what do you think?
has he fought a decent fighter yet?
i laugh every time i see him in an interview talking about how close he is to a world title!!
he has been down more times than a hooker!!!
i think he and frank warren are fucking laughable!!!
cheers
Uhm, amir khan after 18 fights has prob one of the best CVs out of most fighters in the world. Sur ehe fights a lot of hasbeens but still... hes only had 18 fights, give him a break.
Look at ricky hatton and joe calzaghe after 18 fights, they were joke of careers but they still had a fanbase, eh?
And c-drone its the brits who hate amirs hype, the yanks seem interested in him...
Give him time, he's still young and hasn't even fought 20 times yet. He will eventually get in there whith the big dogs and we will see what he is made of then.
Id like to see Khan fight fighters like Murray, Thaxton, Romanov. I think they will be tougher tests than the ones he faced, and will help him prepare better for the big names of the division.
I think alot of people expect more from him because of all the media hype, but id like to see him wait 12-18 months before thinking about the big fights.
He's only young and 18 fights into his career, hes got alot of great attributes, and a few negative ones. Id like to see him fight at a slightly higher level for a year or 2 and work on his defense ect before fighting any world class fighters.
Not long ago I would have said Khan was doing fine, up to and including the St. Clair fight I thought guys like Earl and Limond were the right sort of opposition for him and that Khan had justifiably forced himself to the fringes of the world scene. His failure to step up since then is starting to get annoying, but on the other hand the Gomez fight did expose the fact that Khan is nowhere near the finished product some thought, so you might even say that Warren appears to know what he's doing.
Lots of you Americans seem to take a dislike to Khan based on his 'hype', but you have to remember that Khan won a silver at the olympics so a lot of it comes from that, and that the hype (at least from boxing fans) is really only the kind that says "this guy looks a top prospect", which he is.
We do have to remember, Khan is still very young, five years younger than Gamboa, four years younger than US prospect Andre Dirrell, just a year older than Bernabe Concepcion, and none of these guys are knocking over champions yet either. Brits talk about him a fair bit because he's famous, but he should be treated the same as any other prospect and that is to be matched against the best only when he actually looks good enough, which at the moment he doesn't.
Very valid points.

i dunno hes younger than me. i mean maybe they are bringin him a little slow. but his career i dont think is a joke. im not really a fan but i think hell be alright in a couple years.
They guy has 18 fights. You need to think about it harder.
18 fights my sister could win...frank warren is definetly fucking up his career!!
he need a challange...but i fear he will fall
He is coming along slowly but surely. He can't beat the top 7 people in his divison now. He is learning on the fly. He is coming along alot better than JCC JR.
