Mayweather-maidana only did more than 850 ppv buys. Very way off on their target 1.5M just to break even. FLOYDCOTT is a success :celebrate:
Mayweather-Cotto did 1.5 million. No way Maidana brings as much to the table as Miguel Cotto.
Seems like people overestimate Floyd's ppv sales so they can say he bombed tbh.
For some reason I think the Margarito that fought Cotto (I), or Pacquiao stops Maidana. I am a big fan of Maidana too....
The Margarito that fought Pacquiao was shot. Mosley, the ban, and the wraps scandal did him in.
floyd is fairly open to left hands in general(although i'd never quite say they are "easily" landed)
i remember hatton snapping his head back a couple of times with a wide left uppercut/up-jab
also floyd is esspecially vulnerable to the left when you come up from a low stance on him
what's the punch that comes to your mind?
Maidana has a good left feint to the body and switches it upstairs, he crouches down and comes up with that punch.
this, they are pissed because lucas was in a FOTY candidate and danny got schooled by herrera, they are whining and trying to find something to belittle his win tonight, like the guy form the "matthysse has no chin thread"
How much further is this "dey hatin on Lucas" thing gonna go before we find out who wanted Lucas to lose? :lol1:
Those who want him to lose tend to be the sweet science snobs who can't stand when a balls to the wall fighter gets too much recognition and praise.
How can you say that, we still don't know who wanted him to lose to begin with.
It's stupid. We need fun boxers like Lucas for the good of the sport. If it was all Floyds the sport wouldn't survive (before the Floyd contingent attacks: I enjoy watching him, but look at RiGod and see what happens when you don't have a built fan base)
There is only two guys I want to lose: Quillin and Stevenson
http://www.somegif.com/view/Thats-racist-transparent-gif
Yeah, he's a little chinny. I'm not going overboard -- I'm not saying he has a bad chin, but he gets clipped a little more often than you'd like to see. As good as his reflexes and defensive instincts are, he's got to be a little more conscientious on defense.
I've only seen him rocked once, and by a looping shot he didn't see coming.
Once again, What a complete Dick
"But you still got 4 losses"
"I would take Cotto out"
"I'll put you to sleep son"
This is what you call the future?
What's wrong with trash-talking in a competitive sport? Yo realize these guys are friendly when the camera is off most of the time.
Broner and Berto? gtfoh, hype-job does not equal B-grade, Jan Zaveck would beat both, as would Diego Chaves.
How can you call Berto and Broner complete bums and talk up Diego Chaves? He's done absolutely nothing but put up a fight before getting KO'd by Keith Thurman.
compared to other welterweights? yea he kinda is, he is certainly on the bigger side compared to other champs in that division, only other champ thats as big as him is porter, and his abs arent nearly as big as floyds
Floyd who usually rehydrates a pound or two looks bigger than other welterweights? Not sure if serious.
Being ignorant and being overhyped are not synonymous. And Ricky Hatton wasn't this at-all-times, politically correct and polite guy, he could talk some ****. That was part of his appeal.
Just watched all access episode 2 for Mayweather and Maidana and I'm starting to believe in Maidana's power. Sure yea he has a strong over hand right but do yall think he is bringing anything in the ring Floyd won't be able to handle? Floyd has said for this fight he will be fighting in the pocket and I bet he'll be even more aggressive from when he fought Guerrero in the pocket because Maidana seems to pose less of a threat.
You saw him win 35 fights, 31 by KO, and one episode of All Access made you realize he has power?
Margarito would undeniably beat that ass. You really think Maidana brings half the offense and the speed of a prime Cotto?
Apples and oranges. Cotto wanted to box Margarito and keep him at bay. He ended up getting walked through.
Chino wouldn't be moving backwards. It'd be a firefight.
Styles make fights and Maidana has the style that will trouble any veteran fighter. Floyd fought Hatton off a little better, but that was 7 years ago. Floyd is human.
He won a tough, entertaining, close fight. Maidana was never the bum he was made out to be. No more, no less.
Anything to discredit the opponent I guess. I've always said that the best way to fight Floyd is to rough him up, not respect him at all, and take away all of his distance. Last night, a boxer finally did that and almost beat him. Floyd looked just as fast as he normally does, he was in the ring against a guy 20 pounds heavier who was stronger than him who brought the RIGHT STYLE to win. The blueprint is out there now and I fully expect Floyd to dodge a rematch at all costs and probably retire to make sure the rematch isn't demanded by the public.
I agree that some aren't giving Maidana enough credit, but you aren't giving Floyd any respect either.
According to your view of the fight, Floyd should be given credit for taking the fight, weathering the storm, digging down and getting a tough victory. Instead, he's already a coward ducking a rematch?
If Manny stays in there and tries to counter him, Chino hurts him. Even still, I think Chino would just bully Manny physically and make it an ugly, dirty fight.
I believe it's time for Floyd to cut the dead weight. None of his fighters have done anything, nor do they look like they're on the verge of being stars or even elite at this point. They continue to embarrass the brand with failed tests and shaky performances.
The hope was to have them train with and around Floyd to inspire them and raise their profiles but it just isn't working. Obviously they are taking the opportunity for granted and are a little too comfortable, being around Floyd is having the exact opposite effect on them.
and Ishe STILL didn't wanna fight him.....I wonder why?!?....maybe Gabby is just good enough to put doubt in a fighter like Ishe....so I guess those loses don't really mean much at the end of the day....Gabby ain't cuddled up under some big time promotional umbrella....never was....dude been out on the front line learning as he go along....no amateur career....none of that....fresh outta the frying pan and into the fire
I think that's something that gets overlooked with Gabby....he don't have a dad like the great Chavez to piggy back off...nah, he out there in the middle of the war zone without a bullet proof vest and two hand guns asking everybody for a war.....now THAT'S gangster!! :cool2:
You're missing the point philly. Gabby's mouth and reputation are holding him back. Why would Ishe or anyone over there want to do business with him, especially now?
He's turning people off, and he isn't bringing any real money to the table so he gets left out in the cold.
Floyd pays guys based on their previous career high purses. $1.5 seems low for a fight of this magnitude, but I'm sure it's more than Marcos has ever made by a good margin.
Hopefully it does well and he gets upside.
He doesn't have good advisers. He should totally be doing what Cotto is doing. :nonono:
If I recall correctly, his advisor, Koncz, is employed by Top Rank.
What a shame if Manny reups again. Not only is the Floyd fight officially dead forever, but he's short-changing himself.
He's at a point where he doesn't need a promoter and being locked in with one where everything stays in house is actually hurting him, as reflected in his PPV decline. TR simply doesn't have the opponents.
I really don't understand the Schaefer hate, he's run that company the entire time and he's been a consistent presence.
Within the industry, Oscar's been sort of a joke for the last few years. He's the face and namesake of the company, but it has grown beyond him. Sorry to say believe me, but if he's checking into rehab during fight weeks and constantly becoming entangled in embarrassing episodes, he's a liability.
I'm also afraid Arum is using him for leverage to resign Pacquiao. By publicizing their conversations and floating Canelo's name with Manny's, Arum could be trying to sell Manny on GBP fights being doable.
What happened to his program, where he was suppose to be making ammends with people?
Oscar just can't let it go for Floyd, and it's played a big part in his downfall IMO.
This is ridiculous and has nothing to do with Floyd being scared. He just refused to be dumb. Look at this:
https://twitter.com/fighthype/status/462438452592513024
So he doesnt want Maidana to wear those reyes gloves too but one of his fighters is wearing it
They're Everlast gloves.
God.... TMT is so ****.
Glad to see Garcia expose them and say he is having Maidana wear the red approved mx's no matter what.
If Maidana is going to wear the gloves anyway, then what is the issue?
If they were legit concerned about Chino's power, they would've stipulated in the contract that he wear pillows. Same way Oscar chose Floyd's gloves. They feel like Chino tried to pull a fast one and the pics look like they may be right.
How is threatening to cancel the fight going to sell it?
"Oh boy, they are fighting over gloves, and maybe going to cancel it. I surely need to go spend $75 right now"
Not only is it not to sell the fight, but Mayweather shouldn't be given that much credit. Him and Ellerbe have IQ of elementary drop outs. Which Mayweather in fact is.
This controversy equals big story, big story equals press, press equals visibility, visibility broadens buyrate. Every causal sports fan with the Bleacher Report app on their cellphone just got an alert saying the fight is on.
Now I'm not positive this was strictly to sell the fight, but you can't question the intelligence of multimillionaires yet fail to see that angle.
