Providing Gatti beats Thomas Damgaard this month, do you want to see him get a crack at Hatton?
He did just get outclassed in a title shot, and there are many guys in line in a very rich 140lb division, and it looks like he's set to get another crack at two titles in fighting Hatton.
Granted Hatton wants the fight to tune up, fight on US soil in an exciting fight to create a bigger US fan base,
but do you like this match up and think it's justified that Gatti fights for those titles?
I'll say yes.
Under the circumstances of the champion looking at it as a tune up, I'd like to see Arturo get one last crack in a fight where he's sure to have someone who will go toe to tow.
Hatton's too young and agressive, and Gatti's been through too many wars to pull it off, but it will sure be a good fight to watch.
yea i think its time for gatti to hang them up... but a fight against hatton would be crazy... i think hatton would finsh him off badly..it would be a slugfest tho lol
i dont want to see gatti fight hatton at all. we all know the outcome please let this man leave the sport healthy. i understand everyone would want to see this fight but lets think of gatti's health for a second.
i love gatti. hatton is a tremendous fighter one that will come forward and not make gatti chase him. i too think gatti is past his prime and i don't know if he has the power to take hatton out. one thing he may have on his side is hatton may not take him too seriously. gatti can box and has decent power. the more i think about it hatton always comes to fight. gatti should stay away.
i love gatti as i have said before, but he'll be massacred against hatton even more so than against floyd.
gatti should stay at 147. 140 holds nothing positive for arturo gatti.
I predict that Mayweather-Hatton will never happen. God I hope I'm wrong though
I'm afraid of this too. Hatton is the guy who will beat Floyd, if given the chance.
For me it all depends on how Gatti is going to show up in his incoming fight. If he goes in there breathing fire and he completely dominates his opponent despite tough opposition then why not give him a shot at Hatton?
We only have our perceptions but it's only Gatti himself who knows if he honestly have a serious chance to defeat Hatton. So what ever Gatti's decission is, I'm with him. :)
best post of the thread so far good k for you
gatti is the first real creation of boxing the dude has fuckin like 7 loses. and there not all to good ppl but they keep shovin million's in his face and ppv's like he's some sorta undisputed king
There's a lot of 'ifs' in there scappy, and Floyd could be the undisputed Welterweight champion before Hatton even fights once in the US.
I think Floyd may look to continue to move up in weight if he beats Judah.
When we are talking about boxing and the matchups we would like to see and the predictions that we make the "if" word is naturally going to come up Bozo...right?
So what you are saying is that if Floyd beats Zab he is then going to campaign at 154? Not disagreeing with you I just think that Floyd is not gung hoe on fighting a guy who is not going to let him breath inside the ropes...
Regardless of Floyds skills Hatton will put Jr. thru hell and Floyd figures why go thru hell? In my opinion Ricky Hatton would give Floyd his toughest fight from 140-160, some may think that is stupid but I think its the truth.
i think this fight would be a foy candidate i know gatti looked bad in his last fight but honestly who does not look bad against pbf?....gatti has a good chance to win this fight because it would be a brawl and that is his type of fight ...he will not have to deal with the pbf type speed...and hatton is not a great boxer...hatton has not been in the wars gatti has been in so i belive he has the advatage in this fight.. his pressure type style will cause gatti problems but it will make for a great fight...hatton also has the stamina to take the fight to gatti for 12rnds.....this fight ends with both guys cut, but gatti getting the worst of it hatton wins by tko due to cuts between rnds. 6-9...
Arturo Gatti is one of the best draws in boxing, and that's not disputable. That is why Gatti fighting these guys makes sense. As far as the Oscar point, that's true but Oscar was big for 147. I think Oscar's frame fit him most naturally at 154, although he was able to be the big man at welterweight. Gatti-Mosley would put fannies in the seats but I think Shane's speed would be the difference. Plus I think Shane really has his eyes on Judah/PBF if he gets by Vargas. Say this about Shane, he challenges himself better than anyone with fights. Actually, Arturo proved that too by fighting Floyd which makes them two of my favorites
hatton wins this easily.....will be exciting with KDs.
but why gattis deserves another chance i have no idea....this fight is worthless for the fans - we deserve to see cotto/hatton/mayweather fight each other. How many "tune up" fights do these guys need.
I am of the same opinion but I'll tell you what if Ricky signs with Oscar and comes across the pond Floyd is eiither going to have to face Ricky or he will lose a lot of credibility. (I really believe Hatton wants this fight more then Floyd-I have nothing to base that off of-just a feeling I get)
Hatton appears dead set on GREATNESS...he could sit over in Manchester and make millions and millions fighting so so opposition (my boy Calzaghe) but again it appears he is set on greatness...Hatton may be soemthing special and he is willing to leave home to prove it!

Well I think Gatti is much better off at welterweight because he's struggling too much to make 140 and he has 147 power anyways.
Gatti is overmatched at 147. (at 140 too at this point :D ) remember his performance against Oscar?
I like Gatti and hope he stays healthy.
Well I don't think Ricky wants to move up to fight at 147 if its anyone besides Mayweather and I think Gatti is much better off at welterweight because he's struggling too much to make 140 and he has 147 power anyways. I think he will appear slightly faster at 147 too. IF Gatti has a superfight in him left I'd rather see it against Cotto than Hatton. Cotto is actually better than Hatton (in my opinion anyways) but with Cotto's recent fights in which he's been stunned or dropped, Gatti would certainly have a puncher's chance of knocking Cotto out because Gatti has that kind of power. I'd rather see Arturo get his feet wet with 2-3 fights at welterweight before he fights a superfight to cap off his career and would rather see it against Cotto than Hatton but Hatton would be a more realistic win for Hatton than Mayweather was, not to say Hatton isn't extremely good
Yeah, I thought Gatti was moving up to 147, which is where he belongs, IMO. So from that standpoint, I hope this fight doesn't happen. What about Gatti/Mosley at 147?

i agree with that a Gatti-Cotto fight makes more sense as people are now calling Cotto the new Gatti and i have a feeling Cotto will move up to 147 soon

I think Gatti has a better chance to beat Hatton than most fighters at 140 and 135 do. Gatti can win brawls, and that is exactly what this will be. I think Hatton will beat him up and stop him on cuts, but Gatti has a good chance to win on the grounds that both guys cut so easily! This will be a blood bath and an exciting fight, and maybe it's wrong, but I want to see it. Besides, Gatti deserves another big payday and Hatton deserves a grand entrance into the United States. This fight will make him a star in the states if he wins.
