His resume is outstanding.
He faced:
Oscar De La Hoya 2X
Vernon Forrest 2X
Winky Wright 2x
Fernando Vargas 2X
Luis Collazo
Miguel Cotto
Ricardo Mayorga
Antonio Margarito
Floyd Mayweather Jr
Manny Pacquiao
Saul Alvarez
Outside of Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga all of those guys were prime when Mosley faced them and all were top guys in their respective divisions. One of the best of his era and will be missed.
I like that, opportunity to win a belt back.
How do you think Devlin does in this though?
Stylistically, who do you think takes it and why?
Obviously the styles favor Cotto and Delvin doesnt have the best defense in the world so Cotto will hit him at will and come foward behind his jab. But considering the options for Cotto at the time is a good tune up/stay busy fight.
WHY? PAcquiao almost killed him and Money dominated him.. Not interested in any of those fights.. Cotto is not in their level..
Jaja Mayweather didn't dominate **** and I am not interested in having your trolled ass here so take a leak.
My guess is that he will return in December in New York against Martinez, Chavez Jr, Cornelious Bundrage or Victor Ortiz. One of those four wil be his next opponent.
I say retire, He fought everyone, sure he can go ahead and fight Sergio at 154 but I dont think he can beat Sergio, so there isnt really anyone else to fight and they wont put Canelo in with Cotto, so the only option is to retire or fight Sergio then retire. Cotto is young but he has been in some serious wars.
He said he will fight for 3 more years. At this point he is without question the 3rd biggest PPV star in boxing. All his fights from now on are guranteed to reach 400K + no matter who he faces and the rematches against Maweather and Pacquiao are still there for him in the future.
if cotto could make 147 i would love this fight. above that it is too much to ask of marquez.
Problem is Cotto cant make 147 anymore. 149-150 is the most Cotto can come down. Maybe Marquez grows in the next few years and 150 doesn't look that big of a deal.
In what world would that ever happen?
Is a dream fight but don't be shocked if it happens one day. Is not often you get the best Puerto Rican fighter of this era facing the best Mexican fighter of this era. It would bring millions and millions of dollars.
what does cotto gain by fighting ortiz, chavez jr or bundrage? not alot in my opinion. cotto is at the stage of his career where he might aswell fight martinez. if he can get the win then that does alot for his record. if he doesnt win, he fought the best and gave it a good go.
Well against Bundrage is a tune + he gets the IBF belt and sets up a unifiucation next year against Canelo. Chavez Jr is a chance to get a belt in 4 divisions and Ortiz well Ortiz doesn't bring much and Cotto would be a heavy favorite so is the least likely of the 4. I think Martinez is the biggest fight he can make in terms of legacy, is a huge fight if Cotto can get him down to 154.
.....stupid post.
I'm on phone so I can't dissect it and tell you why its stupid. Just know you failed pretty hard
Go watch his fights against C level fighters like Katsidis and Diaz then come back talk with the big boys. I love Marquez, he is great but don't let the Pacquiao fights fool you.
If it's going down in December... I'm putting down on a ticket ground level... can't miss this ****
From what I am told Cotto told them to call back in september and offer him the big bucks. But as of right now there is nothing set in stone and Cotto's team is looking at other options like a move to 160.
Didn't even know he was a Rican, thought he was Mexican.
After the Pac-Bradley fight, Garcia was one of my choices to be Pac's next opponent if he beats Khan. But the TR-GBP rift, that wouldn't happen.
Garcia did great.
Lol everyone thinks that but yes he is a Rican.
Cotto dont want none.
Cotto wants that overrated bum but just not in September. Cotto calls the shots he won't leave his vacations to fight him in Vegas.
Easy fight for Marquez.
If Juan Diaz can give hell to Marquez than Garcia who is a bigger puncher with better boxing skills can do better. Marquez is great against Pacquiao because of his style but if you look at his other fights he can be beat.
You could say they are horrible at matchmaking but is a 50-50 thing. Ortiz and Khan have let them down in all the fights that could have taken them to the next level.
Mayweather is going to fight Khan, if Khan beats Garcia of course.
Cotto is going to fight N'Jikam probably at a CW for the WBO MW title.
Pacquiao is going to fight a 4th JMM fight.
Thats the way I see things going but N'Jikam is not a safe bet to face Cotto in December. For Cotto to fight him the WBO must first strip Pirog and N'Jikam agrees to a catchweight. Cotto-Bundrage is a fight Cotto's camp are considering along with Kirkland but the dark horse right now is Carlos Molina.
Sulaiman is on record saying the winner has to choose WBC POS greenbelt or get stripped. Personally I think Danny and his dad should tell Sulaiman what he can do with that trash belt.
The WBC is going to find a way to give that 140 strap to either Josesito Lopez or back to JMM. I'm on record calling the Canelo, Chavez Jr, and Morales "gift" belts. I call Josesito Lopez because the WBC holds no leverage on JMM, Lopez on the other hand he'll do whatever Sulaiman says. Haymon will follow the dollar signs and terrible defenses every time.
Juan Manuel Marquez is loyal to the WBO from what I seen over the years so I doubt the WBC will find a way to hand him the belt. I think Joseito Lopez or a young mexican will end up getting it. Garcia should keep the WBA one.
Not right now IMO. Khan lost to Peterson and got KO by Garcia so he needs to go to the back of the line and earn his way back. I want Garcia to go after Maidana or even Judah in the undercard of Cotto's next fight.
He can be but Dulorme right now is the top prospect out of PR. I still like all of the young guys coming up like Garcia, Dulorme, Mantquilla, Camilo Perez etc.
