I actually think Judah has a great shot against Margarito. Like it was said, Margarito isn't exactly the greatest defender. Margarito will definately apply tons of pressure and he may very well catch Judah at some point but I wouldn't be surprised if Judah came away with a win. I'm sure Margarito is not looking past Cintron though, as he shouldn't. Either of them may get KTFO.
I like Tito, but I like when fighters are exposed. In this case, it would be more damaging to him to be totally outboxed for 12 rounds.
Everybody will view him as one dimensional. If he were kayoed, Tito fans would claim it's a fluke. Getting outboxed for 12 rounds is no fluke. It's humiliating.
Leonard would not lose by ko. In fact I think he pulls out a decision because like the above posts said, the Hitman was one of the most lethal punchers pound for pound of any generation and if Leonard can escape that and also beat Hagler who waged one of the most action packed wars with Hearns, he will definately survive Pryor and outbox him.
All that extra weight might actually be good against ruiz. Either way, even with all that hugging and wrestle fest, Toney will get pissed that Ruiz is trying to feel him up and see every punch coming and ko Ruiz.
btw. I like ur avatar Bozo no no. thats hillarious. Nady cracks me upwith his comments during a fight. :D
Morales - Pacquaio - Barerra - Gatti - Tito
Actually I think matchups make whether or not the fights are good or not. To me as long as the top guys fight each other, its exciting. Juan Manuel Marquez isn't that crowd pleasing.. but if he fights any of the top guys like Barerra - Pac - Morales, then I'll be watching.. I know I wont be dissapointed.
If i had to pick one guy, it would be Gatti.
Unfortunately I didn't see the fight yet. I have seen Hatton fight quite a bit. I think this victory cheap or not is a bit overrated. After all Tito came back much like Tszyu, had a sensational victory then got beaten badly by Winky. It didn't surprise me that Tszyu lost. What did surprise me is how everyone is saying he lost. Either way, Mayweather really can pick apart guys just based on his ring smarts, and if he tries to be slick, he wins. If he tries to make the fight exciting by standing and trading, then Hatton has a shot. Hatton will try to punish Floyd to the body. Mayweather will have a counterpunching fest if he uses his speed.
Vitaly is a bit overrated IMO. He isn't exactly a pugilistic genious. In fact, he is a bit robotic. Toney is shorter than Vitaly but his boxing ability is light years better than Vitaly. If Toney can manuever inside, he will give Vitaly tons of problems. Toney will see Vitaly's robotic pounches coming.
The only thing Vitaly has going is his height.
Ruiz actually was in an awesome fight.. the one where he got KTFO by David Tua. Haha.. and I actually enjoyed watching him get outboxed by Jones. Hopefully Toney will make this one entertaining..
I honestly dont think even in close quarters that Ruiz can beat Toney. Even with all the wrestling tactics, Toney will still outmaneuver him and counter Ruiz badly. How is Ruiz going to be able to hurt Toney? Even tho Toney fought at middlewieght much of his career, he has one of the most durable chins ever. He has certainly faced better opposition than Ruiz.
Johnson outworks Tarver to a close decision again. Tarver looked hurt at times during the fight and Johnson isn't necessarily a power puncher but he will totally frustrate Tarver with his work rate again.
If they fight, Morales will be Kayoed for the first time. He has never been Koed but he has been hurt. And at times looked extrememly vulnerable. Corrales might be his toughest opponent ever and I to those who can't see Morales get stopped, I just can't picture Morales not getting Kayoed being that Morales loves to stand toe to toe.
Wow... this should be an awesome fight. Two guys who have speed and who are slick. Tough fight to call. I'm glad Toney and Bird are willing to put their belts on the line unlike other title holders. This will make the heavyweight division a lil more interesting than it has in the past. Bird talks some smack too. Lets now forget though, he was all quiet when he and Toney were on the set together.. alteast after the Booker fight.
The question is kinda general. If you mean physically demanding, then football and hockey have to be near the top. I mean guys who play those sports are barely able to walk by the time theyre 50. If you mean permant brain damage, look at ALI. Boxing is grueling no doubt.. No tour de france athlete has to worry about ending up in the emergency room after trying not to get killed in the ring. some guys are always in the emergency room seeing how bad their concussions are after a fight.
You're right. Ever since ESPN entered the PPV market boxing has been getting a lot more coverage, both on TV and radio. Here in the ATL we've actually got a couple of radio hosts that take calls on the most recent fights. I'm talkin PBF/Gatti, not that Tyson shit. If it ain't happenin' where you are, call your local ESPN talk station and tell 'em you want to talk boxing.
I agree to a certain extent. Usually if you watch Sportscenter, PTI or some other show, they only focus on the negative. What in the world was Greg Anthony, Scoop Jackson and Steven A. Smith doing blasting boxing and Mike Tyson today for in the middle of talking about the NBA draft? They have no business talking about shit they don't know and it makes absolutely no sense!
This sort of thing happens all the time. Like it was said above, the Tyson - McBride got huge press on ESPN but Gatti - Mayweather got barely any mention. I can't even find out who won between Hatton - Tszyu or Corrales - Castillo or even Hopkins - De La Hoya. It's sad but I doubt most of the people on Sportcenter even know who Bernard Hopkins is. They probably still think De La Hoya is still Welterweight champ!
Atleast Fox Sports is trying to televise more fights. Sure the quality of the telecast isn't up to par with Friday Night Fights, HBO or SHOWTIME, but I admire their effort in trying to promote the sport the right way.
Gatti can take a punch and has tons of heart but he has been hurt in virtually every fight. Mayweather was simply too fast and skilled. Gatti knew his defense wasn't good enough to evade Mayweather. At the same time, he just couldn't win the exchanges with his slower hands and Mayweather was making him pay. Both his eyes were closing rapidly and soon he wouldn't be able to see anything coming.
As much as I love Gatti, he'd be destroyed in a worse fashion than Mayweather. Mayweather totally outclassed him with his talent. Mayorga will totally kill Gatti inside of 3 rounds based on the fact that he is the bigger man fighting a blown up fighter. Gatti just doesn't have the punching power to get Mayorga's respect. Even if Gatti somehow puts together the best boxing night of his life, Mayorga will walk thru all that and land a bomb eventually. Realistically, Gatti isn't skilled enough or punch hard enough to keep Mayorga at bay and make him pay for his wreckless haymakers. Besides, Mayorga took Tito's punches. Do you really think he is afraid of Gatti? If Gatti lands his hardest shot on Mayorga, he might just break his hand again.
I totally hate Mayorga's undisciplined, reckless fighting style but he is too strong for Gatti.
I wanted Vernon to win the 2nd fight with his boxing, but it's tough for orthodox fighters to win against a guy like Mayorga unless you can crack.
