Clenela and her team tried to duck this rematch. Facing GGG again is the last thing that this cheating diva wants to do. Don't be surprised if she pulls out of the fight next week with some fake injury.
As has already been mentioned ticket prices are pretty high for this fight. They were just as high for the first fight but it had the fact it was their first meeting going for it.
I was there and I noticed that some of the expensive seats dead centre in the upper portion of the lower bowl were not filled. These were tickets that were put aside by the fighters camps to sell themselves through hotel/package deals and through after market scalpers. Some still went unsold.
They didn't lower prices for the rematch and you've got to wonder why. The writing was on the wall. You've got the A side in the fight in Canelo coming off a failed drug test and suspension for PED's. Golovkin to my eyes looks like a shot fighter wearing cement shoes. He's just not what he once was. Did they really think it would do as well as the first fight? I think a lot of people are saying "stick those outrageous prices up your ass".
There are a lot of tickets left. A glaring indication is that when you go to the T-Mobile Arena site to buy tickets (it's run by AXS) you aren't able to see individual seats on the map, this is usually a sign tickets aren't moving too well and they don't want you to see all the plethora of available seats.
If you take a look at the upcoming McGregor-Khabib UFC fight in the same arena the first weekend of October they only have a handful of the most expensive seats left ($2,000 - $2,500 range). Everything else was sold out on the first day.
It's going to be a buyers market for Canelo-Golovkin tickets come fight weekend.
you should be able to snag a pretty good seat come fight day on the aftermarket for $500 if you're looking to go.
I'm not for the simple reason that Golovkin looks to me like a guy that's well past his prime. He's slowed considerably.
I favour Canelo to take the rematch by decision.
No, I supported my position while you only give an opinion! Then twice resort to calling names in an effort to bluster & scare off a perceived confrontation, which I was simply trying to provide some facts.
What are you basing your opinion off of? You gave no supporting evidence while I did the research to counter your arguement.

Are you McNulty's alt? Just curious, the false sense of intellectual superiority and smugness is really, really gay and annoying.
People are waiting for last minute prices. I am Mexican and we are cheap as hell. We want everything for free or close to it. Now stfu and stop trying to stain this fight dude. Ridiculous.
Agreed man, I am mexican too and not only are we cheap as hell, we are all a bunch of little queers that stick utensils up our asses and w4nk over Ryan Garcia. We all worship superior Puerto Rican men and their large peni$es and love when they steal our women.
So STFU OP, you don't know what you are talking about. Us mexicans run boxing!
:)
Doesnt help that virtually everyone left the first fight whether in person or on ppv disapointed and with a feeling that theyd been cheated along with the clear winner that night. I hope they lose their asses on this fight. Serves them right
Yep, this is what happens when corruption runs rampant in the sport.
every big fights, we always get threads like this.
"there's still a lot of tickets left".
then come fight night, its a full house.
there only 835 tickets left" :pat:
You fail to understand how this works...
If you want to challenge my claim you have to compose the argument. You don't get to post stupid, irrelevant examples and then tell me to do the research after you faceplanted. I could tell you were an idiot when you came back with the contrived "took the bait" quip which didn't even fit. :lol1: You're just copying what you see the other internet kids do and hope no one catches on that you can't hang in a debate. Lol...
Go hump someone else's leg. I'm not wasting any more time on you.

Umm, I specifically left the disclaimer that they weren't all robberies yet you still took the bait! Best list I could come up with.
Well do you have any comparables? Why crap on the list I provided & offer nothing once again except your opinion without backing anything up? The fact stands that re-matches RARELY draw more interest which is totally counter to your assertion!

What a terrible list of comparisons. Ward/Kovalev only had hardcore interests to begin with. Pac and Bradley didn't rematch until later on and Pac's solo drawing power was weakening by that point (amazing that he nearly pulled the same numbers and I credit that to the controversy from the first). And no one saw Mayweather vs Maidana as a robbery except for a few complete morons.

Perhaps more interest for us die-hards but not from the general public.
Here's some fairly recent big fight examples:
(For the record I'm not calling any of these "robberies" just controversial).
Kov v Ward 1 - 165k ppv - 10,066 tix sold - $3.3M gate
Kov v Ward 2 - 130k ppv -- 6,366 tix sold - $2.2M gate
Pac v Bradley 1 - 900k ppv - 13,229 tix sold - $8.9M gate
Pac v Bradley 2 - 800k ppv - 14,099 tix sold - $7.9M gate
Pac v Bradley 3 - 500k ppv - 13,046 tix sold - $6.4M gate
May v Maidana 1 - 900k ppv - 15,718 tix sold - $15.0M gate
May v Maidana 2 - 925k ppv - 14,859 tix sold - $14.9M gate
GGG v Canelo 1 - 1.3M ppv - 17,318 tix sold - $27.1M gate
GGG v Canelo 2 - ???

A robbery can often generate more interest for a rematch. It's not that. It's that people expected fireworks for the first one and it was anything but that. The reason every fighter says they're gunning to KO their opponent is that it sells fights. I think the fans fully expect both guys to fight smart and respect each other's power in the rematch, and that doesn't sell very well.

There doesn't seem to be much interest compared to last time. I know they're hyping it and it might have a bit more spice, but it doesn't have the same appeal as last time.
Last time, a lot of casuals were interested. Even people i know that barely watch boxing were talking about it, but i think the robbery left a sour taste in a lot of peoples mouths and drove them away.
I think you got right to the core of the problem. People don't want to be played as suckers.
Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me
