========The amateurs need some serious restructuring.=========
** Nobody wants to watch the amateurs. Their too far removed from the pros now. I don't understand why grownup boys want to play house with 3 rounders when they could turn pro and earn some change and learn the game better. I'd be embarrassed to be an amateur after 17-18 yrs of age.
Do you even box? If not you can shut the fuck up right away. How can there be any legends if they don't start as amateur. Every good boxers had a good amateur background, thats where you learn. And sorry but guys like Mario César Kindelán Mesa are absolute athletes. Amateurs fight very often, unlike pros who fight every three months or less. Your statement is one of the dumbest i've ever read on these forums.
For god sakes, my freaking gay sports channel is showing a freaking idiot nascar race instead of the @#%ing fight. Because of damn rain showers the freaking useless race as been delayed and i can't watch the fight? What's the point of watching stupid cars turn left for hours. You tell me.
I wonder if the brawl was arranged. It was supposed to be the fight that'll bring the hip hop crowd into boxing. It felt really thug-like that brawl. The bling-bling idiots who knew nothing about boxing next table enjoyed that part more than anything.
ODLH is a bigger money maker than anybody in boxing maybe bigger than PBF
PBF is far from a big money maker in boxing. ODLH will make like 4x the amount he got fighting Zab for what is pretty much a tune up fight for him.
You can make an argument that they are not "scared" of him. Do they really wanna fight him? That's an other question. The kid is tuff. At this point fighting him isn't worth the effort for what they'd get back.
Yeah right and you believe on Santa Claus,Kessler are too strong for them and he will outbox both
I agree. I saw Kessler fight and he's the best man by far in the 168 division. Lacy would never land a power punch on him and Kessler would hit him at will. Kessler is really really impressive.
Barrera won at least twice vs Morales (clearly the 1 and 3, havent seen the 2nd). And Barrera's one of my fav boxer too. Good job humiliating Hamed. Since Morales is his arch rival, i don't like him =P So to me, Barrera's the best of the 2.
I think Bert Sugar would tend to lean towards the idea that you're the moron, not him. I would tend to agree with him on that notion.
I support that statement.
-In the h2h matchup Barrera has the advantage on paper, sure. But in my eyes and the eyes of many other...that second fight was a shady decision.
QUOTE]
But Barrera clearly won the 1st.
Did anyone else notice in the promo for the upcoming Sugar Shane Mosley-Fernando Vargas fight,
the only highlight they could get of Shane Mosley for the promo was when he was able to pick shots in the fight against Winky Wright when Winky intentionally dropped his arms to prove he couldn't be hurt by Mosley... if you'd never seen the fight, you'd think, Wow, that Mosley must be real good... what a joke HBO.
Yeah i saw it and thought it was damn funny.
Retarded, and not worth a response.
You should ask yourself how much of what you post here isn't motivated by hate and dislike.
Almost nothing.
I support the motion.
The real story is, he got to court to had "Marvelous" to his name because the announcers wouldn't call him marvelous. He wasn't respected early in his career and racism was a part of the game as I read. They said they'd never call him marvelous unless it's is name, somehow to disrepsect him. You know the rest.
Judah got knockout by Tsyzu's right hand which isn't super fast but really powerful. Got stunned hard by the light hitting and slow right hand of Baldomir. Judah got no defence against straight right hands. And Floyd's one is the best in the business. KO 1-3 rounds.
Morales just had not to eat himself out of the 130 division. It's not Pacquiao's fault who grew 7 weight class already. Just like Corrales who is 6" and still weigh-in at 135. It's Morales who isn't ready to make compromises.
to put it nice and simple leonard when doin compentary was on tyson's nuts alllllllllll ways. :)
Now talk about a constuctive argument. Tyson came in when the HW division was searching itself. He was fresh air thats all. that smiley makes me think you were half serious anyway...
I went with Tyson. I'm not going by opposition, I was looking at how much they dominated. I know you can't tell me that Sugar Ray Leonard dominated his opponents more than Tyson did. I know all the "Tyson had the weaker opponents" comments are going to come in, but hey a pro is a pro, and Tyson dominated all his opponents out-powering them.*
*on a side note Leonard did dominate by out-boxing his opposition, I will give him that.
That is so ridiculus. It's like comparing orange with apples. Leonard beat more HALL OF FAMERS in their PRIME. Tyson beat 2 hall of famer way past their prime or buffed up lower class boxers. You grade fighters by how bad they dominated some nobodies? I hope you realize now how much this argument doesn't make sence.
watch his fights... the hagler fight says it all... this is for your stupid remarks
You should watch the fight yourself cuz yes, Leonard beat Halger fair and square. Pertonellis just thought it would b a big name title defence but Dundee and Leonard outplayed them so bad. And if Leonard was running so much, how come the 9th round had more punches thrown than round 1 of hagler vs hearns?
Ray Leonard : started the 80s champ, ended the 80s champ. Five time world champ in 5 different weight classes (first fighter to ever achieve that in the history of the sport). Beat Tommy Hearns, hall of famer, Roberto Duran, Hall of famer, Wilfred Benitez, hall of famer, Marvin Hagler, Hall of famer in the upset of the decades, who was undefeated in years, undisputed middleweight champ and p4p one of the greatest. He's the miracle man, an increbly popular figure in America.
Mike Tyson : Won the HW crown at an early age with a brutal knockout. Destroyed a buffed hall of famer light heavyweight in 1988. KOed a 39y old hall of famer in Larry Holmes.
Objectively, Leonard acomplished incredibly more than Tyson. If you think Tyson is the fighter of the 80s, you're a poor fanboy.
Saying Robinson is the greatest pound for pound fighting machine of all time is a consensus made by boxing critics, like music critics saying The Beatles r the most important band of all time. Personnally, i think Bob Dylan did more in it's time than the Beatles but i am a single person and it's ok to have an opinion. You can make the same judgements based one what u've seen. there have been SO MANY great boxers, ranking them is simply a game. Critics said it was Robinson, the majority aknowledge. But if u believe another fighter was better, so be it. It won't kill anybody. You can argue about your beliefs on a forum if u like it, and the fun part of it is, there is NO objective answer to the question. Argue and have fun (but stay civilized while doing it...)
the worst thing that could happen is, someone starts convincing you about a boxer and u start searching for his fights and you discover a fighting style you really enjoy. Boxing is like art, you cannot know too much about it.
Lucian Bute will beat Lacy. He did better vs every fighter he fought who had fought Lacy(Wiggins KO2 vs KO8 for Lacy), Calzaghe(Salem KO8 vs UD for Calzaghe) and Kessler(Thobela KO4 vs UD for Kessler). He hits hard and is a way better boxer than Lacy.
yeah it ''took'' longer for Leonard but he achived incredibly more and on a longer basis. Knocking light heavies or past their prime legends is no great feat my friend. HW was a sick division, not as bad as today but it WAS in a sad state.
leonard lost to duran and had to avenage it, and he got the "media" descion vs hagler, he beat heanrs and got a gift draw in the second fight with heanrs in which leonard admitted he lost and thats that,
Don't make me laugh, Leonard won against Hagler fair and square. It's the perfect exemple of the victory of a corner. Angelo Dundee outsmarted the Petronellis. Leonard lost his first fight vs Duran in a perfect fight style for Duran and he barely lost it. Than come back and humiliate him. His draw vs Hearns, 2nd fight was a gift yes, but he did won against him in both men's prime. Leonard acheived incredibly more than Tyson ever did. Tyson was the youngest HW champ THATS ALL. The only fighters he fought were buffed up lower class fighters and passed their prime boxers. Leonard has countless achievement, alot of which had never been done in boxing history.
You pick Tyson ; You got no objectivity.
So what, Tyson was known at 19? Leonard too was known at the young stage of his career with his incredible performance and his epic win over Andres Aldama in Montreal. Tyson didn't even made the olympic team...
