It must have been a tear in the tendon, with a completely ruptured one he wouldn't be able to walk, big heart regardless and it adds more shyt to Tank's performance.

I find that very hard to believe True. David Haye had a torn Achilles tendon and Gamboa was moving a thousand times better than Haye. I guess it could be true but if you pay a doctor enough, they'll say anything.

i saw the fight. I'm not saying he didn't have an injury, but fighting on an achilles for 10 rounds? FOH!!! hahaha. He was moving. I had a calf strain this year in March that went all the way down to my achilles. It hurt and I was still able to run, but it wasn't a ruptured achilles. I don't think you understand how bad of an injury that is. It's worse than an ACL tear. I don’t understand. I said I don’t know anything about them. Several posters have commented about them. Not everyone agrees with you. Maybe it wasn’t what they say it was. But Yuri definitely wasn’t bouncing around for the remainder of the fight. He was locking the knee of the affected leg, and he wouldn’t plant his feet to throw a punch. Clearly he was avoiding putting undue pressure on his right foot.

Did you watch the fight? Gamboa immediately looked down at his right foot as he got up from a second round knockdown. He walked around very strangely for the rest of the bout. He was basically stationary, moving only his head and upper body for defense. Yuri threw nothing but arm punches. He wasn’t planting his feet. I don’t know anything about Achilles’ tendon injuries, but Gamboa clearly suffered a very limiting injury. i saw the fight. It was ridiculous. Gamboa was throwing little slaps. Even before the injury, you could see he had nothing. After the injury, Gamboa was in survival mode for the rest of the fight. I thought Davis would finish him at any moment after the first KD. It was painful to watch. That explains a lot... The patty punching, the slowness... Having no leverage from his right foot he couldn't put any weight on his punches... I was surprised but thought he was even more "shot" than I thought he was... And that makes Tank performance look even worse ... Yuri is a shell of the fighter he used to be — no power, no athleticism, relatively slow. And then he got injured! Lol Not to be able to annihilate such a version of Gamboa speaks volumes.

It shocked Tank, and it shocked me too. Lol But Yuri was throwing nothing but weak arm punches. This is the same guy who was such a ferocious puncher in his day. Yeah Gamboa probably would’ve been fine to finish it off, especially since David wasn’t his best last night. But at that point in the fight, it was pointless to let it continue. Gamboa only winning 1 round up until that point. I had no problem with the stoppage and I don’t think Gamboa cared too much either. Yeah, that’s why the ref stopped it.
