retire like a coward when faced with a challenge?
boy, id love to have that label!
I guess u wud prefer to go out the way holyfield is....continually losing to his "challenge".
Lewis did the correct thing for HIM by retiring knowing he was declining and met his match.....Roy Jones shud have done the same after the first Tarver fight.....
tyson v berbeck......in fact most tyson's KO's!
Jackson against bomber graham - ouch....
Prince naseem when he KO'd the guy in 40s
David Haye in his last fight
Roy Jones v Vinny Pazienza - that was a brutal finish....
I'll put it this way. If Hopkins wins this time, it's more than even. I'll remember Hopkins as the better fighter.
thats stupid...like saying danny williams will be remembered as better fighter than tyson cos williams beat tyson at end of his career.
Jones haterz shud watch that.....i know of no other boxer ever that cud do wat he does in that video...and it doesnt even have his body shot KO of virgil hill......
Nigel Benn hit Gerald McClellan with about 100,000 knockout punches, and about two or three slight taps to the back of the head. In Britain, it's totally unheard of that a couple of little rabbit punches that we didn't even notice caused brain damage to McClellan. It's total news to us that American's have found this bullshit. However, Nigel Benn, the most hardest puncher we've ever seen on these shores (constantly put guys into hospital with single shots in his first 22 fights before calming down due to losses), telling us before the fight that he'll bring back his punch is thought to be, quite possibly (sarcasm), the reason that McClellan got put into a wheelchair. Gerald is extremely lucky that he didn't die, he had no right to taken so many punches from the hardest hitter there has been, punches that had left others hospitalised after one round or a couple of rounds whereas McClellan just stood and took them for 10 rounds.
I'd suggest you watch Benn's first 22 fights, then you'll realise just how lucky McClellan is that he came out alive!
juy juy??!
the prince was simply amazing...great fighter. Took on all comers and defeated nearly all.
dunno if he can get into that type of shape again thou
Is he gonna go back to Ingle as trainer?
And get knock the fuck out...
Pac is mostly a myth created by his cult following on this board. I wud love for hamed to come back and KO pac......only a fool wud count hamed out of this fight.
If the prince came back wud be huge - the excitement in this country alone wud be worth it.
hatton wins this easily.....will be exciting with KDs.
but why gattis deserves another chance i have no idea....this fight is worthless for the fans - we deserve to see cotto/hatton/mayweather fight each other. How many "tune up" fights do these guys need.
Joe Louis,Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard are the best finishers Ive seen on film.
Right now though,I dont think there are any great finishers in the sport. I cant think of any.
Whoever said Chris Eubank,I agree. Eubank certainly reminded me of the likes of Louis,Robinson and Leonard in 1989 because when he had a man in trouble Eubank had a finishing instinct to end the fight. The question we all asked was, could he step up and do the same at world class level? He then stopped Benn and Watson. If it wasnt for the Watson tragedy,Eubank could of won everything and stopped everybody,I really believe that. But Eubank didnt have the sting in his punch after the Watson tragedy, and in almost every fight for the rest of his career he had his opponent really hurt only to back off and allow them to recover!
yep i was the guy who said eubank....i remember the warton fight where he finished warton off brilliantly...benn was always a one punch KO type guy whereas Eubank the master finisher.
However like i said be4 - the way RJJ finished pazienza i have neva seen anything better.
Another excellent finisher was of course tyson...also agree with person who said corrales....prince naseem was also an awesome finsiher of fights...
good post.....not too sure who best finisher is now to be honest - not all that many names come to mind.
Of the past - trinidad, prime chris eubank (no joke - the accuracy and speed of his finishes were brilliant pre watson II). Also - remember RJJ ending the pazienza fight...brilliant.
tyson, jackson, hamed, benn.....these bad boys had some sic(k) power in their punches. devestating.
of the lot - my favorite is hamed....for some of his fights the ring entrance was longer then the damn fight cos he wud KO them with 1 punch
back to the topic, hatton seems to be finishing off oponents of alte with his relentless style
Hatton isnt a deadly finisher.....he wears fighter out with a relentless pressure and volume of punches...not someone who accurately and clinically puts away an opponent when the guy is hurt
not to mention je lost only a SD to duran, that late KD duran got might have won him that fight, he is a ok fighter, had the upset of the year when he KO heanrs, then ebat him again, overrated? how like no one talks about him,
actually a lot of people talk bout him as a legend...hence i wanted to know why.
yeh...wats the deal with him an roids?
sorry - wat i meant was if he had some discipline in his life how far wud he have gone? from all accounts the fame went to his head and like u say - he was drinking and sleeping around a stupid amount....
This is JuyJuy under a pseudonym, right?
Either way, they're both probably retarded in some way. They're like that kid who hangs around in Million Dollar Baby.
no its not Juy Juy
if u dont like the thread - dont comment....not a hard concept
Who wins, Toney vs. Tarver?
toney....tarver only beat Jones cos RJJ got scared of tarver's power....toney gont chin of granite, he wont give a f**k bout tarver's power.
i think his career will mirror roy jones.
controversial loss in middle of his career....a few losses at the end of his career when he doesnt let go and his skills fade...
personally i think he may lose to hatton in a tight fight on points in manchester (the controversail loss ;)
He's had loads of trainers.. Bill Miller, Eddie Mustafa Muhammad, he's had quite a few.
thanx, any idea who they guy was in the roy jones fight? why he keep changing? cos trainers got fed up of his weight problems??
wow thats some great sparring footage iceman.....where do u rate roy jones in terms of the best super middleweights ever? was there ever a chance u guys cud have faced each other professionally?
