This is an ESPN FNF/Chavez undercard level fight. Even DeMarco was a better idea because at least he has a name...If Dulorme isn't an option then they should wait for Allakhverdiev/Vargas.
Martinez, Berto (although they'd likely go to a trilogy if he beat Ortiz) or Miguel Cotto. Nobody else is ready. If Kirkland avenged the Ishida loss and gets a title, he and Floyd would be a great fight down the line though.
People forget how hard Marquez trained for the Mayeeather fight. Dude was lifting huge rocks on a mountain! He was in good shape. Just look at the weigh in pics.
Gamboa hasn't even made his 130lb debut. He could still pull it off, but he's at a HUGE disadvantage. I mean he did struggle against Salido. I'd rather see Ortiz and Berto go at it again.
I have a problem with it too. Gamboa hasn't even made his Super Featherweight debut yet. Sure he's fought there before, but now he's starting to grow into it. He needs time. He struggled against Salido and couldn't hurt Ponce De Leon. There's a big chance he'll get walked down and bullied. Rios has a good chin. This would be a better fight in late 2012 if Rios hasn't moved up by then.
There's so many variables here with this division, that's why I love it.
Throw Vanes in with the margarito-Cotto winner.
There's so much smoke at 154 that needs to settle. All roads lead to Martinez at 154. Once everything's figured out there, the winner can fight Mayweather.
What's the skinny guy's name that fights at 154? He's always on ESPN?
Demetrius Andrade? Hes still pretty green. He needs to step up the competition before he fights any of the top guys. He has a great jab though.
As for this fight, I'd favor Canelo to outwork him in a close fight. I need to see a little more from Lara against top guys. He doesn't seem to like pressure very much.
Broner. Both are equally skilled, but he has better power and can probably last a few divisions higher. Russell Jr on the other hand is tiny as f*ck and he doesn't have that Manny Pacquiao-like power to make up for his size.
HORRIBLE fight. I understand he wants to prepare for a Williams rematch against a tall guy, but Hearns doesn't even fight like Williams. In fact, he fights how Williams SHOULD be fighting. He actually knows how to fight tall and takes advantage of his long jab. But too bad he's a complete tomato can so fighting tall won't get him very far.
I mean even Kermit Cintron would have been a better choice...
I'd like to see him and Marquez go at it. That would be awesome. And if Bradley won, Pacquiao-Bradley would be acceptable. And of course there's still Khan.
Brook maybe, I know he's always wanted to fight in the UK. Garcia has to get it on with the Matthysse-Peterson winner, so I doubt he'll fight any of them, he hasn't even mentioned them as possible opponents.
As for Canelo, I get the feeling GBP is gonna attempt to recreate the same hype Mayweather-Pacquiao once had, jus' a hunch.
My thoughts exactly.
I had Judah winning a close fight. He did enough in the early rounds and even came back to steal a round after being hurt badly. A very underrated victory.
The Alexander fight on the other hand was a different story. It reminds me of Ortiz-Peterson in a sense, because with 2 more rounds Devon would have been sleeping.
One thing's for sure. Canelo would fight his ass off for as long as the bout lasts. Not very likely to happen though. Cotto and Floyd make more sense and are much more winnable fights than Martinez. Floyd would likely outbox him, but Martinez would outbox him, beat him down then knock him out cold.
I knew it. There was literally no other acceptable opponents aside from the Ghost and Canelo. By May 2015 someone amongst Garcia, Laexander, Khan, Matthysse and Brook will be ready, but right now this is what needs to happen.
I got Mayweather by a comfortable decision with some scary moments.
I like Peterson a lot. Great guy, huge heart, friendly style. But he needs to lose so Matthysse can get a chance to KO Zab in a rematch/unification after he destroys Garcia. Even its a bull**** decision he doesn't deserve I don't care this time lol not very likely though.
Pretty much every shot Lebedev hit Guillermo Jones with during their fight. That was unreal, and was the difference in the fight, aside from the football on the side of Lebedev's poor face, of course.
Also, as mentioned already, the shot Berto caught Ortiz with in round 6. What made it even greater is that he responded with a "b**ch please" knockdown seconds later.
Rios did NOT call Margarito a punching bag. He's not that stupid. He was asked how he felt about Manny saying he'll dominate him and it'll be just like his fight with Tony, and Rios responded by saying every probably thinks that, he doesn't care, and he's not a punching bag. It sounded like more of a response to his critics than anything.
