This is win win for Haymon if he can get Rigo. First if Santa Cruz can get past Mares then this sets up a huge fight between the two. Second if Santa Cruz loses he will have something to fall back on(Rigo) and still be able to make a huge fight(Rigo-Mares).
This is not going to happen.
Hope this means we're gearing up for Mares vs Rigo after Mares destroys LSC.
Remember Mares wanted to fight Rigo a few years back during the cold war when Mares was with GBP and Rigo was tied to Top Rank.
Mares has said he doesn't care if he loses, he wants to fight the best.
why does it matter whos managing him, and how many fighters hanymon manages? how does this affect u? he was thrown under the bus by he previous promoter for winning a fight, al haymon will at least get this guy in the ring u boxing fans are wierd
You havent seen the story about his manager, his a dickhead. Google around to find it, his contract is all ****ed up.

anyone else heard of this/has some other sources?
Hes been trying to sign with Haymond for a while now. His manager contract is totally ****ed up as well. THere was some big story about it. It auto renews him all the time or some stupid ****. He has to get out of both promoter and manager contracts. He signed up with some dickhead out of Miami when he first got here. Both Arum and the other guy are trying to **** him over.
I hope he doesn't do that. Haymon already manages over 200 boxers. Isn't that enough? When does it stop? When he manages 1000 boxers? Maybe I should say he advises over 200 boxers but I am not sure what the difference is. I hear boxers say I'll fight whoever Haymon lines up for me. That sure sounds like a manager who is calling the shots..

bout time rigo deserves good fights and to be with someone who wont throw him under he bus for beating his money man. This is great news for me as i love watching him fight
man so much truth! That was fked up man!
Manny can fight at WW because he's that good, he isn't a natural 147 pounder which is what we're talking about here. They go into areas that are not "natural" to their body. Rigo should move up and prove how good he is instead of just talking about it. I say the same sh*t to GGG. No one at 168 wants to fight GGG? Beating at bum at 168 is better than a 160 bum, thus you'd get more credit.you are a moron, weight classes are made for that, you fight at you weight class, manny has to take some serious $h1t to "grown" into a ww and always asked for a catch weight, Rigondeuax is 34 going to 35 and has grow all he could, actually he only weight 2 or 3 pounds max the night of the fight, he is being fighting bigger fighters his entire professional career and that's why I call you a moron, because you haven't notice that, now you want him to give up more weight advantage to much bigger fighters while he have some great opponents in his own weight class, this is not a circus it is a professional sport with weight divisions, your football analogy is bs, in a league you are going to face bad teams and good teams just like in any other sport, but you can't choose the team you want to face,
I hope he doesn't do that. Haymon already manages over 200 boxers. Isn't that enough? When does it stop? When he manages 1000 boxers? A 40 years old Rigondeaux beats anyone at 126 or lower right now. Lomachenko ducked Walters because he says Walters can't make 126 anymore, but he won't fight Rigo at that weight. All the talk about Lomachenko fighting anyone is bull****.
He bit off more than he could handle with Salido and now he's scared of everyone.
Well did Walters make weight? Believe me Loma vs Walters will happen, the only difference now is that it won't happen next. But we can bet the fight will happen. Wait when did Lomachenko say he'll fight anyone above 126? He's going step by step, right now he's seeing who he can fight at 126. As far as I know Walters is not a 126 anymore, is he? If he is then why didn't he make weight? If he could still make weight, then he should try to get a fight ASAP and prove it instead of making assumptions. Like I said, the fight will happen, not just next like it was originally intended too and it's not Loma's fault. He's not the one that missed weight. If Walters made weight and Loma still refused to fight him then I'll probably agree. If Walters made weight we wouldn't be having this conversation in the first place, now would we? So stop with your bullsh*t and false info.
Rigo fans sound so confident that he would beat the crap out of anyone from 126 and below. Shoot, I heard some even say he'll beat anyone south of 140 but you guys expect these guys to come down for him hahaha.
If he has no intentions of moving up then his team and fans should stop talking crap about guys above him. Then you have people blaming the guys above him, saying they are ducking him when they don't have to move down to please Rigo.
You dang troll :fing26:
Frampton-Santa Cruz-Rigo-Mares and then throw in the likes of Cuellar and Russell jr.
Very good fights to be made there from 122-126
none of that is likely to happen.
Frampton will have his fight in TX, and then hopefully finally have his fight with Scott Quigg in the UK at 122; after that fight, basically win or lose, Frampton is going to 126. While that process is going on, Mares-Santa Cruz, at 126, happens at the end of August, with eyes towards the Winter for the following fights, win or lose.
Come 2016, PBC would logically have, at 126, Mares, Santa Cruz, wba champion Cuellar, WBC champion Russell Jr, Frampton, Jhonny Gonzalez, IBF champion Lee Selby (Matchroom Sport), Josh Warrington (Matchroom Sport), and even Scott Quigg(Matchroom Sport) to work with at the weight.
With Nicholas Walters' slip up, Haymon is basically positioned to now have access to 3 of the 4 titles at featherweight.
Personally doubt that this Rigondeaux rumor is true, but even if they prove to be true, I don't see the move doing anything but giving Haymon an opportunity to have Rigondeaux as the unified kingpin at 122 (Santa Cruz and Frampton moving up leaves the WBC and IBF 122 titles vacant, and Quigg possibly moving up leaves the wba 122 title vacant as well. Rigo has the WBA and WBO belts, the IBF has their top two challengers vacant at the weight, and the WBC would seem to be inclined to purse a further unification fight, were that to come about).
Rigo picks up the vacant IBF 122 title, picks up the WBC 122 title, and then gets plugged into "bum of the season" fights, for as long as he wants to fight (in co-feature or "carryover to the support channel" type of fights); he's never going to be a star, but that's kind of understood at this point.
Calling them out is publicly declaring you want to fight them. He didn't ask for a catch weight either. Something tells me you are not capable of being rational about this.
I was actually having an argument yesterday similar to this. Rigo has called out Loma and Walters, but at a catchweight of 126. If Rigo has no intentions of moving up, then he should stop with calling out bigger fighters. Caribe promotions is always talking smack about Walters and Loma on their twitter page, but they want them to go down for Rigo lol.
As for this news, awesome if true!! Rigo will be 35 soon and he needs to get moving. It's a shame how his career went. I remember when I heard he defected, I was so damn excited. But who knows, maybe he'll do a Hopkins and keeps fighting for at least another decade without loosing too much.

This is simply the rumor of the week!
Some of you may not realize it, but rumors like this originate on this site. The way it happens is someone on this site will create a thread asking a question or speculating about a topic like this. A few months later, some lame ass journalist or wannabe with a website will write about the same topic or tweet about it as if the idea is brand new to him. He will claim to have acquired the information from reliable sources. Of course, the sources are always anonymous.
If the tweet or blog turns out to be total bullsh.t like 95 percent of them are, it doesn't matter because the originator doesn't suffer any consequences for telling the lie.
I have seen this happen at least 300 times (no exaggeration) since I have been posting on this site. At least 100 of those times involved some alleged news about negotiations for the Mayweather/Pacquaio fight.
