Mayweather Maidana II was a shameful display of what boxing has become, TBE running like in an Olympic race track, in a ring just as big, chased by a guy with pillows in his hands with a ref. keeping him away. Oh come on, even for die hard Floyd fans this had to be embarrassing.
Then you have Algieri almost getting put to sleep in round one but by some miracle not only surviving, but cleanly winning the rest of the fight ... with one eye. Now that, THATS boxing the way Floyd fans think their idol fights. He moved, he fought off the back foot, but was BOXING. For those that don’t know what boxing means, that’s hitting your opponent while not getting hitting yourself. Not barely touching, patting or caressing the guy with your gloves, but actually punching him. Watching it is a thing of beauty. Algieri was moving backwards, sideways, dodging punches but at the same time landing his own punches and managing the tempo of the fight. That’s skills right there. Boxing is not about who gets hurt the worst, but you could see in Provodnikovs face the work Algieri had done during the entire fight, even without Provo’s power.
That’s boxing. Too bad we don’t see more of it these days.
Maidana lost clearly when Floyd fought in the pocket and then he lost cleary when Floyd moved.
Maidana always finds a way to lose.
A born and habitual loser.
That ring wasn't 20 ft.
I didn't watch the fight, so I'll have to see it on Saturday. I take your word for it, since it's pretty easy to tell if a ring is big, medium or small just by the eyeball test.
that ring was not 26 feet, or did they say this at the fight? Any boxing match that happens in nevada is a 20 foot ring, period and that really isn't negotiable from what i know. Maybe it is if the boxers agree to it but i think in nevada it's 20 feet for every fight.
floyd paid for the extra 6 inches
The difference was the ring size... The Provo/Algieri ring was below standard size. I think 18ft. While the May-Maidana ring was a 26ft.
Put May-Maidana in the 18ft ring and you see another great 7-5 either way type fight.

Strong bias. Floyd landed more punches. But Compubox is unreliable. Except that one time Castillo landed more, then it was 100%
That's because each of Floyd's punches computes double.
Because if Floyd punches Maidana, its as if Broner is punching him as well. Maybe that's the logic by which you see Floyd beating up Maidana rather than seeing him run and Kenny keepig Chino away from him like the rest of us saw.:smashfrea
I haven't seen the Mayweather fight yet because I won't pay 70 bucks to watch what I can watch for free in a week. I saw the Algieri fight and while he boxed well he also did some serious running every minute of every round of that fight.
If you think that was running dont even bother with the Mayweather fight. At one point Floyd starts running (I mean running) and Maidana running after him with his arms to his sides as if in a race along that bigass ring. I kid you not it was that stupid.

So you are saying that's what Algeri did vs Provo? Have you really seen that fight? Algeri fought like a semi-contact fighter, and he got hit plenty. And while it was no robbery, I thought Provo should have got the decision.
I have no problem with Manny choosing Algeri as he was his only realistic option, but let's not big Algeri up or pretend it's a great fight. If Manny is not shot, he should beat Algeri easily.
It funny you say that because floyed threw more punches and landed more punches even power punches ......what do you got to say about that?
I was going for maidana by the way
Chino just a one dimensional fight and Floyd made him look like the c class fighter he is
