He admits it around past the 30 minute mark.
I think that you're using the wrong word here. To say he admits to something is to say that he confesses something or is acknowledging a truth. So, this is only his opinion on the matter. You can't admit to something that you did not do. In this case he is not the one allegedly ducking someone else. If he had come out and said I admit to ducking XYZ then the word makes sense.
Didn't Berto and Peterson get caught by VADA? How many times has Pac been tested by VADA? I've got no problem with VADA testing or USADA testing. They are both better than the standard commission testing. Like I said, maybe USADA hasn't caught anyone because they tested clean fighters. Is that hard to understand?
It was a simple question. No need to answer me with another question. And a stupid one at that.
You are exactly right. Berto and Peterson tested positive on VADA protocol. Manny has only been tested with the weak commission stuff. Now, I'm not saying that he is juicing but the sport needs to test year round. VADA and USADA are better than the "standard" commission testing but still can be beat.
Hagler did this too. He fought better as a southpaw and his best punch was the right hook. He wasn't a true switch hitter but he could fight out of both stances.
There have been a few successful at converting their stance but in De La Hoya's case he never really became a two handed fighter. His money shots were the jab and left hook.
I see what you're saying. Kind of like how Cotto tried to bring him in to check the gloves in New York. Not a bad idea. Naazim seems to be one of those picky guys that can get under a guys skin in tense situations like that. Throw him off a bit.
The trend of 2012. It is really getting frustrating that all these good bouts are being cancelled/post-poned. We should have had some sweet fights this year already. Too bad
I think Cotto is all around a better (and more experienced) fighter. He would outbox Khan and outslug him. Khan does have the tendancy to try to go toe to toe and when that doesn't go his way he retreats. When Khan is fighting going backwards his punches aren't effective and he can't keep guys off of him. I see this fight as a pro (Cotto) against a seasoned amateur (Khan).
The mans like 5'6 he can't get any bigger he's not a great ww why the hell would he fight cotto he would be at every disadvantage possible lack of speed power only thing he'd have is stamina and that's not sure he's never carried 154 on fight night plus cotto will be pushing pulling and laying on Bradley all night
He'll drain him into a lopsided ud or a tko
Totally agree with this. Cotto would be too much for Bradley. Honestly, Bradley has never impressed me. It looks like his optimum weight is 140 anyways. Cotto looks comfortable fighting at 154.
Whitaker is the better boxer for sure. Manny has more belts but nowadays that doesn't carry much weight. With proper match making any decent fighter can obtain championship status and probably make a few defenses.
When I see Pernell in his prime the dude was a boxing phenom. The way he would make guys miss while standing right in front of them is epic. Even a young fast De La Hoya couldn't land on that man. He schooled Chavez. The man won rounds with his defense. Now that's something that Manny couldn't do. And his offense is probably underrated, he had good body shots and great variation in his arsenal. Maybe that style of fighting is not appealing to some but the level of his craft was simply amazing. The guy never looked uncomfortable in the ring (don't include the Trinidad fight) and had incredible stamina.
Manny is good, not great. Though he has good speed and has some pop in his shots his boxing ability is lacking. Also he fails at making adjustments in the ring. I see Manny as guy that can follow a gameplan but relies on Roach to make adjustments for him. I think a lot of his wins are because of his physical advantages specifically his speed advantage.
manny is more popular than pea to casual fans, no doubt.
manny is also better in being universally known.
however, manny has never and will never hope to be 75% of the p4p fighter that pea was. what a silly poll
I think you summed it up really well right there. Sweet Pea is an all time great fighter but Manny is probably the best promoted.
I voted the end of the feud would make me happy. I am an American but I like fighters based 100% on the fighter and what he is like in and out of the ring. A fighter being an American does not make me like them any more or any less. Wlad is a good champion and fights all comers. As long as he is good enough to continue to fight and beat the best I say more power to him.
Totally agree!
Its not Mannys fault that gayweather is scared to face him.
Boxing does not revolve around Pacquiao. This thread was not about Pacquiao so respect the thread and stay on topic.
Used to be a big ODH fan. Followed him from Olympics to his last fight vs Manny. Only rooted against him once and that was against Tito Trinidad. Now as a promoter he's turned into a self serving douche bag IMO. I know that's harsh but he talked so much trash about wanting to clean up the sport and being a promoter that puts fans and fighters first. All he has become is Top Rank 2.0
Conversely, I HATED Lennox Lewis. Awful, boring, is he British? Jamaican? Canadian? Make up your damn mind! Now as a commentator and contributer to the sport I love the guy. I you tube his fights and he was a beast at times.
Should've enjoyed him when we was active.
I was on my way to disliking Chavez Sr after loving his career. Hate him as a commentator as I feel he is a homer when it comes to covering Mexican boxers but he has sort of redeemed himself in my eyes seeing as he was honest when assessing Jr's loss to Sergio. I was also impressed with the kind words he had for Camacho. It would have been easy to pile on seeing as Camacho had his demons but Chavez showed class.
I completely agree with the Oscar De La Hoya comment. I was a huge fan growing up but as a promoter I just can't listen to the guy. Full of cliches and sounds like a broken record at times.
When I used to not care what I ate I weighed about 187-192 but now that I am not overeating I keep my weight around 170. I would fight at 168 so that I wouldn't have to cut any weight. I am 5'10".
I think it's close. Both are definitely hall of famers, but I think Cotto would get the nod. Not to say Cotto is much better but he was promoted better than JMM and I think that would influence voting. There is more coverage in the higher ranks where Cotto made a name for himself at 147. JMM made a name for himself at 126, 130. It's a toss up
I think his power will carry well to that weight but his style suits him well where he is now. The guys at 154 will be his size or bigger but also more skilled. For instance, if Sergio Martinez were to fight him at 154 I think Sergio would be too much. I know some will say that's an exception but at the moment Ortiz is near the top of the division for 147 and probably would try to establish himself in a similar if not higher position at 154. Guys like Lara would be too slick.
If he can improve his boxing skills and not just rely on conditioning then he could make it there.....and also get his head straight
PBF and Manny would have been on their 3rd fight if he did.
Haha so true! Hopefully future stars of the sport learn this when they're in a similar position. It would be better for the fans. Then there wouldn't be all this nonsense about who is ducking who.
That whole situation with Manny's guarantees is pretty fishy. I wonder why Bob Arum can't be more transparent about the contracts. If he's making 26 mill then report that number. Why report 6?
Manny should just promote himself. He would be much better off.
neither are ducking the other but Floyd is trying to boss Mannys ass cause he knows this fight will do HUGE numbers fight should be 50/50
Totally agreed. I still think the fight should be 50-50. Both sides have done so much promoting for this fight (even though it may not all have been on purpose). Every fight they basically promote each others fight. The fight is a HUGE ppv! They both would make a great payday. I just hope we don't get another Hopkins-Jones Jr scenario
Lmbo at u gullible idiots out there!! Pacq wouldnt have signed a contract for that amount! Or that close of a split w bradley!! Lmbo... You idiots know this just as well as the rest of us... Always falling for unreliable sources... And two ... All this rant and raving for pacq degrading and hating on homos... When we all know just aswell that the dude doesnt even ever say anything personally bad about the opponents he faces.. Even with all the trash that marg rios and mayw spout out! He has yet to say anything pesonally bad about any of them.. Use some common sense and sound judgement, and not your emotions !! :nonono:
Well just cause something negative is said about Pacquiao does not mean the person is a homo or a Mayweather supporter. But it does raise questiongs regarding Pacquiao's fight contract. In an industry where lots of retired athletes end up broke it is something that Pacquiao should be concerned with.
I've never took a side one way or another with either camp. Just a boxing fan getting frustrated with the delay of a potentially good fight.
Totally agreed. I still think the fight should be 50-50. Both sides have done so much promoting for this fight (even though it may not all have been on purpose).
