True box fans will pay for excellence
Floyd and Pernell weren’t just defensive wizards
they were the best boxers
Floyd has a personality too
personality does more for stardom than having the most violent style
aside from Mike Tyson all the biggest draws weren’t the most violent style for their time
for a modern day example Pure Box Top Soviet Bivol is more popular than KO Puncher Buff Guy Artur
Who gives a UCK about what casuals want they aren’t the paying customers
true box fans pay for fights. Defensive masters use good boxing to get the attention of true box fans
Nice post . Idk where the thumbs up feature is anymore!
Idk but you gotta wonder how much he would make for a Jake Paul fight seeing as how he would entertain the idea in months past ago, near Tyson vs Paul fight date.
Losing HBO was catastrophic for me, the fights lost their special allure, fights with up and coming talent turned in house celebrities came to a stop. Fringe contenders and working class fighters stopped getting shine... Juan lazcano, Carlos Hernandez, the Barrera Morales s, the Stevie Johnston's, Kevin Kelley's, = these fighters were showcased with RESPECT for their craft and what they contributed to boxing. This was the face of boxing, Roy: the best who ever did it in the ring, Jim= the best who ever told it in the game, and max, the grandmaster of sorts/ super duper boxing fan job every fanatic or hardcore would want! Showcase was a close second, when ya couldn't get enough HBO. Sincerely these two channels were like pizza hut and dominos, good quality no matter what the pizza!
Ps you could argue between who was the best commentators, but you have to admit, your favorite ones were GREAT!!!
Nigel Benn vs. Gerald McClellan
Mike Perez vs Magomed Abdusalamov
These are the two that come to mind and I blame those men's corners for letting the violence go on too long.
Reminds me of Margarito vs Pacquiao... What was his corner thinking while that eye was being bludgeoned to a pulp? In tonys defense he would die in the ring if he had to, but ultimately his corner did not protect him, just look at Tony vs cotto 2, gruesome unfortunate haunting damage that lingered from the PAC fight,
I guess you could say Pritchard colon vs that dirty american fighter can't remember his name. Too much rabbit punching put poor Pritchard in a life altering and vegetative state. Not sure what the mindset of the American fighters headspace is nowadays, but I remember hearing Roy Jones Jr cried and wept when he beat Vinny Paz. Also Deontay wilder cried like a faucet about Pritchard Colin's condition or state. Not a beautiful thing happened there, man. I mean it's gotta take something outta the fighter if he kills or critically injured a man, and not to sound horrific neither I am.
Guillermo Jones vs Denis Lebedev
A roided up Jones who was walking through everything Lebedev (a big puncher) hit him with like he was superhuman and put on a frightening beating leaving Lebedevs face disfigured & looking like ET
It went from admiration of Jones chin to being so painful to watch. It should have been stopped about 5 rounds prior.
That was one fight I felt almost sick watching.
That fight is a perfect example of why steroids in boxing should not be normalised.
This guy inactive, aged 41 suddenly looking like George Foreman crossed with Michael Myers. I am convinced you could have put a full clip in him that night and he'd have just still kept coming like nothing had happened.
Some guys do not really respond much from steroids, others turn practically turn superhuman which is why I also don't agree on just letting them all take substances.
Just brutal, I recently watched the highlights. Apparently many were peeved that Lebedev hit Jones when he was down, implying the Jones fight was karma, idk, I wouldn't wish that on any fighter
I picked one out for Mike Tyson or James toney: "24 hours" by Freddie foxxx aka bumpy knuckles. Check it out its the most gangster shut I've ever heard, no joke.
If I was going in I would play the song "hey man nice shot, nice shot man." An old rock song can't remember who it's by. Or else Maino "all the above" or else jmt on the night of the eve of war featuring the gza "meldrick Taylor mix" not the "Julio Cesar Chavez mix."
Also I agree with kostya tszyu entrance music is bunk. Same with Ricky Hatton: "there's only one Ricky Hatton only one hitman Hatton, walking along singing a song, walking in a Hatton wonderland hey!!! Repeat,"
You know I've.dissected this from watching this program of the Gattis on the news. Imo it didn't say anywhere in the article that she killed him. Also don't mind me, she and him also were in a huge fight before the night end that left Arturo with a head injury. Since she was declared innocent I just have one question: how can someone be battered in the ring for our enjoyment plus booze plus sex plus marital problems plus baby mamma drama plus racism plus infighting plus losing fights plus retiring plus drugs plus dizzy hotties plus fast cars plus a propensity for violence plus muscles plus depression plus problems causing regrets plus avoidance from family plus a night of fighting and a pretty traumatic head injury not have his hands full. She may be the reason but there's no way that little girl could pick that guy up. Again what I don't understand is how much blood was on the ground? Was it possible one of the locals hit him while they were arguing or did she hit his head. It really looked like a bad injury. Lord rest his soul as I had an uncle who left the same way in the game. But was it possible that he was so low self esteem, no dignity, self pity, her abuse, missing his child's, and he became defaced like losing his mode. That he just couldn't take it anymore especially from her in public? If so yes she's innocent but that still doesn't mean she's not a horrible human being. My point is some only find peace while fighting. Some can't adjust to the average modern man lifestyle. And it seems like they're relationship was violent too. Maybe the coroner's were right. I'm judging I watched the special like 3 few times. But just like mah uncle, hopefully he is in a better place. Sometimes God chooses mercy over justice. Noone wants to leave the game early especially Gatti he seems like he was and is a fun guy but what was his mental state that night. Warriors bleed too. Like I said I couldn't fathom how her little body could do that? Im just pro with her for everything I've processed. I'm not trying to **** on his family. It's just sad all around. Arturo s family not seeing young Arturo not having money from boxing. Eff a hoe she basically sponged everything plus thunder from them. I feel like a horrible human saying this but that tv show was different than this article. There's 3 sides to every story: his side, her side, and the truth. Again just mah opinion I don't know them personally. I just know what the media force feeds me. Correct me if I'm wrong. Rest in peace arturo. I'm just a nuthugger like every other boxing fan. Biased, like every other fight decision.
I'm going to catch some Flack for this but what if Deontay goes back to beating everybody with one punch knockouts in the hype begins. That would be pulling the wool over our eyelids but just like a sheep he may have the baaaadest chance to miraculously pull it off.
He beat everybody he fought point blank period. He can mythologically match up head to head with every other heavyweight and still have a chance to win... All of them!!! He won a gold medal, defeated a Klitschko, beat Holyfield, Hashim Rahman, and Mike Tyson. He also beat Bowe in the amateurs. Lennox Lewis, LL, the emperor, the lion, the pugilist specialist...nuff said!
Floyd beat many better than Manny. Canelo, Hatton (Floyd finished him) Marquez, Maidana (prime version) Corrales (was never the same again) Cotto (the best version of Cotto the world has ever seen) Judah (when he was awesome) Mcgregor (when he was P4P King in UFC, took his soul) Nash out.
Lmao more like the most sedated version of Cotto. Corrales himself ruined by Floyd? Wasn't he in there with the greats and made great fights with that Brazilian kid, and the great Jose Luis Castillo, they were bangors. Btw Hatton got starched by PAC. What do you mean when he was awesome Judah? Dudes been known for having lapses in his mental stamina. McGregor, that was a nice win - despite the sideshow that it was I agree with that. What's more impressive is that Floyd beat 22 champions active or ex I believe, so I give him props too as a boxing fan. Buy what's harder is to be a champ in 8 weight classes.
8 weight classes is impressive, but the pounds difference between the lower rates is low, and often, they have weaker champions. As Hatton said himself, once he lost, he wasn't the same guy. He fought Pac like a drunk in a nightclub. No longer a great, calculated pressure fighter. Once Floyd showed Hatton that he wasn't the best, Hatton went back home, drank 1000 pints, and decided that he would just cash out against Pac. Nash out.
Sure, Floyd had dibs on Hatton first, but the 2nd mouse gets the cheese. Just kidding man, I'm not knocking Floyd, the early bird gets the worm, he did what he had to do. Hypothetically what if Floyd and Manny never mixed it up, and somehow in Manny's illustrious career he managed to fight and beat Canelo, would that propel him into first place? That would mean el Canelo is the tie that binds, beating him would be the straw that broke the camels back. Putting Manny ahead pound for pound. Yes or no?
The aboriginal fighters are warriors! Look at how they never back down from getting mistreated. There are some greats from Winnipeg: heavyweight contender "Arthur Cooke" light heavyweight Canadian champion "junior moare" these guys were raised in gritty peg city, where most Rez habitants and city dwellers become a statistic due to their colour.
These people need uplifting and funding, to give them something positive to do. Even our aboriginal women, they tend to go missing from time to time. That is why they have "drag in the red" a non profit organization that looks for missing aboriginal women. Also we have the bear clan a bunch of aboriginal soldiers on foot handing out water and snacks to the needy. They are probably the most respected security guards in the mall. Once again they are all volunteers, picking up syringes and stuff.
This 700 team needs your support. I promise you the kids will work hard and save the fancy stuff for the pros! It is better than stuck up north where there's little to no sunlight only DREAMING of things on tv. Like what's a restaurant? What's it like to go in one?... Sadly the population of reserve born people will succomb to be another casualty to suicide before they even make it (into the city) for a better life. Canadians should be proud of this ordeal of releasing oppression thru hard work and boxing!
Please, give with a whole heart, not just a stingy one. Otherwise literally were just repeating the sins of our forefathers, think about it before you respond. Migwech,
That would have been an interesting fight back then, Manny vs Canelo, I'm not sure how it would have gone, as I think Canelo could have imposed his physical; strength more on Manny than Floyd, though maybe Manny would have been too much for him at the time.
I thought Mayweather's performance vs Canelo was sensational, but Canelo is a much better boxer now than he was then, like, he had all the potential then, but it wasn't fulfilled, he wasn't seasoned.
I'll be honest and say that Mayweather and Pac, should have fought many years earlier when they were both absolute prime. They were both still great, and I'll say equally slightly past their best, but it would have been better prime vs prime.
If they never fought, I would have held it against both of them, but in theory, if that happened and Pac beat Canelo, then I'd say you could argue either way on them, as Mayweather would still be unbeaten, and still has a great resume despite what knockers say. SRR only beat a few top guys and people cream over his resume.
I wanted Pac vs Canelo in 2014, but shortly after that, it was clear Canelo was going to go up in weights. Nash out
That's a classy post. I don't disagree at all.
Oh my gosh really???LOL!!!!!!!! WOW
Yeah man he's pretty open about his drug abuse. You should read his book man. One part he said he shut down a party because he was in the middle crying and sobbing hysterically. Just like Jerry springer, people are exploiting his misery.
It's quite annoying, all these bantering s about Manny and Floyd. Heck, draw a line down the middle. It's either a Packtard or a Floyd fan boy. How could the person talk with all the D in his mouth. I bet you if there was a sign up page, would be the first one to want to... imagination here.
Oscar was on the breakfast Show with Charlemagne the god and whoever else. He basically owned that shet. When asked about his woman in drag looking costume he answered that he didn't regret it, that this is America the land of second chances. He wasn't ashamed at all.
Head to Head who is better? PAC or money Mayweather? Mayweather> Pacquiao. Only spitting the facts as he beat him head to head. On an atg list their rankings may differ but seriously who is the better fighter? There is an argument for both cases.
It wasn't even Casimero's camp who started this drama.
Nonito's camp flung damaging accusations and when Casimero's camp clapped back, they suddenly rode their high-horse with "yOu iNsuLteD thE moTheR of mY chiLd".
They are pulling all the stops to smear Casimero when it is clear that they are the ones who keep finding reasons to pull out of the fight.
I really do think Nonito sees himself as superior to fighters born and raised in the Philippines. Him possibly getting his ass kicked by one is too much of a risk for his ego.
Yeah something s not right there... It's a shame. Hopefully these 2 guys will mix it up when cooler heads prevail. If they ever cross paths again is a question better left for saukrates. Seriously c'mon man, you're gonna back out of a fight of this magnitude because of trash talk? Where does that stand in the contract? "Can withdraw from fight if feelings hurt." Jon riel deserved the fight, check his record. I hate to say who's real and who's fake, but Nonito has been reduced to the "Filipino turtle" also Donaire Sr gets love because HE wanted the fight to happen, unlike Rachel's dad or his idiotic comments nor Rachel herself.
Someone (the goose) said you can't play both sides Rachel. You come across as the strong independent trainer/ manager woman talking shytte but at the same time being the damsel in distress needing rescuing from her prince because she was weak. The two don't jive at the same time ? That's called sitting on the fence lol.
For the facts, Jon riel is uneducated, never complained about it. Why was Nonito so smug not to give him a payday? I know I'm cusping for straws at this point but why brag about your (Nonito s) lifestyle just to bring down casimeros reality that he needs the cheque badly. Smh. One is brash and bold. The other is a straight up conservative. The 2 qualities that Filipinos share, humble yet proud .I agree, in the islands they are more humble but once in America it's gone to the head. One nation in God we Trust, god bless our country men.
It did I think
Like those football players that go psycho or suicidal
I read stories after the Tua fight he would always complain about migraines
I think a retired version of Tua could beat a fair amount of hws out there. He may be closer to 300 lbs but he still is stronger than most of them. Maybe him and foreman can go over some game plans. After all they both had enhanced ring intelligence, plus foreman didn't really need to lose the weight, c'mon it's heavy weight no restrictions.
