Looking forward to this fight. Big crossroads fight for both of these guys.
Jr. should get props for taking such a tough fight after his KO loss. He's younger and more powerful, but far less experienced. Joval is getting up there in age but has fought at a significantly higher level than Jr.
Who's taking it?
I see this fight playing out like Mcgirt's last fight with De Leon. McGirt having an early lead, then Joval figures him out to score a come from behind stopagge.
Joval doesn't have much power, and I see this fight going the distance no matter who wins.

Joval trains at my gym when he doesn't have a fight coming up and I got to spar with him once too. :)
Guy's got great boxing fundementals and decent speed for a 39-year old. I'll be rooting for Ray all the way.
Definitely a good fight Im looking forward, too. I have no idea how it will turn out, but it should be competitive and worth watching. I really love the ESPN fight nights right now.
I wasn't dissing him, in fact I commend him for taking such large step up. I was just thinking out loud.
I apologize. It sounded like a diss to me. I just think it's great to see a "contender" step up...Especially after being KO'd. The odds on this fight are pretty much dead even on who's going to win.
I wonder if Jr. would be taking this fight if he still had an undefeated record to protect? Probably not.
Damned if you do, damned if you don't. This is a pretty retarded post. 99% of fighters out there would come back and fight a couple bums after being KO'd before taking such a tough fight - regardless of the record.
He wasn't strongly favored in the De Leon fight either and he had an undefeated record to "protect" then, didn't he?

It's an interesting matchup because McGirt is much younger and moving down in weight, but you can't compare his competition to Joval's. Not even close. Good Friday night fights this week.
