If your opponent is lunging in with wild power punches, missing with them and falling right into you then of course you are going to hold on to him.Don't mind him there's not a Cuban fighter he likes...
Now can anybody like that?!I say you don't like any of them, not even Gamboa when he was koing fighters left to right, Franco was there to be ko by Fortuna instead he look like a fool, is easy to look spectacular against crap competition but if you step up and look like this, against a guy with 12 fights that hasn't fought in over a year, you not that good, a least not yet...
and here come the lowballers and promoters, Lara should be pay more than those that came before him, why? Because he is a better fighter than all those boxers put together, he is a defensive minded boxer first, yes so what? He didn't invented the style and they are quite a few of them in the hof, man the boxing fans nowadays are idiots, let them fight and make a living at the same time, your fools, one thing about these Cuban fighters, they want the best, they don't fool around and their fans, want the same thing, we don't care if the lose as much as other ppl, we want them to fight the best,
I just think, if the 122 division had grown a pair, Rigondeaux would make believers out some haters here, the op doesn't mention why so many good fighters, ran or are running from the Cuban, and he is old already, agbeko was a throwing punching machine, right before he met GR in the ring, donaire knock Rigondeaux down breaking from a clinch, it showed how green the Cuban really was, amateurs don't hit breaking from the clinch, amagasa had over 20 lbs and way taller, he got him mad and went into deforming the Japanese face, he scared everyone in his weight class, and he is too small and old to move up, he is an amazing fighter that has been put on the black list of boxing, his crime, beat the $h1t out of a potential cash cow, st+ left gbp because fishnet mention a possible fight against the Jackal, mares went north, frampton and quigg just say no, so what do guys want?
If you really think about it, he's practically undefeated, but he's just been given the short end of the stick, especially late in his career with corruption.
Those three loses early in his career shouldn't really count, he was forced into boxing very young.
Santos fight- Robbery
Williams fight -One of the worst robberies of all time
Mosley fight- Mosley was a known steroid cheat and his trainer made up a fake story about Marg's wraps which led to unjust suspension
Pacquiao fight- Pac was a known steroid cheat plus he weight drained Marg like he does all his opponents.
Second Cotto fight- Terrible call stopping the fight. Marg was laughing the whole time while Cotto ran around the ring like a chicken then the corrupt officials stopped the fight to protect that knee-taking pussy.
Because of Pac's cheating his eye is messed up and had to retire early. Had he not gotten robbed and cheated against, he would have been considered one of the best fighters of his generation and could have retired comfortably.. I still think he can kick the crap out of Cotto for the rubber match if the fight is in Mexico where they are fair and unbiased.is that you hands of plaster? is really antonio...
Ortiz is something like 25-0 with 22 KO's.
He fought nothing but tomato cans so far. When he was 18-0 he fought a guy making his pro debut.
Jennings is his toughest test to date, and Jennings is waaaaay better than anyone Ortiz fought.
At least fight and Eddie Chambers or Cunningham to take a step up.
I looked at Ortiz boxrec and I understood why a year ago Ortiz was ranked around #50, then he made a jump to the top ten off nothing but his record - which was against ham and eggers.Just tell me who in nowadays boxing doesn't have a bunch of tomatoes cans in their resume? The guy is been avoided but the top dogs in his division, any Cuban with a little of an amateur pedigree is avoided, plain and simple, they just bring the "high risk low reward" quote...
I think he could very easily beat Wade and Rosado because they aren't in his class at all skill wise. He might get a KO over them if he tried for a KO. Brook would be a harder fight but he should clearly beat him. Monroe would give him a very hard fight but he should win a close one. I think Lemieux has a very good chance to win by KO. Lara doesn't have a great chin. He doesn't have a weak chin but it's not that strong either. Lemieux hits very hard and very fast with both hands and he never stops throwing bombs. I think at some time in a 12 round fight he would hit Lara with the right punch or combination of punches to hurt him and finish him off. If the fight goes the distance Lara would probably win on points. I favor Lemieux by KO.Did you know he took shots from Williams and he was outweighed by a least 20 pounds, when he fought angulo, he went down but I never saw him hurt, and he really got caught, actually every time he went down he came back and put a hurt on perro until he make him quit, never see him hurt, not in the pro not in the amateurs...
Somehow GGG has been ducking a 154 pounder who won't even make a name for himself in his own division and only seems to talk about GGG when GGG has a fight lined up.That is a lie, he is been calling him for a few years now, before and after fights...
Great fight.
I kinda see it going the same way Crawford and Gamboa went. Rigo might pull ahead with his tricky style, but as the fight goes on Loma will start catching Rigo with those nasty bodyshots.
Loma by late TKO
Also: Gamboa is not nearly as skilled as Gamboa from a technique standpoint. He's definitely more physically gifted though.
People who said that Crawford won just based on his size are delusional. Once he addapted he started to put on a boxing clynic with his right jab, counters and well placed bodyshots.Once Gamboa started to fade Crawford took over, still he almost got ktfo in the same round he won, only his size help him survive...
Lara is not trying to fight GGG, he is just using his name for the free media attention. He is not as stupid as his fans and knows very well that he cannot fight on HBO.
If Floyd was to fight Lara, it should be on PPV and promoted as a cure for insomnia. A fight guaranteed to put even the most hyper of individuals to sleep almost immediately. They could package the video and sell it in pharmacies as a sleep aid.he is not using his name, he is been trying to fight him for the past 2 or 3 years, fighting Lara will be ggg first real test...
How much was Mikey Garcia suppose to get for that fight? I don't remember the details but I do remember he was suppose to fight Gamboa. About 1.2-1.5M was the last offer...
Its not about that. When Crawford went southpaw that distance Gamboa had to cover to land his right hand increased and crawford could pick him apart when he started to jump inhe was done after the four round, he is a midget and doesn't have a World class trainer, the size difference was to big to overcome and he was fighting a very good and young champion, the shots that Gamboa landed in that last round would have decapitate a FW/JLW even a true LW, but the guy was over JWW limit maybe he was a WW...
I don't understand the reluctance of some fans about a fair fight, floy, pac, ginger, even ggg is asking for a catch weight against ward, ray leonard fought lolande for the 168 belt at a catch weight, Rigodeaux is a midget that will wright 126-127 the night of the fight, why not weight the same night of the fight like the used to do and still doing in the amateurs?
we can see things in a round of sparring.
it's tough to "tell" anything about a fighter from a single round of sparring. he may have been trying to work on countering right hands, for example. he'd be getting close and trying to get his guy to throw the right hand.
i do think rigondeaux looked a bit aged agaisnt the japanese fella.
after 400 amateur fights, a tiny little dude like that is going to be on the physical downslide in his 30's. it's just he way it is.
rigondeaux may also be older than he says he is. lots of the best cuban baseball players are a heck of a lot older than they report, for example. it raises their stock in their youth to appear to be talented beyond their years. That happened with El Duque Hernandez and Contreras, after that the Cuban government started to release the real age of deserting players, so they couldn't get the 'big" money, you can trace back Rigondeaux age and it is the real one, what I think is that he needs motivation, that is all...
Point was Lara was not really serious about it. Last time I checked, Lara's manager, agent, whatever, no longer talks about the fight. Seems he's aware that he's been called out for doing nothing and his bullsh1t. Instead, he's talking about network issues, HBO, etc. So he knew the problem, yet Lara/de Cubas are so bold in dropping Golovkin's name. You can't take these people seriously. You have to be a special kid, the one that needs to use a helmet all the time, Lara if you are following this saga is being calling ggg for the past 2 and a half years or so, if sanchez say no what does he supposed to do? keep calling ggg even though they are not going to fight him, ggg is a good fighter that needs a challenge to cement his place, but his trainer and fans want him to keep fighting the monroes of the world, gtfoh...
Your hate for Canelo is really over the top. You start almost daily hate threads about Canelo and what a beating Cotto is going to give him. Canelo is a nice friendly guy. He is respectful to everybody and never trash talks other fighters. He fights clean and his fights are exciting. Why do you hate him so much? You seem to go out of your way to find something bad someone said about Canelo so you can use it to start another Canelo hate thread. Anybody who says Canelo is not a hard punching 154 pounder doesn't know what they are talking about. He KOed Angulo who was a big 154 pounder who moved to 160 his next fight. He KOed Rhodes who was ranked 4th at 154 by Ring at the time. He knocked out the iron chinned Baldomir with one punch. He knocked Trout down while Cotto never even hurt Trout. So that's at least 4 154 pounders he knocked out making Hunter full of sh*t. Why don't you go bet a bundle on Cotto and make yourself a fortune. Those know nothing odds makers who handicap fighters for a living think Canelo hits hard enough to make him a solid 2 to 1 favorite to beat Cotto.ginger is a bully, ask little solis about how nice and respectful he is... Saying that, he is a good fighter with a big promotional machine behind him and a little bit of luck...
Neither. Floyd seems like he just doesn't want to fight at 154 ever again and GGG would destroy Lara easily and get no credit for it. Plus, Haymon wouldn't allow it despite what Lara and his manager (who has no authority over Haymon to make decisions) say. That quote is BS, Lara would be the biggest name and the best boxer ggg would fight if his ppl grow a pair, even though I agreed with the fraud statement...
I think Cotto wins a close one, Lara always under-performs when the lights are the brightest.Underperform? he did once against ginger, Williams, perro, hernandez, hearns, rodriguez, trout, smith, all have been schooling with some thrilling fights in there...
Manny can fight at WW because he's that good, he isn't a natural 147 pounder which is what we're talking about here. They go into areas that are not "natural" to their body. Rigo should move up and prove how good he is instead of just talking about it. I say the same sh*t to GGG. No one at 168 wants to fight GGG? Beating at bum at 168 is better than a 160 bum, thus you'd get more credit.you are a moron, weight classes are made for that, you fight at you weight class, manny has to take some serious $h1t to "grown" into a ww and always asked for a catch weight, Rigondeuax is 34 going to 35 and has grow all he could, actually he only weight 2 or 3 pounds max the night of the fight, he is being fighting bigger fighters his entire professional career and that's why I call you a moron, because you haven't notice that, now you want him to give up more weight advantage to much bigger fighters while he have some great opponents in his own weight class, this is not a circus it is a professional sport with weight divisions, your football analogy is bs, in a league you are going to face bad teams and good teams just like in any other sport, but you can't choose the team you want to face,
That is exactly what i am sayingWhy? He is a belt holder already and has paid his due, I have seen belt holders go straight up to the next division without any complains...
Lara has lost every meaningful fight at light middleweight and been hurt by several smaller, lighter punchers than GGG. What do you think happens to him at mw against a guy like Golovkin?Lara has being drop by angulo, that is it, and twice came back and put a hurt on the Mexican, yes he was dropped but was not hurt, you don't get hurt by a punch and do what he did right after the knock downs... people complaining ggg is being ducked and now a guy is stepping to the plate and he is too small, or he is already ko, stfo...
Commentary teams in boxing are cheerleaders generally.
I don't like him, but Malignaggi is the only one who calls it down the middle, but even he has his biases at times too.you are right, that is how they get pay...
