Floyd is bad, but his fans are even worse. You really think you can keep stealing people's money this way, with theses shty fights and not damage the sport of boxing. Not only is Floyd not an ATG, he's probably the worst thing that happened to boxing in its entire history. Here you go people, read and understand what has happened. Mayweather-Pacquiao bout made millions, alienated viewers I'll be honest, I didnt bother watching the fight. The higlights I watched the following day were boring enough. I knew Floyd would win the way he won, a decision by running and hugging. That's not boxing. While boxing isnt a sport of violence, it is a COMBAT sport, which is the part most Floyd fans dont seem to understnad. You see people, no other boxer in the planet would win fights, let alone remain undefeated, by doing what Floyd does. Doing what Floyd does makes you a loser in any ring, unless that is you are Floyd Mayweather. Why is this bad for boxing? Many reasons: 1) It aint boxing. Boxing is a combat sport. You may have a strong offensive style or a strong defensive one, but you must dominate your opponent WITH YOUR FISTS. Not by clinching. 2)Its Boring as hell. NO, its no chess match, enough with that BS. You have to fight and you have to win the fight. 3)It creates paper champions. How many of these have we seen. Floyd would be the king of the ****ty boxers but there are many more. What about Cahvez. Jr, What about Danny Garcia, fighting #77 ranked lightweights as a champion? What about Broner until Chino exposed him by humiliating him in the ring. Had Broner been "smart" like Floyd and clinched and run his way to a UD he would have fullfiled the prophecy and we would have oursleves the "next Floyd". I have no doubt about that. Dear God, Chino sohuld have a monument built for saving boxing from another 20 years of Broner as an ATG. What about Lamont Peterson, abuses PEDs, getting his ass whooped and still being a champ? Instead of having real champions like the ones of old, true warriors, we have theses crappy marketing products run by sleezebags making a ton of money by ruining the sport of boxing. A sport that should be as honest, as clean as it gets, two guys fighting one another. Its not that hard to see who really won, why are we even putting up with one robbery after another, why are we putting up with corrupt refs adn judges? People paid money for "the fight of the century". I think they got taken advantage of. On the other hand you have exciting duels going on every now and then, that dont make payperview, than are fought by guys with no belt, but those are only for the true boxing fans and the mass rarely gets to see those. Instead, they get these crappy "fight of the century".

Its in Spanish but pretty good, much better than his interviews in USA. Maybe he feels more comfortable. Basically he says they trained very hard for the fight. He then explains that he just couldnt stop Ruslan that he beat him very hard for the first seven rounds and that didnt stop him, he got tired but he thinks the fight went well. He insists he hit Ruslan a lot but he still took it. He got caught with a good hand on round 11 adn felt it but recovered quickly. His plan all along was to use the jab, he explains that he didnt get his hand hurt, that the gameplan was to jab a lot all along. He says he thought the fight wouldnt last that long becuase of how much he was connecting, but again surprised by the Russians resilience. After 7 or 8th round Ruslan cmae out against with the second wind, Matthysse says he was asking himself how do I stop this guy, but stuck to the gameplan and it turned out well.

Just thought of that, that would be another freaking WAR. It would have to be next year though, Provo took a lot of damage in this fight. Who do you see winning that fight?

Great sportsmanship all around, touching gloves, congratulating the Machine after the fight, apologizing to his countrymen for not winning, even if that was 100% not needed given the great fight he just did. Sure, he's one dimensional, and cant do much besides come forward, but the guy has the most solid chin in boxing, punches like a beast and has the heart of an elephant.

Ruslan packs good power but his record isnt as impressive as some seem to think it is. I mean, there's another thread here with people saying that Provo is more explosive, and that Matthysse has to outbox him to win. I'm not saying its a bad idea to use superior boxing skills, but I'm not seeing where Provodnikov is supposed to have more KO power than Matthysse. Provodnikov has 17 KOs in 27 fights. 5 KO in his last 10 fights. Matthysse has 34 Kos in his 40 fihgts. 8 KO in his last 10 fights. I know, its just numbers, but lets take DeMarcus Corley for example. He fought both Matthysse and Provodnikov in 2011. On January 2011, Matthysse put a terrible beating on DeMarcus with 7 KD before the fight was stopped in the 8th round. December of that same year, Provodnikov fights Corley an goes life and death for 12 rounds to hardly win a UD. If you're affraid of the power of Demarcus Corley, a guy that Matthyyse chewed on like a rubber toy, then how exactly is it that Matthysse should be on his back foot and avoid brawling with Provodnikov?

Osvaldo Principi called "ley del palo por palo", which is spanish and translates roughly to the law of blow per blow, basically means trading punches and lets see who's the tougher guy. I see Provodnikov going for that sort of thing because he hasnt got much more than that to offer. We saw him complain that Algieri was running (when in reality he was being smarter and in many ways outboxing him). I dont think Matthysse would go for a blow for blow trade against Provodnikov when he's got better boxing skills to use, but lets say he does, who do you think wins the blow for blow fight?

Both lost to King Danny, I think they should fight and the winner gets another shot at the Gift man himself. Salka is a true warrior but Matthysse can fight as well, who do you have winning this fight?

Mayweather Maidana II was a shameful display of what boxing has become, TBE running like in an Olympic race track, in a ring just as big, chased by a guy with pillows in his hands with a ref. keeping him away. Oh come on, even for die hard Floyd fans this had to be embarrassing. Then you have Algieri almost getting put to sleep in round one but by some miracle not only surviving, but cleanly winning the rest of the fight ... with one eye. Now that, THATS boxing the way Floyd fans think their idol fights. He moved, he fought off the back foot, but was BOXING. For those that don’t know what boxing means, that’s hitting your opponent while not getting hitting yourself. Not barely touching, patting or caressing the guy with your gloves, but actually punching him. Watching it is a thing of beauty. Algieri was moving backwards, sideways, dodging punches but at the same time landing his own punches and managing the tempo of the fight. That’s skills right there. Boxing is not about who gets hurt the worst, but you could see in Provodnikovs face the work Algieri had done during the entire fight, even without Provo’s power. That’s boxing. Too bad we don’t see more of it these days.

I get it about boxing being a manly, tough guy sport. I get it that Ruslan is the type of boxer that represents that feeling the best. I also get that Provodnikov also came close to finishing the fight in round one with two KD, but at the end of the day Algieri avoided Provodnikov (in a pretty damn small ring), outboxed him the entire fight after round 1, landed more, and seemed to be able to keep doing that all night long if needed.. with one eye. Its not just that he ran and avoided the bigger puncher, the not getting hit part of boxing, he was also landing more on him, so the punch the other guy part was also there. Clear as day and no matter who gets buthurt, Chris Algieri simply outboxed Ruslan Provodmnikov, in spite of the damaged eye. For real I just dont see how anyone can call this a debatable decision, let alone a robbery. Anyone that thinks this was a robbery knows sht about boxing.

Dear God, beat up a shot to pieces Martinez and now we have to endure 1000s of threads of who would win in a fight Cotto or The Incredible Hulk. 1)Cotto would not fight Martinez when Martinez would have destroyed him. 2)Cotto becomes an A side fighter... by losing his A fights. His win against a shot to bits Martinez is now his best win. 3)Martinez showed up barely capable of standing, at times his knees would give even due to the momentum of his own punches alone. The man cant stand well, let alone fight. That's Martinez own fault and he has no one else to blame but himself, but does that make Cotto some kind of legend? For fuks sakes no. Unfortunately Martinez couldnt fight and he shoudlnt have showed up this way. We didnt see some epic battle where both guys went to war and Cotto came out victorius. We saw an old guy that can barely fight get punched. Could it had been an epic war? Sure, if Martinez had been capable of fighting half as well as we hoped for it would have been a good fight. With a 80% Martinez he would have dominated and most likely won. This shadow of who Martinez once was isnt exactly fight of the year candidate. I am one of those that correctly predicted that an 80% Martinez would destroy Cotto. Seems that the information Cotto camp had was correct and Martinez was clearly done before the fight. I mean were not even talking about a 50% Martinez, we're talking about a man that can barely walk around any more and should have never got in the ring with injuries FAR worse than anyone predicted.
