POLL IS MULTIPLE CHOICE SO THAT PEOPLE MAY CHOOSE WHAT THEY FEEL IS A FAILURE AND A SUCCESS AS WELL. What would you consider to be a successful PPV number for GGG - Lemieux? What would you consider to be successful numbers? What would you consider to be a bomb? What would you consider to be VERY successful numbers? This is not about how many sales you think it will be able to get, I want to know what you think it will take to be considered a successful first foray into the PPV area for a fighter who has no build in fan base in the US to draw from. It's not easy to build a poll on this but I think this will be OK. Open to suggestions if anyone has them.

With all the hubbub about the new RING P4P rankings, I decided to take a look at their regular ratings and was stunned to discover that of 17 weight classes, 10 of the RING titles are now VACANT! That includes SMW where their new number 2 P4P fighter, Andre Ward, is not even ranked in the top 10. What is going on over at RING?

No, that is not a mistake. Murray will be fighting his third fight in THREE MONTHS since moving to 168 on Sept 5th. against an opponent yet to be named. That will give him more fights at SMW in three months than Ward has had in FOUR YEARS. Something is seriously wrong with this picture. The way he is going, Murray may end up fighting for a SMW title before Ward gets his ass back in gear. Maybe we will have a Ward-Murray fight somewhere down the line? That would be interesting. :)

Mayweather won the magazine’s junior middleweight champ when he outpointed Canelo Alvarez in September 2013. However, that was the last time the pound-for-pound king fought in the 154-pound division. According to THE RING’s championship policy, a champion will lose his belt if he does not schedule a fight at his championship weight for 18 months (even if he fights at another weight). Mayweather, who still holds THE RING’s welterweight championship, has fought three times in the 147-pound division since beating Alvarez – decision victories over Marcos Maidana (twice) and Manny Pacquiao.

Really gotto love HBO. The Kovalev fight will not be broadcast on HBO Canada tonight because Pascal is on the undercard and that is enough to make this fight a PPV here in Canada. What a load of bullshit!!! I guess that means one more nasty unsatisfied customer email to HBO Canada.

What a total bust. Ward on BET scored 325 thousand viewers with a 0.09 demographic rating to finish in 71st place in Saturday's cable ratings list. Yes, that's right... 71st PLACE! That's downright embarrassing and worse ratings than even Lara got on Spike! The Lemieux fight doesn't even appear on the top 100 list at all. Carl Froch has been dropped from the Ring Middleweight rankings as well as the P4P list for inactivity. Uchiyama moves into the 10 spot and everyone behind Froch moves up a spot. In the Super MW rankings, everyone moves up a spot and Callum Smith moves into the 10 spot. There were other changes in the rankings as well but I will not list them here other than Beltran being removed due to his drug test failure. Check the RING website for the rest. Yes, you read it correctly! Taylor has finally been removed from the RING top 10 Middleweight rankings. Numbers 8, 9 and 10 all move up a spot with Lemieux being added to the rankings at number 10. A long overdue move. All they need to do now is to drop Quillin down the rankings from his current ridiculous number 3 that he in no possible way deserves.

In case anyone is interested...

I only joined here recently so could someone with more experience on the site tell me how long it will be before we can get back to discussing boxing instead of only Mayweather or Pacquaio? A week? A month? A year? I guess I will start by taking a one week break and see if things calm down. Right now, there are more Floyd and Manny threads than there were before the fight. The fight is over and done with. It didn't live up to the hype. It couldn't live up to the hype. Nothing short of a death in the ring could have made some people happy. Get over it. Move on. :dead:

There have been a few changes in the RING P4P ratings this week. Froch moves to 6 from 8, GGG moves to 7 from 9, Kovalev to 8 from 10. Bradley drops to 9 from 6 and Marquez to 10 from 7.

30 years ago today, possibly the best first round action in boxing history. Compare the action in this fight with Saturday night's Lee - Quillin fight and see what a middleweight championship fight should be like. These were two warriors eager to fight, unafraid of anything or anyone. Willing to take punishment to give it in return. Not the two tentative, fearful boxers that were in the ring on Saturday. This is the kind of boxing match I grew up watching - I was 28 when this fight happened. And the amazing thing is that the commentator for this fight was Al Michaels who also did limited work on Saturday's PBC show. Hagler - Hearns!

RING have finally dropped Sergio Martinez from their Top Ten rankings. Chris Eubank Jr. has been moved in to the number 10 spot and Andy Lee has jumped up to the number 2 spot, moving Quillin down to number 3. 4 and 5 remain the same and everyone from number 7 to 10 moves up a spot.

Yup, LSC will fight on the undercard in a non title bout. WBC SUPER BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPION LEO SANTA CRUZ TO PARTICIPATE IN MAY THE 2ND MAYWEATHER VS. PACQUIAO EVENT April 13th, 2015. The World Boxing Council Super bantamweight Champion Leo Santa Cruz will fight on the undercard of the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout at the MGM in Las Vegas this coming May the 2nd. The promotion requested of the WBC sanctioning sphere, a voluntary defense of Leo Santa Cruz's Championship. The WBC had scheduled Santa Cruz to defend in June and as this request was so close to the date of the event, the WBC has recommended and approved Leo Santa Cruz to compete in a non-title bout, in order to protect integrity and satisfy safety measures, which is the top priority of the WBC. Leo Santa Cruz will make his mandatory defense of the division after this non-title fight on May the 2nd.

Just a question that popped into my mind after watching a Rocky marathon over the past weekend and watching footage of Leonard - Duran right now on YouTube... When did they start using rings with four ropes instead of three? It looked odd in the Rocky movies and was wondering if anyone knew when and why they switched to four ropes from three. A bit of a change of direction from all the PBC threads lately. :)
