May outboxed JMM easy, but I will say this though, May had every single physical advantage you could think of.
- weight
- natural size
- height
- arm length (which is instrumental when two counter punchers face off)
- handspeed
- mobility
The last two factors have alot to do with skill as well but I put them in anyway because Marquez was heavily disadvantaged in those areas because he was fighting three weightclasses above his natural weight.
JMM was destined to lose that fight handily from the beginning. The fact that Mayweather would not risk himself to finish JMM off is a credit to JMM's heart and counterpunching threat. If this was a fight at 130 I'd still pick May, but it would be ALOT more competitive.
Wladimir has earned his stripes and a spot in the HOF. He reminds me of Holmes in the respect that they're both great fighters who were unlucky (or lucky depending on the way you look at it) to have peaked in a lackluster heavyweight era.
Apparently only British fighters throw rabbit punches?
Apparently there is no rule in boxing that constitutes if a fighters gets knocked OUT of the ring he gets a 20 count instead of a 10 count?
Apparently the crowd should have known beforehand that McClellan would end up paralyzed later after the fight?
Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the G-man and I even shed a tear when I saw him in the condition that he's in now, but the only argument of yours that holds any water is the rabbit punching, and I agree that refs all over the globe should pay more attention to penalising rabbit punches. But let's not for a moment pretend that Nigel Benn is the only boxer that throws rabbit punches.
Vargas is far from great. He's a good fighter who's more known for the competitive and entertaining fights he had with the 147/154 elite and lost, than the fights he won.
Joval trains at my gym when he doesn't have a fight coming up and I got to spar with him once too. :)
Guy's got great boxing fundementals and decent speed for a 39-year old. I'll be rooting for Ray all the way.
How in the hell can you score round 1 for Hatton? Try watching with the sound off, without thousands of drunken Brits yelling and celebrating after everytime Hatton decides to move his arms. Yeah, Hatton landed a nice left hook in the beginning of the round and caught Mayweather off balance with a jab later on, but other than that Floyd was potshotting the shit out of Ricky throughout the first round.
