UFC 92 will not have over one million PPV buys, or anything close. If Lesnar/Couture was on this card? I'd say it would push about 1.5 million PPV buys. But without those huge names, they will be lucky to get 500k.
I'm a huge fan of Nog and Wand, and they're by far the two most accomplished fighters in the UFC today along with Liddell, but they aren't big names in the U.S..
i dunno why white folks get so mad about this.... their the ones who own everything
1. I don't own shit.
2. Neither does anyone else I know.
Would you like a millionaire white guy saying, "I'd never work with those monkeys!"? Or a top white boxer saying, "I'd never lose to a black ghetto boy!"?
I doubt you would.
The average white guy is no different than the average black guy. We all have the same goals and aspirations.
Putting boxing back on free TV would defintely revive the sport, no doubt about it. People still like boxing, the whole thing just needs to be promoted better to the mainstream audience.
By the way, Versus isn't exactly free TV, you need a satellite dish to get the channel... but a channel like Versus is headed in the right direction. If we can just get good cards on regular network TV the entire sport would rise from the dead again.
It's a normal channel where I live.
Stop comparing the sports, period. You don't see people going, "LOL Football is more popular than baseball!", because they both throw balls. People understand the differences in the two sports.
Bisping would completely tool him standing, without question. The angles and rules are too different to just transition into the sport. Just like Bisping couldn't transition into boxing and beat him.
People (Enzo for MMA, Anderson Silva for boxing) need to stop thinking they can just transition from one sport to the other and do well.
Incorrect.
People need to stop comparing completely different sports. It's like comparing Water Polo and Soccer. Both use similar balls and goals, but completely different games.
I personally love both sports, and I hate to see the fans separate themselves. If you truly enjoy one, you can easily enjoy the other -- you just need an open mind. If you can enjoy a beautiful slip counter, you can enjoy a beautiful arm drag to the back or leg lock.
Boxing is an underrated skill in MMA. But it's not due to people not having the potential, it's due to having to incorporate it in with everything else. It's a lot harder to convert a more-limited offensive style like Boxing (Not an insult). It's much easier to convert Kickboxing, Muay Thai, etc...
You'll eventually see more people like Marcus Davis, but even better. You have guys like Rashad Evans, who is mainly a wrestler, starting to incorporate a lot of boxing training into their style and having it turn out amazingly. Is he a good boxer by any means? Not yet. But he has extremely fast hands, power, and the work ethic.
