Brilliant!
Get the fuck outa here lads. hahaha he peek a booed my ass. He stood there and waved your man in, and the proceeded to catch him clean the whole fight. In 12 rounds I remember about one or two occasions when Naz (who was supposed to be the supreme boxer) caught Barrera!
Lets not re write what happened to your hero guys. He was supposed to beat a supposedly washed up, one dimensional Marco Antonio Barrera in the weight class were he was king. What happened...........he got a fucking boxing lesson from a man who was considered a one dimensional slugger!
PRINZE NASEEM- fought fucking stiffs until he got in with Kevin Kelley. Great fight, he got flattened a few times before he Ko'd Kelley. Then he goes on to the Great Augie Sanchez and once again gets put down while looking suspect the whole fight. He comes through again. Then he steps up to world class....BARELY LANDS A TELLING PUNCH ON BARRERA!!!!
PRINZE NAZ= ONE OF THE BIGGEST FUCKING MYTHS TO EVER APPEAR IN BOXING! RIP NAZ, YOU GOT FOUND OUT AGAINST BARRERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well stated. You hit the nail on the head.
I loved every moment of this fight. It's the only match where I lost my composure and started jumping up and down screaming and yelling at the TV. I'll never forget when Barrera put the Naz in the corner, face first like Naz was his bitch. One of my favorite fights ever!
I hear Naz still serving a prison sentence for running someone over while drunk or on drugs. That person is now permanently disabled, wheelchair for life.
Peace!
I can't believe I missed that fight
I'm a Hatton fan who is accustomed to some boxing fans hating on him and am very glad to run into a post giving him the credit he richly deserves. I didn't see the fight :(. It wasn't aired here or if it was I didn't get it on cable. I hope they air it here soon. I'd love to see Hatton get a solid knockout. From what I'm reading it was a good fight.
Hatton isn't as famous as he should be in the U.S.A. but I believe that he will gain all the notoriety he deserves when he gets a few more fights here. He will be a big draw and a money maker for the sport. I'm very glad to see someone with decency and class making headlines for the sport in a positive fashion.
Peace.
Cotto in trouble in the 5th
Still on his feet but getting ripped. Torres is landing lots of combos, Cotto is still up but fucked up bad. Again. More shots. Torres is hurting Cotto. Cotto still can't hang on but is still up on his feet. Torres is still coming forward with combos, hooks and power punches, no jabs just throwing down. Cotto gets caught again. Torr4es is killing Cotto in this round.
Cotto is bleeding from his mouth. Still fighting now. Seems to have his wits back at the end of the round. Very exciting round.
I agree.
Id have to say Richard Steele for the obvious reasons, that guy always seemed to be in the pocket of Don King.
ALso I dont like Earl Morton either. The reason being I know hes ref'd many Gatti fights before but the officating during the Mayweather fight was horrible, when Mayweather holding and hitting Gatti Morton called for a break and looked like he was going to walk in and seperate it, instead he doesnt and Mayweather gets a free shot on Gatti knocking him down.
Also go back to Gatti Ward II in the 2nd rd I believe Morton does the same thing, Ward is hold and hitting Gatti, Morton says break and acts like he is goin to step in but doesnt and Ward smacks Gatti w/ 3 or 4 consecutive punches, Gatti turns turn Morton and shurgs his shoulders as if sayin "what the fuck?". As a Gatti fan maybe I am biased but the facts r there, look at them and decide.I feel the same way. Although I'm a Gotti fan I feel that our boy was outmatched before stepping in the ring. That was a tough punch for Gotti to recover from and I think that one punch did the most damage to him and caused the fight to end earlier than it would have. I still hold that against Morton. He demonstrated his lack of professionalism by adversely affecting the fight and I don't believe he took responsibility for his actions. Perhaps in his next bout Morton will let one fighter brutally punch his opponent in the balls well after the round ends and then count his opponent out. Why not?
I tell ya, I wouldn't want to see him ref'n a fight i'm betting on. Oh, Richard Steel is also a very iffy ref. When he was in the locker rooms going over the rules with each boxer he could barely speak coherently. He seemed punch drunk as hell, if ya ask me. He also had a freudian slip somewhere before the fight. Something about "punishing" if i remember correctly. Anyone else catch that?
Body shot that dropped Torres was a bit low
Wasn't called low but was a bit. Torres went down after a delayed reaction to the punch.
5th round:
Torres backing up..Cotto has him on the ropes, delivering some combos. More body shots from Cotto.
Cotto seems to be taking it from Torres but now Torres is coming back, Huge Right UPpercut Rocks Cotto WOW
All my points on Hatton
Hatton would beat Cotto in a lopsided fight. Cotto can't be dismissed but he'll cover up too much against Hatton. Hatton will be relentlessly agressive and will hamper Cotto's chances of dominating by cancelling his offense with his own agressiveness. Even if it goes the distance Cotto won't look good against Hatton since he'll mainly be fighting defensively. If Hatton lands a lot I think Cotto will be knocked out or TKO'd after 3 knock downs. I'd be surprised to see it go the distance. I'd love to see that fight, in the UK or Bumfuk Mongolia, who cares as long as it happens. All my points on Hatton for that fight.
Cotto gave a great fight last night. What a ton of action from both guys. Torres should walk tall after fighting hard regardless of the loss. He gave as good as he took and the best man, Cotto won. Very entertaining fight. Hellova lot better than the Wlad fight.
Vlad hurt him
Nice shots by the big guy. Seems Peter is more than game. Don't like how he absorbed that left hook from Russki. Peace. Hellova right to Peters face.
Damn!
Nice combo from Cotto drops Torres. 1st knockdown of the night. Came with about 1:30 or so left of the 1st round.. Now Cotto gets hurt. Sick. Nice round. Lots of action. Left hook from Torres rocked him.
2nd round and Cotto is getting rocked. Tons of shots. Cotto in big trouble.
Keep checking back for updates
Really nice to stick it in someone elses noses!!!
What about those who live in Europe and cant get the channel...???
We'll be posting on the rounds, i'm sure. Keep checking back. Peace.
As for the rematch, how will things be different? I don't believe old man Hopkins can go 12 hard rounds, so he will again give away rounds and not be able to win a decision. We already know that even with a headbutt/concussion assist he can't KO Taylor. Plus, Hopkins is even older this time around and Taylor will be stronger and better conditioned for 12 rounds.
I think it's safe to say that Hopkins will be fighting rather dirty during the rematch. He'll go all cell block on Taylor, I fear. Hopkins may go for a dramatic early win but that's just wishful thinking on my part. I know it's unlikely from Hopkins. He may fight the same exact fight but get aggressive earlier for a mid round KO or a UD. I don't think Taylor will knock him out. I believe if there's a KO opportunity we may see it from Hopkins over Taylor but that's just me. I know I'm not in the majority on that one. As you say, it will be a great fight regardless. I'm psyched as hell to see it. Peace.
I think Hopkins wins and Tito would be irrelevent
First off I believe Hopkins won the fight. B.H. is notoriously slow in the first few rounds and was hurting Taylor towards the end of the fight when he naturally picked up the pace and began to dominate only a little too late to solidify a win in the eyes of the judges. I don't believe Taylor did enough to dethrone the champ but he did perform and fought very well. I just don't believe he won. When I saw the fight I thought Taylor would one day be champ but he's not dominating this fight. I'm a little old school when it comes to taking a champs belts. You'd better win convincingly. Knock-downs, knock out or complete domination; nothing less will do. I didn't see that in Taylor. I did see Hopkins use his tried and true style which he mastered long ago of starting slow, picking away and coming on stronger as the fight went on. Hopkins has obviously mastered this style and I was not surprised in the manner in which he fought Taylor.
Assuming that Taylor wins the rematch and Hopkins is out of the running for a while I do not believe Tito should come back for a shot at the belts. It could make an interesting match up after a couple of tune up fights. Tito would only take one or two bouts max before demanding a title shot. I hope he doesn't come out of retirement just because Hopkins theoretically loses a rematch. That would be cheesy and rather manipulative of a fighter and managers. Why retire in the first place? Can't take Hopkins so you split until Hopkins is gone? How many former champs will do this? Should they all just lay low until someone they can't beat leaves the scene. Would you have a lot of respect for them if they take a title this way? I don't see the honor in it but business is business and boxing is about maneuvering for fights. In fact, that's the only way to succeed when you're coming up but that's not how a top tier fighter should maneuver. Certainly not a former champ who's already retired twice. Besides, It shakes up the rankings a little too much for my taste. I don't think it's fair to other fighters. It seems like special treatment and would not be just in my opinion. How would you feel if you were an up and coming boxer and then a 3rd return from retirement takes place from Tito?
Cool post. Peace.
3rd round was Cottos
He was much more dominant and backed Torres up a lot. Delivered a ton of power punches, out pointed Torres.
4th round, a little slower. Torres backing up. Cotto delivering more body shots. Cotto being agressive. little action from Torres. He just went down from a body shot. Torres is up.
These guys are trading in the center
Trading power punches. Cotto got warned for low blow. They're stopping for Torres to get a moment. About to start round again. Torres is kinda miling it. They're starting up again.
Body shots by Cotto backs Torres up a bit. Another low blow by Cotto. another warning, that's 2 for Cotto.
Back again trading in the center, body shots by Cotto has Torres on the ropes.
Ode to the hype
I like Pac but he's got the most ridiculous fan base. They really love him and that's all well and good so In my opinion no other fan base comes close to their level of fanaticism. I hear he's a movie star at home and that may have something to do with it.
He's an entertaining fighter, no doubt. Tons of heart so I won't take anything away from him as this thread is about fans rather than boxers. I selected his fans only because some of the threads posted on this site demonstrate a strong inability by fans to listen to the slightest criticism.
2nd place would be the recent Taylor fans. Seems like many are just hating Hopkins far more than they are supporting Taylor.
3rd place would go to Iron Mike fans. Still fantasizing about a come back and capturing a belt one day. Gimme a break already. He's cooked, stick a fork in him.
Peace to all.
RIP L.Johnson.
He's pretty amazing when it comes to recovering
...Cotto is so hard to figure out. Easily hurt and easily recovers as well. Calm and cool even when he is hurt badly. I have never seen another fighter like that.
Great fight huh. Cotto really is hard to knock out. I was surprised he didn't go down more often, he got hit more than enough with terribly hard shots. Torres did well but Cotto wanted it more. Great win for Cotto. I hope to see more of him soon.
Cotto Wins by Knock Out
Cotto dominated the last round and dropped Torres after cornering him with some hard shots, combos, body shots. Right hook rocked and dropped Torres and he did not recover. Was counted out on his knees. Cotto remains unbeaten. Torres gave a great performance. He still has a future and should get a rematch if he can. Nice fight.
He's awsome
...fuckin Marty Feldman from his classic role in Young Frankenstein. Personaly, I think his best was roll was in "Yellow Beard".He's great. I dig his movies. Gene Wilder is great too. I don't remember if i spelled his name correctly lol. Peace.
This shit is gonna be rediculous
It's on like popcorn. There's George!!!! Booyah! Here comes Coto.
Peter looks fuckn diesel!
Who's gonna win? This is gonna be a good card. Get your beers.
Larry Merchant
Lookin like Barney Rubble, isn't he?
"We've seen a battle of skill, now it's a matter will" Bla bla bla. How many times does he throw that line around? I wonder if he'll use it tonight. I've heard him use it before as if it were sooo profound. He's retarded. lol
Torres dropped in the 6th
Striaght right drops Torres at the end of the round. Both guys are fighting hard. There goes Larry opening his retarded drunk mouth
There's hurricane Cotto against Hurricane Torres, What a dick. Forman shuts him up saying don't mention Hurricanes right now LOL
One two from Cotto; jab, left, jab followed by a straight right.
Coot now getting hammered, 7th round and Cotto is getting the worst of the exchange. Torres is stronger and may be behind on points. He's really rocking Cooto often during this fight. Almost every round Cotto gets hit and he's almost out on his feet. Now Cotto comes back, this is a great fight. Lots of 10-8 rounds from all the knock downs.
Whoever made this thread is a fucking cow and a big dumbass fool. Whoever heard of a creature who posts threads which attack fans in a boxing forum. Point of discussion must be boxers dummy! lol!
This is just a clear sign of stupidity. Whining and all.
As for the fans. The most ignorant and most in denial are the MAB fans. lol!
MAB fans?
We are not. lol

This is ridiculous
How much can the gulf coast take? If this storm gets to be a worst case scenario there will be an unprecedented migration of citizens the likes of which the US hasn't seen since the great depression or perhaps even the civil war. I think we'd be kidding ourselves by suggesting there are sufficient resources to accommodate this many people. Not with a war ongoing and National Guard troops deployed from every state. I believe that there are reports of thousands still struggling to be rescued in Mississippi and Louisiana. Entire towns yet to receive aid. God forbid this thing from turning north on New Orleans again. That could make the current migration permanent. American refugees is something I did not foresee in my lifetime. You folks in the gulf coast are in my prayers. Peace.
Dead thread, please ignore.
Terrible news. I watched that fight live and he been in my prayers since.

Great post
Now that time has passed & the initial controversy has faded....
Let the truth be known -
That first fight sucked.
Because there was so little going on, any little thing one did to the other was completely exaggerrated.
I saw the fight a week later.....& none of what I read, by the HEATED supporters of either, apppeared as described.
I read someone in here say the right hand Hopkins hit Taylor with in the ninth round "sounded like a gun going off!". It was a decent punch AT BEST, & unfortunately...the best shot of the whole fight.
I hope to God this next fight is better. I'm tired of tentativeness being mistaken for technique, startegy, & "boxing".
This is a really good post, I must admit. I laughed, agreed & disagreed.
Dead right on so little going on and exaggerated descriptions of the fight. I also hope the next fight is better although I disagree about tentativeness being mistaken for technique, etc. I'm assuming, I hope correctly that you were referring to Hopkins. I see where fans perceive it that way but Hopkins is or was winning consistantly doing it his way. Granted, he has a damn long feeling out process but it's more than just that. He manages to win this way time and time again. He's mastered his game, his style. He does have the longest title defense 'ever' in the history of the sport. It is boring, no question about it and unfortunately it doesn't gain him any fans. Anyway, boxing would be better served in the short term and long term if he stopped fighting soon, win or lose the second fight he should retire. He's great as far as I'm concerned. I'll be a fan regardless of the outcome. Peace.
Did he run out of gas already?
What the hell was that. No 2nd knock down. There wasn't a punch. He just fell over cause he seems tired. What's the fuck did people pay to see this for? Vlad seems like a paper tiger.
Peters is lookin kinda wild, not very skilled, just lots of power.
Vlad seems to be coming back in the 6th now. He has not hurt Peter at all, not once. Vlad has been hurt or is exhausted. That pisses me off, how can a fighter run out of gas so early. Gimme a break. He better hang in for 12 or i'll start to hate him lol. Grrrr! LOL :) Looks like Peter has some eye problems, is that swelling?
Peace all.
Holyfield is over, Mesi is not
I'd hate to see Evander ever fight again. It's just sad at this point. He seemed practically non responsive during his last couple of fights.
Mesi on the other hand should fight in Italy if he can but not against Holyfield. Mesi knows he can still fight. His condition has healed and there is no measurable evidence of existing damage from that injury therefore the doctors working for the boxing commissions are considering odds of a repeat injury. It's more of a theory that he would have greater odds of being hurt again although it cannot be proven. It can only be presumed. It's a matter of opinion within the medical community. Not a guarantee fact.
There's always a chance a fighter could get seriously injured or killed in the ring and Mesi knows it as does every fighter with a brain cell between their ears. Perhaps Mesi doesn't observe any difference between his condition today and his condition before his injury. After all, many Doctors believe he's good to go and can fight again since he's healed up. We all know Mesi has received a ton of 2nd opinions but the Commission is taking a prudent stance and I don't blame them for doing so. After yesterday's passing of L. Johnson I don't think any fan can blame them either.
All this stuff has been said before, though.
I think Mesi still has a few years of boxing left and I hope he never gets injured again. I can sympathize with him for demanding to fight whether it's in the US or abroad. It's his livelihood after all. What else will he make a living from? Peace.
RIP L. Johnson.
