lol Roy is often the only one who actually tells the story of what is happening and even what will happen in that ring.
Yesterday was a great exemple, when he tells Max it's not good to fight GGG as if you've seen it all before. He correctly stated Vanes needed to respect the power at that early stage in the fight even after having a very good first round.
How come Mikey is cashing out as if everyone's been waiting in line to fight Errol Spence Jr.? Khan and Brook just got lucky in the Canelo and GGG sweepstakes, who where much bigger stars than Spence currently is. A cashgrab would be against and old Pacquiao or a Keith Thurman coming of a injury.
A similar move in my opinion would be Canelo taking on someone like Beterviev, or Usyk or mayb taking on a Wilder or Joshua. I've said if Mikey wins this fight then theres no reason to not expect him to clean out the Welterweight pbc division in a few great fights and then have a final showdown with Crawford for WW supremacy. A run like that would be just as impressive as when Pacquiao made DLH quit and then when out to dominate in crazy fashion.
I don't believe he will win though. Spence is the truth.
Anyone who thinks Mayweather-Cotto is a bad fight either didn’t watch the first match or is just a hater of one the fighters for some childish reason.
Most people who likes either fighter will tell you its one of the best fights by both men because of what they brought out each other. It was neither's best performance, though...
Why would people would like to see Floyd’s final fight against yet to prove fighters Brook, Garcia, Thurman or Khan (ffs) ?? He just out-classed another ATG, seriously…
Go out with a fellow HOFamer and a chance to win a belt in another weight division.
I think the fights he wants to retire on is either JMM or Canelo in the fall. So there are two different routes.
For JMM, I like the idea of fighting someone like Collazo at a CW in March-April.
If Hearn offers a good deal for Brook in NYC I would take that as well and maybe postpone it to June. The same applies for Arum with a Bradley fight. Both fights in the range of 150-154 lbs.
If he wins, and hopefully JMM wins his tuneup fight in the meantime, then make that retirement party for the fall in Las Vegas.
If he plans on getting that Canelo rematch, then I would like to see him first against Bradley, Brook or Trout (better yet if the foght is offered on short notice as a Kirkland replacement) closer to the 154 lbs.
If he wins then fight a champ at 154 lbs while the Canelo/Chavez/GGG unfolds.
Then retire on the rematch, which could happen on May 2018 after the GGG fight. A passing of the torch retirement fight.
Wouldn't mind watching it at 130 if Juanma wins Saturday and Gamboa wins his come back fight. It could regain some of its luster if they look good and be a good co-main event or the undercard of a big fight.
Amir should fight Devon Alexander around July/August and the winner gets Mayweather in the fall around November. **** the September date if its not gonna be against Canelo, because if not we'll probably get a Khan/Floyd fight after those horrible performances by Khan.
I think Pacquiao stops him at welterweight, I don't think that was Trinidads best weight. Cortes a fighter that fights similar to Pacquiao almost knocked him out at the end second round with 1 shot.
Tito would get knocked down, pissed off, and then obliterate Pacquiao into submission.
Just like he did there. Putting Tito down early has proven to be fatal.
IMO Bruce was first a martial artist, then an actor and entertainer. I don't know about Bruce being ko'd by sportsmen in a real fight. Just remember in a real fight there's no rounds, no gloves, no referee, no illegal blows, no rules... I'd be really surprised if a real fight between skilled martial artist such as Lee lasts more than 3 minutes.
I think Cotto would've beaten any ww other than Pac on the nov 14. He showed he still has good reflexes, good physical condition/stamina, good footwork, and solid boxing overall, the only thing lacking was the power he once had. And thats the reason I dont like him in 154. He could fight Foreman in June if he wants a third title, but for his last shot at glory I would prefer him against Berto in June for the WBC title. Then, assuming both Pac and Floyd wins their next fights, have a rematch either Mosley or Clottey, the one that performed better. For his final fight it would be nice to see him up against Floyd, but since that will never happen, a rematch against Margarito (if he positions himself as a top level fighter again) in Puerto Rico and then retire.
If Jeff Horn still has any dignity left he should just shut up after this and do exactly as he says.
Earn your stripes at least with a former world champ such as Katsidis himself.
Used to loved watch him fight a few years ago. Dude was crazy relentless and had a very awkard right hand plus that left hook that sent JMM down was beautiful to watch.
Was rooting for him vs. Guerrero but he did looked shot in the last couple outings since. I heard something like his brother died in that time and probably it took a lot out of him mentally. I thought that's what it looked like to me.
I hope with the lay-off he recovers enough physically and mentally to grab a couple of W before calling it a career rather sooner than later, cause styles like that shouldn't stick around for too long either.
Rooting for him vs. Horn (even though I haven't seen Horn fight yet though!) War Katsidis!
This is some funny sh*t. Made my morning mood.
They seem to genuinely want to fight for whatever reason, so let them fight.
I'll watch, it's not a bad match up at this point. Hoping for a very funny fight in which no one gets seriously hurt.
I'm from P.R. and this is a disgrace for Puertorican boxing.
I guess Juanma might as well go work in a ****in circus after he retires. Anything for a few bucks smh.
were people booing the decision? I went outside for a bit and missed the decision.
Yes. Maybe a little more that half the arena.
After the fight I went to take a piss and most people were talking about how the scores where a little too wide. I think it was 116-110 for two judges and 117-109 all for Nonito.
When Juarez went to get some feedback from the crowd it was mostly applauses.
You would think they would the decency to at least do this kind of fight mid-year before even attempting to fight the García vs. Mathysse/Peterson, but no. Instead, what we get is Khan getting the winner of the tourney by looking horrible against lesser foes, just to get sadly and shamefully knocked out.
Canelo's meteoric rise?
Doesn't meteorites actually FALL from the sky in great flash of light?
Hang on tight cause that's what we are about to see come Nov 21 when Cotto knocks him out.
It will be back to the drawing board for Canelo and Oscar so good timing with the multi-fight contract.
FOTY for me if Pacquiao-Cotto doesn't top this one...
I hope this is a great learning experience for Juanma. He cannot rely on his power alone to win fights. From now on there will be guys able to take his power for 12 rounds and give fire back... If he works on stamina and punch precision he'll still compete against the elite level. He has to work on sticking to the gameplan and using intelligence in the ring. Stop the ****in slugfests:D! Can't say it wasn't entertaining to watch tho :D
Great heart from both guys, props to Mtagwa for putting such a fight.
Dont like this fight, at all. Cotto needs a meaningful fight he can win. If theres none at 154 then Go Down to 147 or if you cant retire. Waiting more than a year to fight and then choosing a beltless K9, smh.
I was at the fight and it was an amazing performance by both fighters.
Nonito looked blazing fast with the right hand counter and Juarez was relentless. Respect to both.
From what appeared to me in the arena, the knockdowns won the fight for Nonito. :boxing: It would be a very close if not for that.
And once again, the scorecards where a disgrace that didn't reflect what happened in the fight.
Juarez deserved applause but I hope you are not implying the decision was wrong coz anyone who thinks nonto lst this fight is a certified dumbass
fight was way too easy to score
Yes I agree. Nonito won clearly especially with the knockdowns.
But I think part of that extra-love for Juarez from the crowd was due to the scoring, which was a little to wide.
What happened with scores reflecting the actual fight and not some agenda$ due to who is fighting..? Nowadays you get close fights scored as shout-outs, split or majority decisions out of nowhere on fights that aren't even close.. how come its not a big issue in boxing?
How come many people on this forum think Canelo is more likely to face GGG, when everytime anyone ask him about GGG himself he says that he has no intention of going up to 160 and that he is feeling comfortable making his Super Welterweight of 155 lbs.
But when they ask Cotto about fighting GGG and he says they can make the fight after he cashes in with Canelo, people say he don't want the fight.
You have to understand Cotto has being a champion many years before most of you were even users on this site. He is on his way out and it's about making the biggest fights possible before calling it quits.
If I were him and won the Canelo fight, I would call out Floyd for a rematch in the post fight interview, if he don't take it (probably won't), look for a Canelo rematch fight if the first fight was close, and then fight GGG in MSG.
I couldn't careless if they strip the title or not, since I'd be busy making the best fights in a reasonable priority. A title at the $tar level is just a little bargaining leverage against other $tars. GGG can be challenged at anytime and he will take it.
The guys not even a top 30 fighter. There’s A lot of unknown guys in Mexico that will stop him.
Nonesense, if you had watched any of his last few fights you'd know he would stop and damage everyone who dares stands and trade with him. It will take a decent boxer to outbox him (without getting wet) and I don't see nobody from Mexico doing that.
PR will have a new, real champ come Oct 15.
Matias got beat up by that Armenian guy. He doesn’t deserve a title shot. That belt has no value.
You mean the one he just beatdown and TKO'd in his last fight? Time to pay more attention once Matias gets that belt he will be the boogeyman of the division.
Solid fight!
Curious to see who manages that long distance range. I got Sniper by UD by outboxing and playing defense in close distance exchanges. I see a frustrated Commey looking for desperate KO headshots and getting tired in later rounds.
