Great sportsmanship all around, touching gloves, congratulating the Machine after the fight, apologizing to his countrymen for not winning, even if that was 100% not needed given the great fight he just did.
Sure, he's one dimensional, and cant do much besides come forward, but the guy has the most solid chin in boxing, punches like a beast and has the heart of an elephant.
He looked like Rocky from the movie head snapping from every punch catching each one of them only difference is he throws fewer. I get frustrated when he just comes in not throwing punches giving his head out like a punching bag.
Ruslan has been good for boxing. The fights with Alvarado and Bradley were two of the best of 2013, and he provided plenty of great entertainment on FNF prior to those fights. It's good he's being smart and already thinking retirement. A warrior like that should go out when he still has fight in him, not when he's a shell of himself.
dunno about that, most ppl felt lucas won clearly, the rounds lucas won were dominant and had ruslan's head looking like a pez dispenser
this was ruslan's most obvious loss IMO
Agreed. No doubt about this loss, though it could be scored close, it's of the close but clear variety.
Can't question his willingness to go in tough but I wish his heart were more into throwing more punches than absorbing them. Best chin in boxing. Lol at anyone still saying Retard Baby Jr has a good chin after getting stopped by Fonfara tonight.
Ruslan earned allot of respect from me tonight. He's a real warrior. To be cut early in the fight like that, against an elite power puncher. To go all 12 rounds and come close to taking the fight. Shows he has the heart of a lion. You see his face after the fight? He too a hell of a beating and came through it.
Respect
warrior! he deserves a nice paycheque. I hope they got paid decently this match.. They both earned it.
That was a nasty cut and his face was bloodied up because of it each round. Not easy.
There's guys that will literally die on their feet before going down. Not common but thats how some people are wired. Its not as good as it sounds. Actually it can be pretty dangerous. Provodnikov took a hell of a beating today.
He still hasn't been defentively beat, and as long he isn't fighting a faded corpse or track star I'll always be willing to watch.

Wasn't just there, he tried to win and actually had Matthyysee in trouble in the 11th (or 10th?) and hesitant to exchange. Yeah he got the snot beat out of him but he puts all on the line. Biggest heart in boxing perhaps.
he always goes out with his heart out. What a guy. Supremely likable. Hopefully he saves his money and retires soon though. Takes too much punishment.
Compare him to Chavez jr today

Definitely one of the most likable guys in the sport. When he apologized to his country after the fight I felt sad, and it made me like him more than I already did. Had there been a couple more rounds he may well have pulled it out. He just got off to a bad start tonight.
I will always root for Provo, guy has the heart of a lion, when he hurt Mathysse in the 11th round I was going crazy, but he lost in the end and I am not sure where he goes from here. He also took a lot of punishment, and while he is tough as nails there is a limit to how much punishment the body can take, hopefully he fights a soft touch in his next one.
Ruslan is a damn warrior! He may not be the most skilled or the smartest, but damn is he entertaining. Hopefully he retires soon though, he takes A LOT of damage
Hell yea man. Ruslan is a true warrior, he doesn't fight dirty and he never quits. I just wish he didn't get hit as much as he does, that can't be good for his health down the road. Maybe 1 or 2 more easy fights and call it a day, he's probably made decent money to live a comfortable life back home in his village.
