lol damn Floyd got ethered, thanks for bumping this :lol1:
Can't nobody say **** now though. Mayweather has some good fights since that interview. I want to see what RA would say today if they talked again.
Jones, Malignaggi and Bernstein.
I feel like this would be the most accurate approach to what we see in the ring. Having 2 fighters sit and observe, give you info based off experience. Jones is always on point and Malignaggi these days has been really knocking my socks off with how legitimate and solid his info/feedback is. I don't really like his scoring but he atleast has decent reasoning behind it and I can't fault him for that.
Lampley is fun to listen to but he's a casual fan's color commentator. I get into it with Lampley, he has the conviction, passion and urgency in his voice. Comes up with some interesting analogies and overall sounds it's spot on of what you may think a commentator should sound like. Sometimes I think he displays bias and over looks some of the real stuff that happens in the ring, thats when Jones, Foreman or Lewis come in and give it some unf.
Kellerman is becoming a puppet, he started off really great in 08/09. It sounded genuine and he loved the sport for what it was. Now in 12/13 he's coming off asskissy. Broner doesn't put on these marvelous and magnificent performences, so much that you forget all about the other guy or disparage him. You don't make the fighter out to be way better than he is if what he does is so limited. It's one thing to play favorites or pick sides, it's another to flat out suck his dick. He used to be objective, now it seems like hes picking and choosing who to big up. Not to hate or take away from Broner, he's just the easiest example for this case.
Merchant tries too hard to be Shakespeare. He might as well start dress Elizabethan with ruffle shirts and stupid big hats that have a collage of long feathers sticking out. Some stuff he used to say back in mid 90s were cool, he faded hard as it goes into 2000s and from time to time he would say some deep, old man quotes precisely describing or capturing what happened. Though, for the most part, he really fell off. So then he sounds like a poet trying to talk about boxing, on top of it hes extremely opinionated. Which is fine sometimes but it clouds his judgement and it makes him look vindictive.
The showtime crew is starting to grow on me but it's here and there still. Brian Kenny tries to be genuine, he really seems like a true fan and doesn't let it get to him emotionally or sucked into the entertainment. Then again, I'd rather hear more from him to give a final opinion.
The other guy besides Bernstein is fairly accurate about whats going in in the ring too, he's not biased but he...doesn't...sound as knowledgeable? He knows the punches but doesn't get the motive behind?..Sorta?
I wish Tyson commentated man...Seriously, him boxing and him talking boxing is night and day. He's a great boxer, hes an even greater observer. Not to mention he articulates so well.
It's looking like a good year for Malignaggi. Honestly, he's making me a fan. He may not be the best boxer in the world or anything but the dude seems legit and full of fight in him.
Broner was emotional each time they exchanged. Malignaggi hit him with facts just about every time and Broner kept talking about Malignaggi's clothes and girl but didn't talk about anything to do with boxing except the money and Malignaggi's KO record.
First Thurman tried to step up and got stomped. Now Broner. Can't seem to slow this guy down.
I remember watching Roy Jones Jr and De la Hoya growing up. My dad is the only casual boxing fan in my family and I always knew about the sport but it wasn't until recently where I found it to be my thing.
What really got me hooked was Pacquiao/Morales, I was getting into boxing (transitioning from casual/nothing to die hard) on a Pacquiao binge and came across this fight, remembering who Morales was. I forgot how he fought though and just the way Morales didn't let Pacquiao bully him was so impressive, I still get goosebumps over it today.
Life's been a ride ever since.
Really? You guys think he's fading? I just thought he was being reserved or lazy. I mean you don't go from probably the best performance of your career to sub-par. You can chalk it up as you like, I think he was trying to pull Murray into something else so he can look spectacular and it just didn't work out that way. What matters is that he got the win.
I say Ortiz was more impressive. Guerrero didn't box at all man, he was just in there being tired, getting hit and throwing anything he had.
With Ortiz, it felt like more of a boxing match. Hurt Berto in a back and forth war. Hell that's why there's a need/want for a rematch.
I don't know if he should rematch Guerrero. Though, it'd be sick if he beat both of them and came back to finally fight Mayweather huh?
I remember of the first 4 rounds I gave Cotto rounds 2 and 3, Mayweather rounds 1 and 4.
Actually I scored the fight for Cotto by the way.
HBO commentary is disgraceful biased for Mayweather. The british commentators were taking it to an absurd level where they were praising Mayweather in scenes in which Cotto was taking it to him.
Thats what happens when you have a bunch of people who don't know about boxing talk about the fight. I'm not talking about just following and knowing whose who but those who are submersed in the craft of it, not the entertainment.
I mean, I get there has to be a prize to it. Time equals money. It's tough, wish that the world itself wasn't ran on currency, then again would we have half the fighters we talk about and idolize?
I wish there was something more, in some way you have to love it. You're getting punched. Not something that we should be doing. If you don't love it, you don't nurture it and yourself properly or as best as you can.
There is too much business involved. Possibly because the amount of money boxers make now opposed to 30 or 40 years ago.
Nothing. HBO is locked into him. Paulie at this stage of his career can win the fight. Everyone is laughing at the fight but Paulie will give him some trouble.
A loss wouldn't drop his stock much at all really. And Paulie won't put a beating on him. This kid is going to lose fights. People need to really stop thinking he's Floyd.
I don't think it's that he won't lose fights, I don't think he makes it to 30 wins undefeated. He's just obnoxious. confidence is a built, arrogance is earned but obnoxiousness is uncalled for.
With that said, Paulie could make it an interesting fight, regardless of losing or winning. I think Broner will have a second chance but it'll be a big deal if he loses. Paulie won't get much credit for it unless he pulls a Mayweather/Gatti type beating OR he knocks Broner out.
Otherwise...I'm not sure if Paulie will do it...Time to watch some Malginaggi fights, again.
lol if that's not a troll attempt I don't know what is
Relax, my answer is genuine. What makes you think I'm trolling? I don't come on here in spite of other people, that's ridiculous.
Nope. Not Malignaggi, not at this stage. I've said multiple times if you take the Paulie from 2-3 years ago vs this version of Broner, Paulie schools him. But if you watched Paulie's last fight you could tell his legs are gone. He doesn't have the same movement and his reflexes have diminished.
Us Broner "haters" can only hope Paulie sprays some deer antler velvet on those legs and rejuvenates them one last time. :lol1:

Imagine if he did? Think of how high Malignaggi might go, but he won't get full credit unless he knocks Broner out, which may very well not happen.
Either way, I don't see how people rate this guy so highly. He's not improving, he's getting by. He's been the same fighter since 4 round fights.
Paulie has the skills, Broner has the youth. It'll be interesting.
You want us to tell you what we think about something that he hasn't shown but YOU THINK is there? :nonono:
What I can do is tell you about what we've seen and that's no footwork. A wide stationary stance which will struggle vs someone who moves and doesn't stand there when he walks them down.

A little harder than I thought. I took into consideration their longevity, competition, skill, wins and losses. I can sit here all day and nitpick but I think this covers it.
I say Cotto wins that fight. Even if the Victor that showed up for Berto comes into the ring. The Cotto that fought Mayweather/Margarito will be problems for Ortiz.
Someone said it previously though. Ortiz needs to take the winner of Maidana/Lopez. That'll REALLY put him back on the radar. Especially if he wins.
Ps. You guys need to realize that his jaw breaking had nothing to do with Lopez. There are several factors that could go into it, your jaw just doesn't get punched once and breaks. It could be dietary, accumulation of small degeneration from fights or maybe things that happen outside of boxing that we may not know. Either way, stop giving him **** for it. It's wack to go into a fight, talk and then quit but it's a sport and he had every right to, if he felt that it was too much. Since he was winning the fight.
There is no other way around Floyd's call out but to fight. Seriously. Whats rough for them is that, Arum and Pacquiao know that Mayweather is the end of the line.
I had already bought tix. Flight and hotel room.. Thanks Top rank you pieces of sh!t for wasting my hard earned money!! At least use some lube when you bend us over and fuck us!!
Seriously man, I totally agree. What the...How are you going to announce the fight is in MSG and then it doesn't end up in MSG because you didnt ASSURE the spot for good? I mean we still have til tomorrow to find the final verdict but I mean it shouldn't even be a question, if its almost sold out. How are you going to refund the money?
LOL, so what exactly is Pacquiao's prime? He was 27 at that time, if thats not your physical prime than I don't know what is. He had stopped Barrera just two years before. I'm guessing you consider Pacquiao's prime to be that period of time where he was/is beating up on older, past prime, flat footed, weight drained fighters. Basically every fight he's faced since the first Morales fight.
This. You practically took the words right out of my mouth, thank you.
I'd like to add...Pacquiao used both of his hands...So when did he go from a "one handed" fighter to a "two handed" fighter? By Hatton? And if so, what was the dramatic change? He has looked the same since his first draw in las vegas.
the reason no one respects marquez is because he had 3 chances to beat pac and lost all 3 times.
in order to earn my respect, you have to beat pac in his prime, which no one has done.
Really?
What about this though? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Bm5QLIcDU0
Ps. 4:40
i am soooooo happy i got ring side tickets for this!!! thank you baby Jesus!!
What!? How much did it cost you? That's so crazy man! We should get a meeting at this event. Boxingscene meet up or something...
Man that was intense....... I can imagine Cotto thinking 'I'm going to hit that eye until it ****s up'
Cotto's Character irritates me for some reason because you can't see any type of emotion, But in this one he was really calm in a scary way. Good fight on December 3!
Cotto has revenge on his mind, he's definitely thinking "I'm not going to make the same mistakes twice, this guy is done"
It was awesome but the fight was not sold out. I guess arum didnt do his job promoting. I've been to several other PPV fights but nothing like a Puerto Rican vs Mexico weigh in and fight. Its exciting as hell. Too much pride between both countries. I think there were more Puerto Ricans at the weigh in for that fight but when fight night came around, the stadium was packed with mexicans and the Cotto chants were completely nothing compared to MARGARITO & MEXICO chants. Very good weekend. My best weekend in Vegas despite the Cotto loss.
I got 300 section for this ($100). I've learned throughout the years that I can easily get upgrades for these fights that arent sold out. I went for Juanma vs Marquez last November and paid $34 for my ticket. Got an upgrade to like a $300 seat. Hopefully MSG can hook it up if seats are empty.
Thats crazy, I'm hoping to make the Weigh in. I'm going to NY that Thursday. I'm in the 200 section. I didn't know about the upgrades so I tried to put myself in a good spot. I think this time Cotto's chants will be more live.
I'm hoping Marquez puts it on Pacquiao.
Chavez jr over Manfredo Jr
Cotto beats Margarito
Peterson over Khan.
I have to agree with TS, I'm very excited for the upcoming bouts. Especially because I have my ticket to go see Cotto/Margarito! :boxing: I'm dying to see the face off.
I'll be there!! Went to the first one, cant miss th 2nd!!
You were at the first one? How crazy was the crowd? Did you get lucky and get a good section btw?
It broke my heart watching Cotto fight with everything he has, just to come to an ugly conclusion. I became a bigger fan of Cotto after watching that happen to him. I always had the feeling Cotto had to get him back. This face off is going to be great, I'm so excited for it! the 24/7 is going to be the best one this year and the fight is going to be INSANE!
I'm going to see it live, is anyone else going?
