ive been hearing a lot about this guy from my friends for some time now. most about how barrera kicked his ass. do any of you guys know where i can find a video of that fight?
I am not some big fan of Naz but you guys REALLY have to learn a little balance. Barrera is a GREAT! For a fighter to lose to Barrera isn't some shameful thing.
The fight was one sided and Naz certainly was exposed for his lack of preperation but this is Barerra. Would you call everyone Barrera has beaten a bad fighter?
Naz is NOT a great. I'm not sure who is saying he is. You seem to think that lots of people do.
Naz had great abilities. Naz did not have the will to be a great.
He WAS greatly entertaining though.
yess
Get the fuck outa here lads. hahaha he peek a booed my ass. He stood there and waved your man in, and the proceeded to catch him clean the whole fight. In 12 rounds I remember about one or two occasions when Naz (who was supposed to be the supreme boxer) caught Barrera!
Lets not re write what happened to your hero guys. He was supposed to beat a supposedly washed up, one dimensional Marco Antonio Barrera in the weight class were he was king. What happened...........he got a fucking boxing lesson from a man who was considered a one dimensional slugger!
PRINZE NASEEM- fought fucking stiffs until he got in with Kevin Kelley. Great fight, he got flattened a few times before he Ko'd Kelley. Then he goes on to the Great Augie Sanchez and once again gets put down while looking suspect the whole fight. He comes through again. Then he steps up to world class....BARELY LANDS A TELLING PUNCH ON BARRERA!!!!
PRINZE NAZ= ONE OF THE BIGGEST FUCKING MYTHS TO EVER APPEAR IN BOXING! RIP NAZ, YOU GOT FOUND OUT AGAINST BARRERA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hell yea u said it man, marco took him every round. amen thnks for puttin this out.:boxing:

couldn't of said it better, as soon as he was in a 50/50 fight he got fucked I knew when he stepped up in class he would get it, Berrera was the first fighter with real class he fought. he turned down a return with Berrera the chicked fuck
In my book Naz won against Barrera lol. Due to the fact that Barrera rammed his head into the turnbuckel Hulk Hogan stylie in the late round. Barrera has been getting away with dirty fighting for years :P
Barrera didnt really kick his ass at all,,..
He took him to skool he didnt kick his ass..
He never hit the deck or anything like that so i wouldnt class that as kicking your ass....
hahaha nice one cock, do you not see the irony of calling me a "web warrior" and then acting like a tough guy on the forum haaa, what a dick. Also do you think just cos he was a boxer I can't say he was a piece of shit, whats that about? are they immune or something? he was a piece of shit, I've seen pretty much all his fights, deal with it.
Oh, it's not tough to deal with a negative opinion from someone who can't articulate their thoughts very well.
I've never acted like a tough guy any place where it wasn't necessary. You made a statement backed up by no well presented argument and topped it off by resorting to profanity. You presented all the signs of an insecure moron.
Your resultant attack and red karma bar (you sure know how to make pals) support my theory.
As for Hamed, great abilities let down by lack of character. He stopped training properly and let himself down badly.
Barrera made him look absolutely ridiculous and that is something that is very hard to come back from especially with his over the top bravado.
It's to Zab's credit that he came back after his widely seen 'chicken dance'.
Hamed's record is still better than Pacmans though
If you are suggesting that greatness is measured purely on a fighters record then you are a big a joke as Naz. That guy Ali's record wasn't the best, guess he ain't up to much.
Naz was over reliant on 2 assets, he was one of the biggets punchers in boxing pound for pound but could't put punches together or fight on the inside, and his defence was based purely on his cat like reflexes, there was no defence to speak of and he was always gonna get tagged when he stepped in with the real greats of the division. He was never gonna have longevity in his career when your style is reflex based.
Also i suggest you watch the barrera fight again particularly the part where he manhandles him and rams him into the corner, if you think that he was scared of naz and ran away from him with a peek-a- boo style. Thats quite a claim when your boy was in essence a counter puncher himself and looked like a lost soul when he had to come forward and force the fight.
Finally naz could never, ever have been great because he is a bullying cowardly pussy. Can you imagine ali hanging his gloves up and losing the heart to fight after his fight with frazier, or can you honestly imagine naz fighting on with a broken jaw for 15 rounds. Which fight was it when he said that he hadn't had a good fight cos he had a cold, ha ha ha.
He probably still wets the bed dreaming of Barrera
It was in the States where he prayed to Allah before the Barrera fight. IN THE RING! And this was the weekend of Easter. Insiders of Naz's camp said he picked that date to show to his fellow Muslims that a Muslim was greater than a Christian.
But Barrera was the Crusader that night and crucified him. Long Live Barrera!
then either naz knows very little about islam, or the "insiders" are talking shit. i think the latter.
i personally think naz just started using his religion as an angle...an over-the-top promtional stunt to create more controversy and therefore generate more interest and £££s in his fights.
religion and sport should remain separate...its bad enough a lot of people only support boxers from their own countries, so lets not extend it to religions as well.
Well stated. You hit the nail on the head.
I loved every moment of this fight. It's the only match where I lost my composure and started jumping up and down screaming and yelling at the TV. I'll never forget when Barrera put the Naz in the corner, face first like Naz was his bitch. One of my favorite fights ever!
I hear Naz still serving a prison sentence for running someone over while drunk or on drugs. That person is now permanently disabled, wheelchair for life.
Peace!
Hes been out a long time. He only served half of his very short sentance.
Brilliant!

Im sure it was you who posted this before, and i asked where u got that info from.
I still think Hamed, although an asshole, wouldnt have gone so far and made it so personal.
Personally, ive gone from being a fan, to really hating him, and now really appreciating his skills and the drama he brought to each fight.
He wasnt as good as he thought he was, and he acted like a stupid idiot alot of the time, and made himself look a fool.
But he was great for boxing.
Whatever point you have, you are making it stupid and looking ignorant.
Barerra WAS a tremendous fighter, certainly the better on the night and he IS a legend. But claiming Naz to be 'overhyped' when I'm almost certain that you only saw one of his fight...thus not knowing what hype there was to live up to, nor how he had done so previously. Furthermore, its commonly accepted and fairly widespread information that Naz was on his way out when he fought Barerra. He'd lost his love for Boxing. Was not training as much, was struggling in fights, wasnt as dedicated or commited and was relying on his power to win him fights. Its not hard to find the information that backs this up.
I understand what you are saying mate. But I didnt call Naz a bum, I just said he was way overrated. I said it back the and I live in Britain. It just seemed to me that he was fighting nobodies, or people well past their prime. Even back then I couldnt understand why people were saying he was almost p4p number 1. He never beat anyone to merit that! Christ he never even went on to fight Junior Jones or Kennedy McKinney like he was supposed to. His biggest fight before Barrera was Kevin Kelley, he gets knocked down a few times and the pulls out a great KO! That aint good enough to be ranked among the top ten of the p4p! I mean he was within the top 3 before the Barrera fight, that was bullshit.
Look at Hatton, he had to fight and the beat the best in his division to even break through to the big time. But it is arguable that even though Hatton wasnt fighting the best opposition before Tszyu, he was fighting better fighters than Naz. Thats what I mean when I say he was a myth. His biggest fight comes up against Barrera, and lets be honest, Barrera gave him a bit of a lesson. There were times in that fight were Naz looked like a lost schoolboy, he had no answer. At the end he ended up clapping Barrera.
As regards not knocking Naz out, since when does knock out prove anything? By the reasoning of some on here BARRERA DIDNT KNOCK NAZ OUT = BARRERA DIDNT TEACH NAZ A LESSON= NAZ WASNT A BUM! Naz had a great chin, I couldnt believe how he stood up to some of the punches Barrera landed! But he was wobbled three clear times, and the fact that he took so many clean punches says a lot. Never mind the fact that Barrera was constantly outjabbing the southpaw Naz! IT SAYS A LOT WHEN THERE ARE NO KO'S BUT EVERYONE IN THE ARENA IS CLEAR ABOUT WHO HAS JUST WON THE FIGHT. HELL EVEN NAZ KNEW. IT JUST WASNT CLOSE, BARRERA WAS A CLEAR WINNER!
Then he goes on to the Great Augie Sanchez
Now now, let's not overrate Augie Sanchez. He was far from great. He was said to have one of the worst chins in boxing with his KO losses sending him to the hospital and supposely banned due to how violently his KO losses were. Really Hamed just fought a glass chinned guy that had a nice looking record. :trink26:
I may be daft, but what exactly was "the September 11th thing" and its relation to Naz? Was it because he used to praise Allah? If that's it, it would seem pretty insane of a reeason to derail a career so dramatically.
Religion was a big part of Naz. He praised Allah on every fight, it was part of who he was. Can you imagine him fighting in the states praising Alah? I bet everyone involved including Naz was scared of his safety after that. I think it had an impact on his boxing career.
I find it a little sad that people are so negative on this forum.
Nazeem Hamed was a very unconventional fighter, blessed with extreme reactions and power. Very few fighters in the lower classes have one punch KO power and Hamed did. He was thrilling to watch.
He was not a great because he didn't have the will to be. He was declining (comparible to Tyson) without losing but scraping through on his inate talent. He was ripe to be exposed by a great like Barrera.
He will remain for me one of boxing's 'coulda beens'.
Don't dismiss him til you've seen more than one or two of his fights.
And for those of you who are so critical, how many 'greats' have been destroyed by one bad fight and barely ever returned. I saw only one come back for Lacy. Mesi can't fight like he used to (obviously), and even Tua's lost his touch.
Once a fighter loses their confidence (and towards the end all Hamed had was arrogance) a significant number lose all their skills.
And for the asshole who refers to any boxer as a 'Piece of Shit', fuck off back to your Grandma's basement and post some more equally ignorant bullshit.
Web Warrior!!!!
