so basically it's like what the IBF does?
Chavez will have to vacate.
It's a little different to the IBF weigh-in because the IBF permit only a predetermined weight of 10 lbs over the specific weight division on the day of the fight, regardless of the division. I prefer that rule personally. So a welterweight on IBF can come in at 157lb maximum, whereas a welterweight on WBC can come in at 161.7lbs.
The WBC rule is done via percentages so it actually means that the higher your weight, the more pounds you can gain. Via WBC, on the day of the fight a Welterweight is permitted to gain 14.7lbs, whereas a Cruiserweight can gain 20lbs.
No need for a fighter to have to make weight twice. It is all water at that point, and the fighters should be allowed to rehydrate as much as they need to/can.
Either have one weigh-in the day of, or have it the night before. Not both.
This isn't going to stop fighters from cutting obscene amounts of weight. It's just going to allow the WBC to issue more fines.
Sulaiman did address the issue of fines but he alleges that any fines levied against any particular boxer would be given, in their entirety, to the opponent.
His head's going to get him into trouble when he fights away from home I feel, but that won't be for a while yet. He does have a big home advantage in the Super 6, so realistically he has the easiest route out of all 6 boxers based on that alone. It's a difficult one to judge but there's no denying he's an excellent boxer and he might be considered the best in the sport one day, or p4p top 3. But at this point in time I could say the same for a number of other boxers I guess.
Horrendous list of options :lol1:
I might do a secondary poll, which will serve as an extension to the original, so reply with the names of all the boxers who you think should be included.. that goes to everyone who chose OTHER..
I am going with Yuriorkis Gamboa. He reminds me a lot of Tokumbo Olajide who I thought might end up there until he faced that unknown Colombian and got detroyed.
True, Gamboa is a good possibility, I should have added him in the poll.
Eh, probably Andre Ward. I can't believe Guillermo was included on the list.
Williams, Gamboa and Lopez should be in the poll.
My bad, it was kinda quickly put together and the 10 option limit doesn't help.
clearly an accident, he was already highly off balance when he took that 2nd step, he was even leaning a bit forward before fully taking that 2nd step. honestly Paul ain't little if he swings you like that you gonna move and possibly lose balance, it clearly happened to Kermit. you know whats funny, Paul Williams Adviser Al Haymon is in HBO's back pocket, this fight ends and lets say Kermit won, do you think they will be saying that HBO wont buy the rematch? NOPE they would sell that shit but since he won and had a hard time doing his adviser doesn't support a rematch and HBO doesn't buy the event, these men aren't stupid they making him out to be like the next Tommy Hearns you really think they want to risk losing the spot light on Williams over Cintron? Williams just says "yes" to everything his people tell him so I don't expect him to know anything nor do I suspect him of any foul play but his people? they some slick match making motherf*ckers..
was it an accident? my answer is yes, that's my opinion so ima stick with that but I also think it's bullshit that Kermit boxes his socks off for 3 rounds they give the majority of to Williams when he wasn't nearly as damaging to his opponent and then rejects talks of a rematch like nobody knows who and what Al Haymon is to HBO. the rematch of this fight made more sense then the first fight ever happening in the beginning because he we saw Cintron take a shitty loss after a awesome performance and is being denied a rematch and to me that is foul especially when Kermit said he would do it at 154 or even 147 which is something no one else will want to do and that's face him at 147
The decision in favor of Williams is highly debatable imo. There is a strong case for Cintron being ahead in the fight at that point. Whether he would have won the fight if it had continued as normal is again a debatable issue because Williams appeared to be pressing the action in the 4th, although Cintron also landed some excellent counters. It's a shame it didn't continue man, it was just getting interesting.
I agree the ring exit appears most likely to be entirely accidental, what about the aftermath? Do you think Cintron was genuinely injured, stunned or winded? Or, you think he was over-dramatizing the situation?
by watching that round. how can anyone give that round to Paul William. He didnt landed anything in that round.
The 4th? I thought he landed some good shots in that round. It seemed to me as if he was beginning to open up.
I'd give Khan a better chance over Bradley than Alexander at this stage, and I think Alexander beats Bradley. IMO Alexander could be the best in the division but time will tell. This fight against Paulie should help clarify further Khan's status at 140, depending on how it plays out I guess.
Woah, I never seen it from that angle. Just watched this video; actually Cintron's head didn't hit anything. There is no way he could have possibly gotten hurt from that.
It's an interesting angle I think, the first thought I had from watching the clip is that the real-time event happened so fast that Cintron wouldn't have had the time to mastermind a dive out the ring. From the new angle, it seems as if Cintron expected to rebound off the ropes but the rope his shoulder should have caught, instead flicked upwards and created the space for him to fall out the ring. It seemed to happen too quickly and was too unpredictable for Cintron to anticipate or plan.
Whether he exaggerated the severity of his injuries is still a tough call imo. He has a history of unusual behavior in the ring which doesn't help his case. But, assuming the fall was unplanned, it's still a genuine possibility that he could've been momentarily injured or stunned.
Zab Judah...
Zab Judah would work if he could make the weight. The problem is he hasn't fought at 140 since 2003 so he could end up weight drained but it'll probably be much easier for him than Berto who never fought as low as 140, his first pro fight was at middleweight I believe.
I don’t know if it’s ducking or posturing, but one thing’s for sure they don’t want to fight each other, although I think Devon is willing to fight anyone...
Bradley vs Alexander has to happen at some point, it's got all the makings of a classic imo. It could be that they're trying to build up the fights slowly in order to maximize revenue but a tournament should, in theory, solve that problem fairly effectively because of the way it could be marketed and it's inherent time lapsed format. Just like the Super 6, it'll take some time before we eventually reach the final.
Paulie isn't a power puncher but he does throw stingers which can cause bruises or cuts. In the first fight he cut Juan Diaz in the 2nd round. Khan didn't sustain a cut I think, but he did look like he'd been in a fight. Should add to Khan's ring experience, so a good sign imo. The Salita 1st round KO was too quick and comfortable so it didn't really improve Khan's experience level.
Interesting to see that a LW is winning the poll for inclusion in the LWW tourney.
I think it may be because Katsidis would make any match up entertaining due to his style and he has fought at LWW before. The only others who fought within the LW limit were Khan and Ortiz - Ortiz some time ago but Khan just left LW less than a year back. Bradley, Alexander and Maidana never fought at LW though. Maidana actually fought at WW before and Alexander even fought at LMW once I think!
I Dont give a toss about this fight!!! I dont know where people got the "It would be one of the biggest fight in the UK" from?? Fact is Haye has a busy schedule ahead of him, Fact is he called out Wladimir and ridicule him with t-shirts and stuff and now he wants to back away from the fight when the timing is right?
I swear fvxk Haye if he takes this fight, I would rather he fight Arreola than give that fvcking bum Harrison a shot, Valuev still has his rematch clause, Chageav just won an elimiantor to become a mandatory to the WBA so when would Haye get the chance to fight Wlad or Vitali?
I think Haye genuinely wants to fight the Klitschkos but they are obviously among the most high-risk opposition to face. If Haye loses the title to a Klitschko his market value drops and any future fights will be worth less money. Haye plans on retiring very soon, probably within two years or so. The best way to approach it IMO is to have a few more fights at HW to gain more experience, and to get the highest possible earnings while he's a champion, and then face the Klitschko's in about a year.
That's basically what I would do too tbh and as a boxer who is nearly always involved in entertaining fights, I think Haye has earned the right to gain the most income out of what will possibly be the last few years of his career. Of course there's a chance he could beat the Klitschkos, and then arguably he could earn even more that way but that's a very high risk proposition right now, the fights could wait while he earns substantial money elsewhere at a much lower risk.
As of now, were not sure who the phuk khan is fighting yet. Byotches keep pulling outta negotiations. :boxing:
True, it could be a little premature to assume he's fighting Katsidis or Casamayor but Golden Boy are trying to get one of those fights arranged. Either one would make for an entertaining fight against Khan, and both are credible opponents imo.
Katsidis is definitely the best opponent. Followed by Kotelnik and last Abregu.
So: 1. Khan, 2. Alexander, 3. Bradley
I think I'd probably arrange it the same way. It'd be a close call between the opponents of Alexander and Khan. Arguably Abregu has a good KO percentage, but only against lesser opposition. The Bradley fight is at 147 though, which makes things more interesting so I'm looking forward to all 3 fights.
This is what I don't get.
Boxing is a sport. Sports are engendered by ability, entertainment and competition. So as sports fans we absolutely reserve the right to reward people for all three facets I mentioned, and criticise fighters who do not.
This isn't farming or manufacturing.
And I often perceive it in the same way, that boxers should prioritize the sporting element rather than the financial rewards and that those monetary gains may eventually materialize as a natural consequence. But, due to the high level of danger associated with boxing, it does fall into a high risk category separate from most other sports and therefore it's understandable that a participants approach to it would be effected as a result.
I'll go for an early round, I doubt Harrisons hand will be fully healed by fight night. He is going to be a one handed fighter.
True, the hand might not be healed, but then again I'm guessing that the injury isn't too bad because Harrison called out Haye quite publicly, and plus the fight date wouldn't be set (if it did happen) for a number of months down the line which leaves quite a long recovery period. Possibly the hand may be a non-issue by that time but interesting thoughts.
Money. Look at how many fighters throughout history ended up with money problems. Boxing is extremely dangerous and offers no 401k plan.
But as a fan, it doesn't do sh!t for me to see fighters fight low-risk/high-reward fights. I understand it, but I don't like it.
True, it's easy as a fan to under-appreciate the career aspect of boxing but a job is a job and most people would rather earn money with the least amount of risk to their future in reality.
The fat-fart in the video called Haye a ducker. fuk him.
Its unbelievable how people think a guy with 25 fights, 3 at cruiser-weight, is ducking anything.
Reported for weightism!
Just kidding, well I agree that it's unfair to call Haye a ducker considering he's only had 4 fights at HW. I'd like to see Klitschko vs Haye as much as the next man though, but I'd completely understand if Haye accepts some alternative fights at the weight before stepping in with the very best in the division.
Floyd beat the heck out of every lefty hes ever fought.
He beat the majority of boxers he fought quite convincingly but a couple of southpaws gave him a little trouble, as Floyd Sr. describes in the interview.
yeah, this is old news but he still admits it. The problem is that the 3 guys everyone wants to see Floyd fight are Southpaws. He's gotten better with it anyways. I think he kills Pac, Williams, & Sergio if they were righties but them being soutpaw makes them very interesting fights. As long as Floyd doesnt get caught with some BS early, I think he clearly beats Pac & Sergio in a 12 round fight. Williams may be different but only time will tell
All three fights are intriguing, hopefully they'll happen some point soon. The southpaw aspect adds to the interest i think because in Mayweather's rock solid skill set it appears to be a possible weakness in his game so far, in the opinion of his own father too in a roundabout way.
