Every once in a while I find myself completely disagreeing with a ref. We've all been there. There are always times when they don't count a knockdown or show something we'd rather not see. Sometimes it seems that a ref may be turning a blind eye and sometimes it's just blatant favoritism.
Who do you feel has consistently performed poorly as a ref? If the Ref were a horse you'd have to put em down. That kind of poor refereeing.
Remember now, consistently showing poor performance as a Referee. Not just one bad night but repeatedly demonstrating incompetence.
Jay Nady for stoppin the fight
too quick on Zab Judah. Thats why
Zab choked him.
That was not a tough call for Nady. Judah looked retarded stumbling all over the ring. If he had the sense to take a knee for 8 I think Nady would have let him go on. When Judah got up and couldn't even speak nor keep his balance. He tried to mouth something and point then he nearly fell over and ended up stumbling back across the ring like a fall down drunk. Kosta would have hurt him if Nady let it go on. Judah couldn't even pretend to be ok at the count of 8, 9, 10 and I don't believe he would have recovered.
as an american who once lived in britain now back in the states.
NO DOUBT........mickey vann
and a blind as a bat judge too.

:D I never noticed it b4 but a boxing writer said watching Mickey Vann referee was like watching an episode of 'come dancing' where they do the ballroom type stuff, just watching him float around the ring cracks me up now it's funny as fuck.
It was a disgrace that he should have been allowed to ref so many Hatton fights on the trot it was over 10 in a row if i'm right, doesn't give off a good impression that.

Most of the time the ref doesn't change the outcome of a fight, and even when that does happen, maybe it was a good decision (e.g. Taylor-Chavez).
You're kidding right? Good decision?...............Taylor is damn near brain dead now from that fight and has nothing to show for it. The fight would have ran out of time before chavez could get across the ring and Taylor would have had the victory he earned that night, gone out with honor instead of getting it taken away from the gap-toothed son of a bitch steele.
Steele gets my vote not only for being the worst ref ever, but I'm also electing him number 1 ref I will gladly go to jail for knocking the fuck out of should we ever cross paths.
QUESTION TO YOU GUYS:
who is the Philly Ref who went to Germany to ref the Michelczewski-Richard Hall fight????
The ref admitted to Hall, when they crossed paths at the airport when after returning to the US, that he was brougth over to "help" Darius and the ref said "sorry brotha, I didn't know you could hit that hard"....I believe Hall had Darius in trouble, the nDarius landed a combo and the ref just jumped in and stopped it....
ANYBODY remember this guy's name? Old African-American, greasy hair, slightly balding in front......?????????????????
That fight wasn't stopped; Dariusz won by decision. Oh wait yeah you mean HALL I thought it said Hill. Yeah. Still can't get that pussyboy German to admit that fight was rigged. You know the guy, the German who posts on here...I forget his name. KLitschKO maybe? A real smartass Dariusz lover/Roy hater.
I agree.
Id have to say Richard Steele for the obvious reasons, that guy always seemed to be in the pocket of Don King.
ALso I dont like Earl Morton either. The reason being I know hes ref'd many Gatti fights before but the officating during the Mayweather fight was horrible, when Mayweather holding and hitting Gatti Morton called for a break and looked like he was going to walk in and seperate it, instead he doesnt and Mayweather gets a free shot on Gatti knocking him down.
Also go back to Gatti Ward II in the 2nd rd I believe Morton does the same thing, Ward is hold and hitting Gatti, Morton says break and acts like he is goin to step in but doesnt and Ward smacks Gatti w/ 3 or 4 consecutive punches, Gatti turns turn Morton and shurgs his shoulders as if sayin "what the fuck?". As a Gatti fan maybe I am biased but the facts r there, look at them and decide.I feel the same way. Although I'm a Gotti fan I feel that our boy was outmatched before stepping in the ring. That was a tough punch for Gotti to recover from and I think that one punch did the most damage to him and caused the fight to end earlier than it would have. I still hold that against Morton. He demonstrated his lack of professionalism by adversely affecting the fight and I don't believe he took responsibility for his actions. Perhaps in his next bout Morton will let one fighter brutally punch his opponent in the balls well after the round ends and then count his opponent out. Why not?
I tell ya, I wouldn't want to see him ref'n a fight i'm betting on. Oh, Richard Steel is also a very iffy ref. When he was in the locker rooms going over the rules with each boxer he could barely speak coherently. He seemed punch drunk as hell, if ya ask me. He also had a freudian slip somewhere before the fight. Something about "punishing" if i remember correctly. Anyone else catch that?

Roger Tilleman
German who refereed the Ottke vs Reid fight.
I don't know what his consistancy is, but that one performance deserves a mention.
That gets my vote too.
Uhh, yes it is. The ref for Tszyu-Hatton was as bad or worse than the one for Lacy-Reid, so it's quite obvious you are biased in some way. If not Brit bias, I dunno what. Reid fought dirty so he got what he dished out.
Clearly, Tommy Kimmons is the worst ref in history :) just playin' SL
Robert Gonzalez, the ref that Zahir Raheem had to battle with in his match vs. Rocky Juarez, is the most corrupt ref I've seen in years...he was consistantly behind Juarez, screaming at Raheem, whereas a ref should be perpendicular to the fighters....it was blatantly corrupt, it was as if Zahir was fighting 2 guys in there....
John Schorle gets the call in big fights in CA, but he hasn't done that well recently (remember that Navarro kid who counted HIMSELF out to Schorle's face, when Schorle wouldn't stop the fight after constant begging from Navarro? Funny stuff)
people ususally diss Rich Steele, i think he's done great since he returned from his short retirement....
on the flip side, Kenny Bayless and Robert Byrd have improved drastically in the past few years
hmm
Though off the top of my head (and this isn't because of any Brit bias) the two that stand out for me most recently are the guy who did Lacy-Reid (Forget Reid's own transgression - the guy hits him illegally after the break and he STILL gives him the ten count?) and the ref of Tyson-Williams.

The judging is where the real action takes place. I bet if you think about the fights where you thought the decision was way wrong, the referee wasn't the reason.
Even though it was only 1 fight you have to give a mention to Tilleman cos that was just laughable but not really! A guy I haven't seen for a while is Toby Gibson, can't stand the bloke and Jay Nady, not a big fan of his either much too fussy.
