Let's be real, if you are the face of the sport and the biggest attraction you also have a ton of haters. A ton of people want Canelo to lose, it is the same with all the biggest fighters in the sport, you polarize, you have huge amounts of fans as well as haters. The next supposed savior that will stop the iron chinned number one star in the sport, Canelo is supposedly, as Mike Tyson named him and many enraged casual fans now know him "The Mexican Monster" David Benavidez. I have never been a huge Canelo fan, I think (as most fans did, as you can see in my signature) he lost the 2 first fights vs GGG, arguably he is 1-1-1, lost first fight clearly, 2nd could be a draw and third he won. When GGG was still in his prime, Canelo didnt wanna deal with GGG, Canelo even dropped his precious WBC belt to avoid GGG for 2 more years until GGG was past 35 years and slowing down. Anyway, Canelo grew on me in the past couple years, you cannot deny his fantastic resume, moving up in weight several times and taking huge risks, becoming champion in several divisions, even becoming undisputed at 168, becoming pro at age 14 and already having fought 65 times, facing Mosley, Lara, Floyd, Trout, Cotto, Kovalev, Jacobs, GGG x3, Callum Smith, Ryder, Plant, Munguia, Saunders and Bivol among other highly ranked fighters. Canelo has earned his stripes and he can do whatever the fu.. he wants for the rest of his career, it is what Floyd did when he faced Berto and eventually Conor McGregor and he was also critisized because he avoided guys like Margarito and Paul Williams. Benavidez on the other hand has a very shallow resume with quite a few stumbling blocks, he never moved up in weight even though he could easily fit into 175 and 200lb, he lost his belt twice, once because he was busted for cocaine and the 2nd time because he was not making weight. Had he kept his belt and remained disciplined instead, Canelo would have been forced to face him to become undisputed at 168. Now that the WBC finally gave in and wanted to install him as the mandatory for Canelo, he decided to move up in weight to fight Gvozdyk, a fighter who already retired years ago after getting stopped by Beterbiev and then decided to come back and fight again. After Canelo stopped then undefeated Caleb Plant and Plant signed to face Benavidez, most people thought Plant would get trashed by Benavidez in a couple rounds, but David was not able to stop him, thats when most people realized he is not that Monster some casual fans make him out to be. Other than Plant which good fighters did he face? Andrade, who is only really known for ducking Janibek and going life and death vs Martirosyan, oh and I almost forgot, also for people leaving the arena when he fights because he is that boring to watch. If you look at Benavidez, who does he remind you of? One of many weight bullies in his division, looking absolutely huge vs most of his opponents (poor Lemieux looked like a little kid next to him), being able to make the weight and then having 36 hours to rehydrate and become absolutely massive, similar to Jarrett Hurd at 154, Errol Spence at 147, as Zurdo Ramirez and Callum Smith at 168. Now Benavidez decided to fight at 175 vs Gvozdyk, a fighter that was already retired and came back, but for the first time David is facing a guy that is similar in size and reach. I am not even saying that Gvozdyk beats Benavidez, with all that Canelo hype Gvozdyk will have a very rough time on the scorecards and with the ref, but i am confident that Gvozdyk will be able to rough up Benavidez, win quite a few rounds and might be able to crash that hypetrain and make people realize that David is not that monster that he is being advertised once he faces a guy that he doesnt totally outsize. Many Canelo haters and a bunch of casual fans might get a reality check come June 15th when the Mexican Monster will be known as the Mediocre Mexican, or the Mexican Meatshield. Anyway, after all that talk, I am still quite sure that Canelo will face David Benavidez not later than 2025, if David manages to keeps the demand for the fight up and is able to make 168, possibly in Saudi Arabia. My prediction is this September we will see Canelo face either the bum Berlanga or, outside chance the very dangerous Christian Mbilli, who has a fight later this month, and if his excellency manages and Canelo is on board, we might see Canelo again in December or early next year, possibly facing Crawford or Benavidez, depending how the next couple fights unfold.

Wilder/Fury, Fulton/Inoue, Plant/Canelo, Porter/Crawford and now Spence vs Crawford. There is a reason these PBC chumps are just fighting little inhouse tournaments and avoid all the other top fighters from other promoters out there, they would get exposed one by one. Harrison, Jermall Charlo, Jarret Hurd, Julian Williams, Brian Castano, Lara, Trout, Caleb Plant all these dudes are on a similar level. Put them in with a real opponent, the hype bubble is popped. Soon Spence will move up to 154 since even Haymon knows he cant beat Crawford and there Spence can fight all these second tier fighters. Then you have other dudes, either protected, totally inactive, already exposed or just flat out being used to build other fighters up, Tank Davis, Keith Thurman, Leo Santa Cruz, Marcus Browne, Adrien Broner, Robert Easter, the Dirrel sisters, Adam Kownacki, Luis Ortiz, Luis Nery, Gary Russel and the list goes on and on. It happened to Deontay Wilder once he stepped out of the PBC protection plan, it happened to Broner who was overhyped like crazy, it will happen to the rest, let Tank fight a real opponent, let Spence take the Crawford fight. Spence is a good fighter, but not great as PBC fans tell you. If his handlers would be confident that he beats Crawford that fight would have happened already and everyone knows that. PBC has a huge stable of overhyped and protected fighters, only very few have potential and most of them will not even get a chance or be sidestepped for the worse "A Sides" Benavidez, he just needs to avoid the drugs, but I dont see him getting any big fights anytime soon. Sebastian Fundora, but they might not even give him a chance because they want the belts on other hyped up fighters Regis Prograis, lost to Taylor, but still good fighter, dont see him getting any meaningful fights on PBC. Jermell Charlo, one of the better PBC fighters, lost to Harrison once and is already talking about avoiding upcoming guys like Tsyu.

You just have to listen to Floyd. They cherrypick the opponents where he looks good against. Predictable, smaller latino fighters. Davis last 5 opponents 1.) Jesus Cuellar, argentinian featherweight 2.) Hugo Ruiz, undersized Mexican cabdriver 3.) Ricardo Nunez, journeyman from Panama 4.) Yuriorkis Gamboa, 40 year old cuban who was shot 6 years ago 5.) Leo Santa Cruz, predictable mexican featherweight You see a pattern here? All of them predictable undersized Latino fighters. Who is next? Who fits in the same category? Abner Mares might get a call from Floyd and come out of retirement, maybe Francisco Vargas or 40 year old Jhonny Gonzales. If you think Davis is going to fight somebody of the caliber of Teofimo Lopez, Lomachenko, Miguel Berchelt or Devin Haney anytime soon, keep dreaming.

Lopez said it in the post fight interview very well, there is only extremely few real fighters out there who dare to be great and so many others only talk and fight nobody. Loma had the balls to face the best again and again and again. Going for undisputed in his third division where he had to face much bigger opponents, and all of that in his 16th pro fight. Lopez in just as many fights, at the age of 23 risked it all and became undisputed champion, where he was a big underdog. PBC fighters like Spence, Tank Davis or Caleb Plant do not even dare to fight the best in their first division. Tank Davis picks and chooses the weakest links and keeps fighting undersized or shot fighters, Spence will never face Crawford, the only meaningful fight at 147. Caleb Plant could have unified with Benavidez but they rather both keep their 0 and protect that belt. Jermall Charlo is running from Andrade and even turned down Canelo so he can keep his belt and make good money vs inhouse opponents. Wilder turned down a huge offer to face AJ just to face Tyson Fury because they thought he was done after the 2 years layoff, cocaine and losing 100lb, and of course he got smashed. I dont get it how some of this forums bottomfeeders can trash the extremely rare risktakers like Loma who puts everything on the line again and again and eventually took a loss, but the same scum cheers for the protected cowards who never dare to be great. What happened last weekend is why basically all the PBC fighters fight strictly inhouse and are not allowed to face the top fighters from other stables. They would get exposed just as Wilder did. Deontay Wilder Wilder's entire career was protected by feeding him selected, lackluster, inhouse opponents and the only reason he faced Fury because he was perceived as easy prey after his long layoff and losing 150lb. Wilder's only decent victory is the washed up, overrated Luis Ortiz, who outboxed him but was too old and slow to avoid the right hand. Luis Ortiz Deontay Wilder fought inhouse opponents for his entire career, only when Ortiz was signed to the PBC and they realized his age, his medical condition and how beatable he was, they tried to sell us Ortiz as the bogeyman of the divison. Wilder's only decent victory is Luis Ortiz, an old washed up fighter who never beat anybody, who, even as an amateur was exposed by his own countryman, Odlanier Solis, who beat him 5 times. When AJ sent a huge offer to Ortiz and it was declined it was clear that the PBC knows the old man would get smashed. Jermall Charlo Charlo got gifted a belt and now protects it since Haymon and Charlos handlers know, he would get exposed by the other top middleweights, he arguably already lost to Korobov. Gervonta Davis Tank Davis had several opportunities to fight other champions, but his promoter rather feeds him undersized inhouse opponents like Leo Santa Cruz and shot Gamboa. Davis does not live the life of a real fighter and he would end up like Broner if they matched him vs quality opponents like Lomachenko, Haney, Lopez or Berchelt. Danny Garcia Since Danny Garcia joined the PBC and fights at 147 lb he has not beaten any top opponents, he pretty much got exposed by Mauricio Herrera and its quite obvious that he would get dominated by Terrence Crawford, so Haymon will never make that fight happen. Caleb Plant This guy already exposed himself by admitting that he would not take a Canelo fight, because 11 weeks would not be enough time to prepare, even though he barely took any punches in his fight against the german punching bag. Plant has beaten nobody and acts like he is a superstar, arrogant and unlikable. He will, just as the other PBC fighters, face inhouse opponents only. Who will they feed him? PBC could make Plant vs Benavidez next, but instead it is rumored that Benavidez will face another inhouse bum, Lionell Thompson. Awful. Errol Spence Errol Spence might be a really good welterweight, but he went life and death vs Shawn Porter, who is good, but already got soundly beaten by a healthy Kell Brook years ago. Terence Crawford would dismantle Spence and PBC/Haymon know that. Errol Spence is still the best fighter the PBC have, but they will keep Errol inhouse as long as possible and not make the fight the fans want to see vs Crawford. Eventually both Spence and Danny Garcia will rather move up to 154 and fight more inhouse opponents instead of fighting Crawford. These are basically all the top PBC fighters out there, they do not have a single fighter, where Haymon is confident, that he could beat the best fighter outside of their own stable, so we will see more and more ducking and inhouse fights.

This should easily be the best fight of the night. Akhmadaliev from Uzbekistan has only 7 pro fights, but he is very strong and talented, is challenging the unified champion Daniel Roman for his IBF and WBA belts at Superbantamweight.

The Charlo brothers got quite a bit cocky and arrogant in the last 2 years, specially Jermell. They kept talking about their own Lionsonly promotion and how they were capable to "run" everything in boxing. Basically everyone thought Charlo would get the decision vs Harrison even though it was a close fight, but Charlo threw and landed more, was the aggressor and most importantly was the undefeated champion and the "bigger"/more popular fighter. Suddenly the cards were read and Jermell lost by unanimous decision. That was a huge wakup call and powermove by Al Haymon to remind the Charlos who the boss is and to humble them. It worked very well. You could ask, why didnt Jermall lose to Korobov then? That fight was even closer and Jermall deserved to lose that fight. The Jermall fight was the last on the card and the message was already received with Jermells loss. Secondly Jermall is more important to Haymon, because he competes at 160+ where he could possibly land huge fights vs Canelo, GGG etc, so a loss for Jermell isn't as detrimental, he fights in a division thats controlled by Haymon. Also it shouldnt be too unclear why Haymon would prefer Harrison and not Korobov as the beneficiary. So what does that mean for tonights fight? Both Charlos are, you could say, humbled. The message was received and they are still bigger names and more marketable than Harrison. If the rematch tonight goes pretty similar to how the first fight went, Jermell Charlo will get the decision.

Regular weigh in max 175lb Morning weigh in 185lb Fight night weigh in 190lb Dont forget that the fight is extremely late because it starts after UFC fight card, it starts around midnight, meaning Kovalev from the early morning can only gain 5lb the whole day, otherwise he will have to pay millions. Golden Boy tried to keep it secret, and even had Team Kovalev to sign a NDA (None Disclosure Agreement), so they were not allowed to talk about any clauses of the fight, there might actually be more clauses which have not come out, or will never leak. Canelo himself, when fighting at 154/155 usually rehydrated to 170-174 on fight night, which means he gained between 15-20lb. Now a taller, bigger man isnt allowed to rehydrate as he usually does to give Canelo an advantage. What other clauses are in the contract that the public will never find out about?

Haymon is smart, he knows that Crawford would embarrass the whole PBC welterweight stable, thats why these fights will never happen. If Haymon was confident in Errol Spence and Spence was "the Truth", then Haymon would not hesitate and make the fight happen. But Haymon knows boxing as us boxing fans do. Spence would get smoked by Terence Crawford, Porter would probably give him a tougher fight because he is so awkward.

You can watch highlights of the fight here, where Gamboa got destroyed Gamboa turns 38 in December, is basically shot to pieces and has no puch resistance left, has become terribly slow and none reactive and is getting dropped multiple times and quitting in the corner vs a guy with 37% ko ratio. Yarde looks like a comic figure but he doesnt even have sparring partners and is trained by a total idiot. People overhyped Eubank just as Yarde. Eubank looked like garbage vs the older Groves. Yarde might just look like trash too if he cant clip Kovalev. My prediction is that Kovalev exposes and schools Yarde and Yarde will be back fighting handpicked part time boxers.

Yup, thats the truth. Canelo himself said in multiple interviews, that he wants to be retied before the age of 35 because at that age fighters deteriorate and arent the same anymore. Every single elite fighter Canelo faced was over 35 years old. When did Canelo finally man up and face GGG? When GGG was over 35. When did Canelo face his first real name? Baldomir who was 39 and then Shane Mosley, who was over 40. Which other elite fighters did Canelo face? Floyd and Cotto, both over 35 years. Canelo wants to face more old washed up fighters, not young, fresh fighters in their prime. If Yarde knocks out Kovalev, Canelo will not want anything to do with Yarde who is only a year younger than Canelo. Same with Dimitry Bivol, same with Callum Smith or Billy Joe Saunders, all of them are still too young and in their prime for Canelo. Canelo only faces washed up top tier fighters. Thats a fact.
