You will realise that in these threads the people who like to talk bad about Rees are English and either are huge nut huggers of Hatton or they just disslike Welsh people.
There is a reason that aside from M'Baye Rees has fought bums and that is he was a bum himself untill recently ... at least people thought that. He proved he can cope at the top level when he beat M'Baye and will defend his title against a very tricky opponent in his next fight.
Props to Rees.
he saw a chance to get a world title, he worked hard and got it.
going to bump this up, seems people back amir khan the most over-hyped geezer in british boxing history to beat rees, manny pacquaino and even ricky hatton. who has amir beat?
floyd landed punches at a ridiculously high percentage.
no matter how weak the puncher or how good the chin if you get hit enough times eventually those punches add up and can lead to a knockdown or knockout.
even the featherfisted malignaggi was able to get a quick knockdown of ndou in their fight (it wasnt nothing spectacular but paulie kept landing punches and landing punches) and once ndou jumped forward paulie was swinging with a right cross to the double force of impact made up for paulie's lack of power...thats very similar to what happened to hatton...hatton jumped RIGHT INTO that check hook.
same goes for katsidis v. casamayor (not saying casamayor is feather fisted) but katsidis jumped right into that shot from casamayor that put him down and eventually led up to the knockout win for casamayor.
and as far as that check hook from mayweather goes (not taking credit away from mayweather...i think hatton would have still fell) but the ring post gave a little assistance to be completely honest and fair.
erm how did mayweather score a high percentage of punches on hatton? mayweather hit hatton about 6/7/8 times average each round. basically the whole of your post you just write was crack. The highest times he hit him was 15 in round 9 or 10. Hatton for the record was hitting mayweather around the same times. Both landed 30+~ punches each round.
what about the lazcano fight?
paulie is certainly more talented/skilled than lazcano and he gave hatton a run for his money at certain points of the fight...even hurt him...
paulie wont hurt hatton...but i think he has enough speed to slow hatton down like hatton wore down against lazcano...
HOW did lazcano give hattona run for his money? he lost EVERY round! oh round 10? if the ref didn't interfere, he would of clinched his way to recovery like hes done all his career. every fight gets rocked, you just gotta be hit in the right place, remember lazcano knocked 65% of his opponents out previously.
its obvious "the italian" is going to route for paulie...
ok guys, take another look at the hatton vs collazo fight. collazo a lot bigger, a lot bigger punching and VERY fast at punching. his punches were like lightning and hes a southpaw to top it off. hatton was hurt on multiple occasions but was still able to hurt collazo, touch him and win the match importantly. remember collazo was a 27-1 WBA champ, so was no pushover.
Paulie is NO collazo.
mayweather fight, another fight at welter. for the first 6 rounds, it was a closer fight than the second half. many people including hbo had hatton winning... mayweather has AMAZING defence, and AMAZING handspeed, yet hatton WAS able to break through his defence. people criticise hatton for his own defence but mayweather was only able to hit hatton 5-10 times on average per round, missing 20 odd punches.
Paulie is NO collazo.
What I think paulie has is handspeed, movement but what else has he to trouble hatton? he hasn;t got the power or upper weight of collazo, or the defence of mayweather... cotto was over-rated at LWW, thats why he couldn't tko him.
prediction:
hatton will swarm paulie with multiple punches, constantly going forward, getting picked off with a jab, hatton will out-wrestle paulie, paulie will try and colpy mayweathers tactics, but hes not skilled or strong enough and it will make him suffer.
hatton tko/ud.
op is lieing
1 1 490 FLOYD MAYWEATHER Welterweight
2 2 233 MANNY PACQUIAO Jr. Lightweight
3 3 116 JOE CALZAGHE Super Middle/
Lt. Heavyweight
4 4 62 JUAN MANUEL MARQUEZ Jr. Lightweight
5 5 102 BERNARD HOPKINS Lt. Heavyweight
6 6 42 ISRAEL VAZQUEZ Jr. Featherweight
7 7 50 MIGUEL COTTO Welterweight
8 8 156 RICKY HATTON Jr. Welterweight
9 9 11 KELLY PAVLIK Middleweight
10 - 1 CRISTIAN MIJARES Jr. Bantamweight
No question about it... Pavlik was dominated from round one whereas Cotto was dominating but couldn't take the punishment from Magarito, pointless debate. A Hatton and Pavlik debate is more debatable than this.
I am cool sir but my mom is dead so comments about her piss me off. My wife is alive and she only take euro dollars since the American dollar is in the shit$er. So tell Duke he tries to leave with out paying her and she might give him an @ss whipping.
If you could asswhip a former world champ then it'd be amusing.
wWatch some of hattons earlier fights, hatton has actually got a good boxing brain. I think mayweather is just going to revive the old hatton. Its true though, while he was training with billy graham, he was more or less training himself, using billy graham as a punch bag.
To be honest with you, I think his rep will get inflated way too much after his Khan win. He can crack, but he's really not that talented of a fighter. Thats probably why promoters aren't jumping all over him for a contract.
no but promoters understand how gullable the pblic are, all the majority of the public thought was that khan was world class then briedes blows him away.... briedis is hot property, at least into he gets exposed.
Sure you can beat amir khan in a street fight, theres no rules in a street fight limiting you to only punches, and they must land in certain areas. In a street fight, you can rugby tackle them, wrestle them, pinch them, bite them anything. OFC if he got some good combo punches on you before you could attack him, it'd be night night most likely.
Naseem Hamed got beat up in a pub, one of the best pfp punchers ever. (though he got sucker punched first)
he will lose a close decision. Paulie fights a style that makes it hard for opponents to ko him.
you're making him sound like balboa, where his only chance of winning is by KO... newsflash, hatton only has a 67% KO rate.
don't see how paulie can win, whys everyone over-rate him so much? people moan about hattons last two fights but what about paulies? he almost got beat both times, infact he robbed against lovemore....
dont see how people rate judah at all... thouight it was agreed the guys got no mentality or heart whatsoever... he loses almost all the time.
Just because hatton was "HURT" doesn't mean judah can knock him out, he LOST TO CARLOS BALDOMIR FFS. lol.
I've been reading a lot on these boards about this Zelenoff guy. He seems to be the butt of a fair few jokes.
Can someone give me some background info on the situation? Did he post here organise a fight and get his ass kicked by another member or something?
he got a pro license with NO amateur experience whatsoever. he fought andrew hartley from orgnaised on boxingscene. for the first minute of the fight, he was doing well, landing punches and avoiding then andrew landed maybe 3 punches and charlie quit. DQ.
i reckon any midget smaller than andrew hartley whos had 1 year or much less amateur expeirence, would be able to take him down... I don't understand why these guys never block, they just hit each other as if its a street fight.
Uhm, amir khan after 18 fights has prob one of the best CVs out of most fighters in the world. Sur ehe fights a lot of hasbeens but still... hes only had 18 fights, give him a break.
Look at ricky hatton and joe calzaghe after 18 fights, they were joke of careers but they still had a fanbase, eh?
And c-drone its the brits who hate amirs hype, the yanks seem interested in him...
exactly, if there's both such disgraces we shouldn't even waste time talking about them "there disgraces" exactly, what else is there to say really?
why not talk about someone like Tye Fields who's actually good? wait God, that's more like it.
because its amusing to talk about bums sometimes
Thats true bro but styles make fights..
Im not sayin a dead cert Judah but i wouldnt write him off either
Judah has a great style, but as soon as he feels hurt he just starts to give up. Thing is would you rate Judah higher than Luis Collazo? I think Collazo edges him on speed anyway.
