This is one hell of a lineup they have on this card.
It’s the ultimate event of the year with the original Ultimate Fighter®, Forrest Griffin defending his title against “Sugar” Rashad Evans. Then the Ultimate Fighter® coaches face off as Interim World Heavyweight Champion, Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira takes on former heavyweight champion, Frank Mir. Plus, two of the hardest hitting light heavyweights go toe-to-toe when Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva battles former light heavyweight champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.
UFC 92: The Ultimate 2008 – Saturday, December 27, live on Pay-Per-View from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
UFC 92 will not have over one million PPV buys, or anything close. If Lesnar/Couture was on this card? I'd say it would push about 1.5 million PPV buys. But without those huge names, they will be lucky to get 500k.
I'm a huge fan of Nog and Wand, and they're by far the two most accomplished fighters in the UFC today along with Liddell, but they aren't big names in the U.S..
Take K1 per say, every single year the best fight the best... The whole year is a giant tournament and in the end you KNOW who is the best. There is no ducking, no promotional stunts. "Oh you don't want to fight him? Fine, drop out of the grand prix and be forgotten." Boxing should be made like this... For each weight class a giant tournament with quarters, semis and finals like in K1. There is no controversy in K1, if you visit some K1 forums you rarely find "x would beat x" and no ducking posts at all because their either qualify or they don't!
How i WISH boxing were run like this. As a matter of fact, i think every sport in the world is basically run like this (elimination style tournament) with the exception of boxing.
I argee that it is an amazing card, i am looking forward to it.
I just dont think it'll pass 1.25 million and am willing to put to
my points where my mouth is.
I'll wait to what kind of promotional effort they put behind it before saying they'll get a mill.
I think it's time for you to officially announce you're move to the MMA threads. I care about what boxers get paid. Of course an MMA fan should care about what they're favorite fighters get paid. Fighters in general put they're lives on the line to entertain the fans. You would have to be a very cold hearted person if you did'nt care at all. Why don't Dana just get bums off the street he would'nt have to pay them at all. LOL
You should become a financial advisor then, if you care so much about other peoples finances. Listen, i wish every proffesional fighter in the world made millions and millions of dollars, but that isnt the case, nor should it be my concern.
UFC 92's card would be the equivalent of say:
Hatton vs Pac
Cotto vs Marg rematch
Haye vs Wlad
All on the same card!

How about paying millions to boxers who have never proved themselves to see them fight on paper mismatches in the hopes they are exposed, paying 55 dollars for one, on paper, mismatch and a couple of bad fights? Who would pay that price when you can pay the normal ppv price for 3 main event types of fights and be entertained for sure!? Hell if i wasn't a mma fan already i'd surely force myself to be one! All my fighting money is going to them, not to the corruption mob which boxing is. I still watch boxing on Sopcast but it would take like 2 years full of good decent matchups to make me a fan again. The problem is that inferior fighters know they don't stand a chance vs good competition and they avoid it. The real problem is fighters having a choice really. There are many orgs and many fighters and boxing is all over the place. It should only be possible to achieve success in boxing by beating the best in their primes, this is not the case, there are many roots to "success".
I'd say it wont, ufc had a great year but their three big buys
were lesnar events.
I am willing to bet measly 1500 points that it wont get
more than pacman-de la hoya, if any one wants?

Wrong thread man. Why you talking about those UFC fags. Why not compare WWE or an Elton John concert. You clowns are all traders.
Would a fan of hip hop music be considered a trader if he were to also listen to Jazz or alternative music? Stop being an ingnorant fool.
I laugh when i see anti mma guys try and bash mma by saying things like: "well they can afford to put on a show like that because they dont pay thier fighters shit"
Ok, my question is: Why on gods earth should u as a fan/spectator care what they pay thier fighters? Would u rather them put on a crappy card and pay thier fighters more? LOL.
I think there are also 4 undercard matchups in addition to the 3 main event fights.
Two, possibly three.
Evans/Griffin
Mir/Nog
Silva/Jackson 3
Okami/Lister
Dalloway/Massenzio
Swing:
Kongo/Al Turk
Chonen/Blackburn
I wouldn't bet but me personally i'd take the UFC 92 card 50000348x times over the Pacquiao-Oscar one any day

i will bet 15K that it doesnt!
naw i take it back lol not because i think that it will but because there really is no "official" word on what DLH/Pac did in PPV sales. i know its probably promoter BS talk but arum said it did better than initial indications or somethin like that so who knows...
Im willing to put 50k on the line and say that this surpasses Pac/Oscar in ppv sales. Who wants the bet?
