And you probably thought the knockdown was legit...
Even without the knockdown he still clearly won. The 1st fight was a much worse decision than the 2nd fight.
IMO i dont think EM-MAB 4 will not prove anything.
suppose morales wins, then it will level the matchup (2-2). the question will still be a question.
suppose barrera win, the debate will still not stop. arguments for morales will say that EM still has the advantage since morales beats the man (pac) who KO'ed the man (barrera) who beats him. a 3-1 in favor of barrera will just, IMO, will end up as if it's 2-2.
-In the h2h matchup Barrera has the advantage on paper, sure. But in my eyes and the eyes of many other...that second fight was a shady decision.

Barrera is betta than Terible. Same way we see Tarver being betta than Roy Jones Jr havin beaten him twice officially and 3 times to the eyes of the public.
i think barreras better than morales.
if you look at their whole careers in terms of the fighters they have fought it can be argued that they have a similar resume, dont look at the last 2-3 fights, judge barrera on his WHOLE career and his resume matches erik morales, the only thing morales has over barrera is the fact that he has beaten opposition barrera has not defeated, but look at who barrera has lost to, is there any shame in losing to junior jones or manny pacquiao??? if they were journeymen fighters then i would be raising question marks on barrera but their is no shame in losing a fight against a good fighter.
barrera is a 3 weight world champion, just like morales and has the possibility if rumors are true to become a 4th weight class champion, he will be the only mexican to ever achieve this. he also beat morales twice in their trilogy, when 2 top fighters have basically even opposition, the best way to judge them is on their fights with eachother, barrera has come out on top of his trilogy with morales.
in my opinion barrera is also the better boxer and has more variety when it comes to his boxing. i think if barrera were to beat pacman in a rematch then i dont think this question would need to be asked about who is the better fighter out of barrera and morales.
This thread always seems to come up but there is never a real conclusion my vote is for Morales like it has been the privious times this thread came up, their rivalry will never end they are even considering fighting a fourth time, so I think that at the end of their careers that is when we should ask this question they are both hall of fame candidates, and they are both great Mexican fighters, but regardless of all of this my vote still goes for Morales.
take into consideration all of there fight opponents not just thier fights against each other
I haven't read the rest of the thread, but I get the sense tht after they both retire, people will look back on Morales and say that he lost to a worse fighter. Styles make fights.
I'm not going to bother backing up my assertion with stats. I could, but it's really early and I don't have the inclination. I'm just saying that at the pit of my stomach, this is what I feel.
I think Morales is the Better boxer on the 2
I saw the Morales-Barrera 3 fight even. And I think it deserves a 4th match after PACMAN disposes Morales :D
And when that happen.... I'll bet for Morales
those same fans that see the second fight shady will also say the same for the first fight. they each got a victory that should of gone to the other one but the 3rd fight was hands down mab fight. who is the better of the 2 who ever gets a fight with marquez. (MAB will beat pacman in a rematch and he would beet raheem)
good point with marquez. No one will give him a shot so he won't move up. definitely a contender for the big three.
Probably won't be as exciting watching marquez because of his counter style.
But i'd still love to see it.

they both hav their own qualities, in terms of success morales might have little more, bdevastating kayo losses. So morales looks better on paper, but both arearrera is more experienced. morales has never been kayod or even been closed to getting kayod, but barrera has 3 neck to neck fighters.
Morales, better on paper? I beg to differ. Zaheer Raheem, cough, cough.
I'd rather get Koed by Pacman anyday.

At first I would have said outright the Erik is better than MAB, but as well explained by Ultimate, NOW I could not say it outright ...
but if ever there will be MAB-EM 4 I am betting all my point on Erik...
Styles make fights and while MAB may have beaten Erik in their trilogy, The fact is Erik has been the winner over not one but two fighters that MAB proved he could not beat and in fact got stopped by them.
I think in comparison Erik's resume is better and proves him as the slightly better fighter since he went through more elite fighters, and beat fighters MAB couldnt beat. MABs record ist nothing to snear at either though.
When it comes to the two against each other Erik style simply plays into MAB's.
I say Barrera is the best out of them two!
You wont see Marco defending his title against fighters that have been inactive for more than three years and unranked 'ala' Eddie Croft! :D
their last fight was called 'once & for all'
Erik Morales. I've been over this so many times but it never gets old.
-Morales was 36-0 as a 122 pounder and is top 3 to ever fight at that weight. He beat Barrera, Jones, Zaragoza, Molina and McCullough at that weight...defending his belt 9 times against damned good fighters while pretty much cleaning out the division.
-Morales moved up to 126 and beat fighters such as Kelley, Chi, Ayala and Espadas. In the rematch with BArrera, most ring side observers, experts, and fans with two working eyes thought that Morales won. 126 pound WBC title was his second world title in a weight class.
-Morales then moved up to 130 where he fought a HELLACIOUS 5 fight schedule, beating the likes of Pacquiao, Chavez, Hernandez, Espadas, losing to Barrera in another close but epic fight. 130 saw him win his 3rd world title in a given weight class...joining the great Julio Cesar Chavez in that capacity.
-Barrera has been dominated and KNOCKED OUT on more than one occasion (Jones, Pacquiao) Morales (though he was for the most part dominated by Raheem) has never been knocked out.
-Morales is a very versatile boxer who has one of the best chins the sport has EVER seen. He has never been legitimately knocked down.
-Morales only fights the hardest fights and never strays away from a challenge. You won't see Erik taking on any Mzonke Fanas. He fights for the fans and has one of the biggest hearts the sport has seen in awhile. He's a certified crowd pleaser.
-In the h2h matchup Barrera has the advantage on paper, sure. But in my eyes and the eyes of many other...that second fight was a shady decision.
-Morales still has a great shot at becoming the only Mexican born champion in 4 weight classes and I believe that he will do it before Barrera...probably by beating Jesus Chavez in a rematch.
