I'am not saying white people didn't enslave Africans and profit on their misery. I think above all Hopkins should be thankful for the sport of boxing. He tries to act like he is a better man because he came from prison and made his life better. If it were not for boxing he would still be in a prison somewhere. It irritates me because I start to like hopkins until I hear him talk. Watching the Pavlik fight I was excited for Hopkins he accomplished a lot. Then afterwards he walked over to Pavlik and what started out good as a talk to tell him to keep his head up. He had to be a dipshit again and bring race into it. Was it really needed? I dont think Pavlik needed to "fight like a black person" to beat the black fighters he has in the past. You guys can argue it all you want, but from the way Hopkins talks you can tell he thinks white people are inferior when it comes to fighting. I dont think he was being condescending when he said to Pavlik that he should fight like a black fighter. When one thinks of great black fighters from the past, guys like Ali, Robinson, Leonard, Whitaker, spring to mind. All these fighters showed tremendous lateral movement during their careers, something that Pavlik distinctly lacked when he fought Hopkins.
