Pavlik's was worse. By miles. Cotto just made the mistake of thinking he could hurt Margarito. I dont think you could have put any other fighter in to take the shots Margarito did that night and have them keep coming. So Cotto got tired, and Margarito turned up the heat and koed him. But Cotto was winning the fight and hitting Margarito with every single punch he threw for at least half the fight. Pavlik was an undefeated young champ who was fighting a man with 3 recent losses, and lost every single round. He didnt even land a clean punch. Cotto made a tactical error trying to stop Margarito, Pavlik just got schooled.
I like this.
Really you can spin it however you want but you dont quit. Pavlik, by probably the 8th round knew he didnt have a chance. He could have quit, or he could have had his corner stop it. It would have been accepted too, his corner throws in the towel. "We just didnt want him to take anymore, he was too young and unexperienced for this. We made a big mistake"
Hopkins was putting the pressure on Pavlik, he didnt take a knee, he didnt turn away and quit.
Cotto was winning, all he had to do was finish the fight. You cant really compare Cotto and Peter to Pavlik.
Cotto was not winning the fight, he would have lost by ud it he finished the fight.
Well Miguel will know he was winning the fight for a good while and took part in a classic fight
Pavlik will know he was Outclassed from the opening bell and took part in a classic PERFORMANCE that will be talked about as one of the most one sided of our time
It's one of the rare cases where a knockout loss was better than a decisioned loss.
People like Flawless make me wanna put a shotgun in my mouth. Cotto literally gave everything he had, and put up a great fight, he just had nothing left. You would have been more impressed had he got up and just left Margarito beat the shit out of him? It was over, it was the equivalent to getting knocked down and not being able to beat the 10 count, it was just from an accumulation than from one shot(Which is how Margo does it).
Pavlik was just outclassed, it looked like he had no business in the ring. Cotto engaged in a brutal war, in which he almost came out on top and fell just short. I don't see how this is even an argument.
Pavlik got outboxed and decisioned. Cotto got KTFO. The catchweight is a built in excuse for Pavlik and his backers, even tho it really wasn't what decided the fight.
cotto's loss is worst because he lost at his best weight while Pavlik lost at hopkinsweight of 170 which isn't even a real weightclass against a bonafide HOFer.
Whos lose was worser? Id say Cottos he started to get his ass beat By a jogging in Margarito, motha****a was bloodied all up.. Pavlik just got taught a lesson shit, Calzaghe's beating of Lacy was worst then Pavliks lose... However The Hopkins win was more exciting and historical, but Pavlik didnt real get busted up like the others, which make them worser in contrare
Pavlik by far is going to have the tougher hill to climb back up as far as confidence goes.
Cotto was very much in the fight against Margarito, but just got gassed and then hurt. He did a lot of good things in that fight he can build and improve upon.
Pavlik has nothing in his fight with Hopkins to build upon. He could not seem to do anything right. This is why we are seeing so many excuses. The only thing that will bring Pavlik back now, is a couple easy wins. He will be very hesitant going into his next fight as he will be questioning himself. How he handles it, will most likely dictate the remainder of his career.
Cotto fell apart late in his fight, but Pavlik was never in his.
Pavlik lost to a better fighter who is an ATG and a HOFer. Cotto lost to Margarito who isn't any of them. Pavlik was not stopped but got out hustled. Cotto was stopped and embarrassed like the coward and fraud he is. Pavlik did not quit while Cotto voluntary took 2 knees than quit like a coward. Cotto hype was a lot more than Pavlik Hype.
Cotto loss was embarrassing not to him but to his country and his family.
Tell us how you really feel.
true..but i remember someone said cotto loss was worser than pavliks because he quitted...but at least he fought back till he couldn't fight no more...pavlik was stumbling to wind up punches from b hop....thats embrassing....
"quitted"
Detluv where the **** did you learn english?
"worser" :lol1:
Definitely Pavlik. Cotto was handling Margarito until Margarito got to him. There is definitely hope for Cotto, and he can without a doubt win a rematch if he fights the right fight. Pavlik just got dismantled from start to finish, and there's no reason to think that he would beat B-Hop in a rematch.
