnewsandviews.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/2.jpg?w=619&ssl=1
I like you more when you showing ya ******* and ***** on FaceTime than on here running at the mouth https://t.co/h4zlrSuDHS— Gervonta Davis (@Gervontaa) December 16, 2017
Gervonta is actually a soft spoken guy who I'd probably like more if he wasn't all about the bling & was simply more about the "work" rather than the "show".
His fighters tend to be one-dimensional and fight the same way.
Yes, the same way that he trains? He only trains one style...the come forward action packed "Mexican" style that he's said time & again. You can't complain that his fighters aren't doing something different, because that's what they're supposed to do!
Now, if you're criticism is how they fail to adapt to the movers? Well, this is a valid complaint but it's not the same per circumstance since fighters present different problems.
ie...Gassiev put no pressure on Usyk whatsoever. He didn't fight the same as Golovkin at all. The critique here would be that why didn't he take more risks, especially when he was constantly being tee'd off on? Abel btw had the same comment in the post fight interview.
Golovkin vs Canelo 1: Golovkin also didn't throw as much as he should of, but I think he thought he was winning easily with the jab so felt no need. In fact I'd say that he should have backed off when Canelo was on the ropes (which he did a couple times) & simply outboxed him in the center of the ring. He was winning those exchanges easily & I could see him pull the Usyk role against Saul fairly easily. This didn't win him the fight though & it's counter to his entire strategy...of wanting to create a drama show, an actual fight.
I don't think Abel is the best trainer out there because he doesn't seem to change his strategy according to the opponent/fighter but he's very good at what he does do & his fighters are highly entertaining. I'd take them over say Virgil Hunter any day, win or lose...just more fun to watch.
If you could subscribe to only one service to quench your #boxing thirst each month which would it be?— Dan Rafael (@danrafaelespn) July 17, 2018
If I could only subscribe to one each month then it'd depend on the fights that month wouldn't it? Think I'd probably change my subscription each month.
Or it'd have to be about money right? Is this some sort of math problem? Espn+ is the cheapest so guess it'd be that one! DAZN twice as much with lesser fighters. SHO & HBO require cable plus premium subscriptions, so if I can afford either, think I can certainly afford the apps too if I wanted them.
What about the size of the screen? Actually the determining factor to me, along with all the other programming.
Maybe he's asking which has the better boxing so far this year? Why not just say that? Showtime.
What ward did was be more cautious he still lost the fight but he avioded the knockdown knowing he would win on fixed cards
I noticed he started going to the body more as the fight went on.
Andre was definitely more cautious & sure worked the body more in the later rounds, not just jabbing to the body but working the hooks & uppercuts inside the clinch.
The biggest adjustment that Ward made was managing the distance & not staying in the pocket! Go watch rnd#2 again. He was trying to counter the left jab of Kov with the overhand right but got beat to the punch. Kovalev was ready for this with own right hand. So Andre didn't try to counter that jab the rest of the fight (except in the 10th & got clocked again for his effort). Every time Sergey stepped in, Ward would step back or step in himself trying to smother Kov & work the body. Ward simply worked the distance knowing he could cover it faster than Kovalev could. He's more athletic & was in better condition, using those two advantages to his favor & then got the benefit of the scorecards.
I think it was a very close fight with the KD being the difference in giving the nod to Sergey. In fact, if you look at both fights, Kov fought Ward tooth & nail through 19 very even rounds. Yet Ward will go down as an ATG while Sergey is now written off as over-hyped. Just shows how referee's & judges can really affect the legacy of any fighter.
I’m assuming he was going for a Boston Tea Party / American Revolution this get up since he’s American and Saunders is British and the fights in Boston and he kept screaming red coats or whatever
But he looked like a f.ucking ****sexual especially with those armbands. When I first saw it I kept on thinking about the pirate shirt on Seinfeld
Don’t know how he or his team thought it was a good idea to leave the house looking like that
^This. Didn't even show the pic with the jacket on.
https://i.makeagif.com/media/8-26-2018/ig2jbf.gif
Andrade was even calling the Brits "Red Jackets" during the press conference. Obviously not a history major, think he meant Red Coats 21:28. Demetrius also stated his best opponent to date was Vanes Martirosyan. He was absolutely cringe worthy although BJS had his funny spots like when he called Andrade Papa Smurf & The Karate Kid, then went on to call out some hot chick in the crowd who was swayed by his sweet talk & proceeded to pick him to win. 37:05
He's the B-side, asking for 50-50 is ridiculous. Every b-side fighter has always conceded to the A-side demands. You hear people calling Ward "97k"?
A ridiculous offer that he knew Ward wouldn't accept,
50/50 split and a catchweight?
50/50 isn't a legit offer?!
Only idiots call him that, get #'s from the same sources & seems his ppv/gate sales matched up pretty evenly with Ward even though Andre fought in Vegas in what should of been a much more demanded fight.
Kov v Ward 1 -- 165k ppv - 10,066 tix sold - $3.3M gate
Kov v Ward 2 -- 130k ppv -- 6,366 tix sold - $2.2M gate
GGG v Lemieux - 153k ppv - 20,568 tix sold - $2M gate
GGG v Jacobs --- 170k ppv - 19,939 tix sold - $3.7M gate
GGG v Canelo 1 - 1.3M ppv - 17,318 tix sold - $27.1M gate
GGG v Canelo 2 - ???
No he is not a bum, he is a good boxer but Not some ATG like people want to make him out to be...Canelo isnt all that either so not sure why you wanna throw him in my face..And why even mention Jacobs to me??? he is basic as hell
This is a convenient argument don't you think? Golovkin & Canelo both been listed in P4P lists for several years now.
How do you define elite since obviously being a reigning champion for years doesn't qualify either for your lofty standards.
DISCLAIMER**** This includes past, present & future world champions. So It could be 5 if jacobs ends up winning the IBF title soon.
That really puts things into perspective
No, it doesn't put things into perspective until you consider what champions he actually had the OPPORTUNITY to square off against.
I'll only use MW champions for this scenario but here's some food for thought:
Since Golovkin became WBA "regular" champ in 2010:
WBA Super Champs - 1 Champ willing to fight GGG.
Felix Sturm - flat avoided for 2 years
Daniel Geale - finally fought after avoiding mandatory & dropping belt
IBF Champs - 2 Champs willing to fight GGG
Daniel Geale - turned down unification twice - finally fought after loosing belt
Darren Barker - wouldn't even fight GGG for zero split of purse
Felix Sturm - continued to avoid Golovkin
Sam Soliman - turned down unification offer
Jermain Taylor - stipped of belt for trouble with law
David Lemieux - our first taker of the challenge!
WBC Champs - 1 Champ willing to fight GGG
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr - turned down unification offer
Sergio Martinez - turned down unification offer
Miguel Cotto - avoided mandatory
Saul Alvarez - finally fought after avoiding mandatory & dropping belt
WBO Champs - Questionable - circumstances didn't work out for the 2 signed
Dmitry Pirog - avoided unification twice - finally signed to fight GGG but suffered back injury & withdrew
Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam - dropped WBA interim when purse bid was ordered - turned down unification
Peter Quillin - turned down unification
Andy Lee - signed to fight GGG but Golovkin's father died & fight canceled. Then lost belt & became inactive.
Billy Joe Saunders - turned down unification twice - GGG has "perhaps" had the opportunity to face him in the last year, but Canelo has posed the better money & better ranking
So to summarize; How many Champs has Golovkin had the opportunity to actually face given the circumstances? About as many as he has. Now put the shoe on the other foot & ask this same question of other Champs & see how those numbers actually work out.
So then why didn't Bumlovkin fight Kell Brook @ 154? That would have been fair, right?
Brook asked for the fight, no? Why leave that part out? He wasn't chasing guys from lower divisions other than the two that held one of his MW belts hostage. Perhaps Floyd, but who wasn't? He was trying to garner big fights, guess it worked!
Please remind us of how many 168lb'ers Bumlovkin has faced...
I can tell you how many offers to 168 pounders that were turned down.
Edwin Rodriguez
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr
Carl Froch
Fedor Chudinov
Andre Ward
Tua vs Ibeabuchi will always be one of the most memorable to me simply 'cause I've never seen two heavyweights go at it that hard for 12 rounds. Bombs away! They were throwing down but neither could hurt the other. One fight I always wished had gone another 3 rounds or had a rematch.
Ibeabuchi landed 332 of 975 punches, and Tua landed 282 of 755 punches. They combined to throw 1,730 punches, which set the CompuBox record for punches thrown in a heavyweight fight. Ibeabuchi also set the individual record for punches thrown by a heavyweight, averaging over 80 thrown punches per round!
RJJ vs Tarver II will always be memorable for obvious reasons.
Jermain Taylor vs both Froch & Abraham. To be KO'd twice in a row with only :15 sec's left in each fight? WOW!
GGG's first fight in the United States was in 2012
GGG VS.
Ousmanu Adama Feb 1, 2014, Salle des Etoiles, Monte Carlo, Monaco
Daniel Geale July 26, 2014, Madison Square Garden, USA
Marco Antonio October 18 2014, StubHub Center, California
He was way past fighting in Kazakhstan at that point.
AGAIN, after 8 years as a PRO, and having fought in the USA, headlining HBO events, why wasn't he fighting Ward?
It seems you're not able to comprehend or weigh situations.
You're listing Canelo's fight vs Mayweather as some step up by him? It's the #1 money in the sport. Both GGG & even Ward wanted that fight & both were willing to give up more weight than Saul did in order to get it. It's Canelo's Mexican backing that got him the opportunity & elevated his name exposure. Everyone in boxing wanted that fight, it's what you call fortunate! Not some badge of honor!
The question you should be asking Saul is when he was the WBC MW champ why wasn't he fighting GGG? Why fight Khan, Smith & Chavez that all made him less money than Golovkin did? Why drop his MW belt?
GGG made an offer to Ward, a 50/50 split & meet in the middle offer! What can't you understand about that? What fight offers has Canelo ever made that haven't worked out? 10% or Flat fee to GGG?
Fought Adama because Quillin (WBO MW Champ) turned down offer & wouldn't unify.
Fought Geale because he was a former 2x Champ that had even dropped the WBA in order to avoid GGG earlier. This was after JCC had turned down his offer for a big $ fight.
Fought Rubio to force WBC Mandatory position. This was after the IBF Champ Soliman had turned down his offer to unify.
3 Champs that turned him down in the same year! The reasons are pretty simple but you'd have to accept reality to understand the situations.
The first Canelo-GGG fight was a draw.
How can anyone give props to the better fighter if the official result was that NO ONE was the better fighter?
Probably the same reason why many Golovkin fans praise Jacobs, even though he lost, officially! These same GGG fans also praise Canelo for the defense he showed in the first fight even though many believe he's the beneficiary of a corrupt system & often gets more respect than deserved for what he's failed to do in his toughest fights. Yet you hear the same Canelo fans piss on Golovkin even though he was the better fighter in both bouts.
Shoulda coulda woulda hahahahaha
The fact is that GGG has only faced 4 world champions :lol1:
If that makes you happy? He also has 20 defenses & held 3 of the belts! Kinda shortens the pool available don't ya think?
Ward was the champ, he was A-side.
Demanding the fight at 164 was a bitch move, especially after all the crying he did at Canelo's 155 weight.
Ward was the champ of what exactly? He fought Paul Smith on June 20th @ 171¾lbs. He wasn't even a SMW champ at that time. GGG made his offer 2 weeks after that fight, yet it took Andre a month to respond after GGG moved on & was finalizing the Lemieux fight. There was no belt on the line so yes, a catch-weight was in order.
Canelo held the MW belt & GGG was his mandatory. You can't demand a CW for either. Golovkin got 30% split & then 45% split for the fights vs Canelo & also made them at 160. Guess it worked out for him?
Seems like Monroe is next for Charlo. Not an interesting fight at all but I guess he'll keep waiting until the WBC mandates him for the GGG vs Canelo winner.
He's not signing to fight anyone until after Sept 15th. He's hoping the WBC issues the mandatory before the winner can sign a unification (in that month window), otherwise he's waiting another 4-6 months for his WBC shot. He should of already signed & kept the same schedule as the champs so he'll be available but guess he doesn't want to stay active, even if not risky opposition. You're always free if you're just on stand-by I suppose.
WBC winner or if Jacobs wins are what he's holding out for.
I'm comprehending everything just fine. G-string is a duck. Plain and simple. 4 world champions fought in a 12 year career. There is no excuse for that. No matter how hard you G-string cuckboys try to excuse it.
"147-168 anyone can get it" were his quotes. Why ask for a catchweight? Why complain about Canelo's made up weights and then ask for a 164 non-existant weight limit with Ward?
fuck outta here with that shit.
He's the B-side, asking for 50-50 is ridiculous. Every b-side fighter has always conceded to the A-side demands. You hear people calling Ward "97k"?
No, GGG was & is the A side vs Ward, where's your name for his ppv sales in his biggest fight? But GGG still made a fair offer knowing Andre couldn't draw much interest himself, he still was willing to take on the challenge at middle ground. Much more fair than Canelo's to GGG! Switch the shoe on the foot. Why did Canelo want a made up weight vs GGG even though he was the MW Champ at the time & Golovkin was his mandatory? Not meet in the middle at 157.5, not split the proceeds more equitably. Why offer 10% even though Mandatory deserved much more? Yet you say GGG's offer wasn't fair to Andre? WTF?
You asked why GGG fought those 3 & I gave you the reasons. You keep changing the goal posts.
Btw, the quote was 154 to 168, not 147 but hey, why start getting your facts right now?
Great post, but i dont think you can reach certain posters with proper arguments.
I dont understand why they somehow all forgot that golovkin was once considered the most avoided boxer.
Oh, I realize that. It's the usual suspects throwing out slanted views without weighing the facts. Notice I listed all 16 Champs yet none dispute the reasons why the 12 opportunities missed even happened. They're well aware of the circumstances yet continually choose to dismiss them because they don't fit within their agenda.
They laud Floyd & Canelo even though both are able to pick & choose who they fight & when. Yet if I was to scour threw their resumes there'd be multitudes of Champs who each CHOSE not to fight & then the real excuses come out. It's just a double standard, they realize this. It's the exact definition of prejudice & narcissistic personality disorder.
Thanks for the compliment btw.
Well, there's a definition for the word elite, and there's a definition for the word special. Words have specific meanings for a reason, and what I constantly see is people choosing to define "elite fighters" in a way that only supports their agenda.
Elite fighters are those at the top. Just because some fighters are elite in this generation, doesn't mean they would be elite in any other generation, but that's the way it works. That's why we can also classify fighters with other terms like hall of Famers, contemporary greats, all time greats, etc.
If you want to talk about special fighters, just say that, but we don't need to start coming up with our unique definitions of already existing terms. That's like me saying I only consider a fighter a champion if he unifies... who cares!? A fighter is a champion by holding a recognized championship belt and that's the end of that!
They are two different words.
Special is higher than elite.
All special fighters are elite.
Not all elite fighters are special.
Elite fighters are top ranked guys that have proven a lot in a few years. But we’ve seen many of them thruout history.
guys like cotto, sergio come to mind in the recent era. Elite during their primes but not special.
Special fighters are only few of their breed.
Great posts! It's the problem of some few not even understanding the meaning of the word or inventing "their own" determination strictly to fit into the agenda their pushing.
elite
noun
”a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of the group or society”
Fighters who have separated themselves from thousands – or tens of thousands – of other fighters in the world. Pound for pound is the elite of the elite.
There's a whole article on this discussion just last month over on BLH with 157 comments.
Really hate the answer from Charlo when asked about fighting Monroe...that fight was talked about one time earlier this summer but Jermall says he wants the bigger names. So guess that answers that, going to milk his position & wait for the fall-out in the next couple months from all the other guys that are actually battling each other. Talk about not maximizing on his victories. He may just get left out in the cold again come winter time if winners decide to unify.
Mongoose stinking up the place
Just doesn't have that 2nd gear...let alone a 3rd. He'll always be a gatekeeper. He has skills though, just no killer instinct.
A robbery can often generate more interest for a rematch. It's not that. It's that people expected fireworks for the first one and it was anything but that. The reason every fighter says they're gunning to KO their opponent is that it sells fights. I think the fans fully expect both guys to fight smart and respect each other's power in the rematch, and that doesn't sell very well.
Perhaps more interest for us die-hards but not from the general public.
Here's some fairly recent big fight examples:
(For the record I'm not calling any of these "robberies" just controversial).
Kov v Ward 1 - 165k ppv - 10,066 tix sold - $3.3M gate
Kov v Ward 2 - 130k ppv -- 6,366 tix sold - $2.2M gate
Pac v Bradley 1 - 900k ppv - 13,229 tix sold - $8.9M gate
Pac v Bradley 2 - 800k ppv - 14,099 tix sold - $7.9M gate
Pac v Bradley 3 - 500k ppv - 13,046 tix sold - $6.4M gate
May v Maidana 1 - 900k ppv - 15,718 tix sold - $15.0M gate
May v Maidana 2 - 925k ppv - 14,859 tix sold - $14.9M gate
GGG v Canelo 1 - 1.3M ppv - 17,318 tix sold - $27.1M gate
GGG v Canelo 2 - ???
You ggg fans are pathetic! Always got to have an excuse or a narrative about every situation!
Whaa? Did someone say competitive advantage?

You fail to understand how this works...
If you want to challenge my claim you have to compose the argument. You don't get to post stupid, irrelevant examples and then tell me to do the research after you faceplanted. I could tell you were an idiot when you came back with the contrived "took the bait" quip which didn't even fit. :lol1: You're just copying what you see the other internet kids do and hope no one catches on that you can't hang in a debate. Lol...
Go hump someone else's leg. I'm not wasting any more time on you.
No, I supported my position while you only give an opinion! Then twice resort to calling names in an effort to bluster & scare off a perceived confrontation, which I was simply trying to provide some facts.
What are you basing your opinion off of? You gave no supporting evidence while I did the research to counter your arguement.
