Tony "Cruiserweight On The Run" Bellew.
Guy beats a past it David Haye coming back from Florida partying for one last fight to pay the bills and thinks he deserves a title fight.
Only moved to heavyweight cos the opposition at cruiserweight was going to go up a gear.
GGG won.
For long spells of the fight he had Canelo cornered or blocked off on the ropes.
He was in charge of the movemnt on the canvas for most of the fight.
He was landing hard and regularly, largely the jab I know but the jab os still powerful and he was setting off combos from his jab too.
Canelo had a great fight too. Landed a lot and lasted the distance well.
**** Adelaide Byrd but hey at least we got s definite rematch and a potential trilogy here.
They need to ****ing hype this.
I'd rather he get his IBF mandatory out of the way and fight Pulev. I don't want to see the Whyte rematch.
Same.
Wilder Fury rematch for Cinco De Maio weekend in Vegas?
It’s a HW fight between two of the best so it should be held at wherever generates the most money, plain and simple.
Sure the crowds are bigger and more electric in england but arent their tickets much cheaper or somesht like that? Lol. I dont give a sht if 90,000 people show up and their tickets were like $30.
It needs to be in America, probably Vegas.
Vegas is the best place I agree. But AJ Vs Klitschko the cheapest seats up in the rafters were £40 that's $50.
Then it's like £60, £80, £100, £150, £200, £400, £800
Right up to £2000 ($2500) for VIP
Remember that's £ not $.
I get all that. I fully understand that the American market is much bigger than the British market. But it all depends on the fighter or fighters that dictate the size. Joshua has already got the British market nailed down, he is a god to them. Wilder though??? Those numbers from his last fight were very disapointing, those numbers show a real lack of star status. Worse than that is the numbers have been higher in previous fights.
So its always a gamble putting a fight together hoping it sells but on this occasion we are talking about mega numbers but its quite clear Wilder nor Joshua are standing at anywhere near the level of the likes of Floyd, Manny Pac, Canelo. I also dont understand how such a mega fight is such a huge fight that EVERYBODY will buy it in an evening but if its on in the afternoon NOBODY CARES.
AJ Wilder should be a 2 fight deal, one in both countries but all i keep hearing out of Wilder is that he refuses to come to the UK to face him.
Surely the best draw would be the first fight in the US and the second fight in the home nation of the winner of the first.
And in case of a draw...in the UK.
???
AJ is going to look ridiculous fighting little short blob Ruiz.
Ruiz will do much better than people think, and I fully expect AJ will come away from the fight looking bad even if he wins.
There's a lot of muscle under that fat!
No! What has he actually achieved in the pro game? He was meant to be a skilled amateur going into the pro rank with a silver from the Olympic at 17. The Olympic brought him instant star status in the UK fair enough, but since he turned pro he has been a huge disappointment IMHO.
He beat Maidana...and was and remains the only British boxer to move out of the UK to train full time in the US, with US management, since Lewis.
Fury looks to be following him at a much older age.
The most entertaining way to build two great fighters of a generation is to get them to fight a trilogy.
Leonard Duran 2 was bigger than the first one.
That fight just showed the inexperience and stiffness of Joshua. I was a big AJ fan. Love to see a phoenix rise from the ashes, same reason I like Fury.
And AJ seemed like he could move pretty well Vs Klitschko but I forgot the Klit is pretty stiff.
Even Parker gave him problems. And now his chin is questionable and his power.
Ruiz Vs AJ will be an interesting rematch but I count on AJ. Still his flaws are worrying.
Fury Vs Wilder 2 will be great
For me, Wilder is number one. Despite my support for AJ and Fury
every ranking had it that way before Ruiz made AJ quit tbh
Before Breazeale/Wilder then Breazeale was higher I'm sure.
After that he took a nosedive.
Miller was highest ranked opposition in America. Breazeale next then Ruiz
i was just thinking if Wilder & AJ were fighting tomorrow nobody would be mentioning Parker. He's fighting Parker tomorrow and all the talk has been about is Wilder vs AJ since the Ortiz fight. Hearn is selling BS.
These AJ fanboys would let AJ sh*t in their mouth if he told them Wilder had to smell it.
Did you call in?
Let's hype this for another 6 months and THEN get a damn trilogy out of it.
If AJ defeats Parker, his next fight is against Povetkin, nearly 100% certain. Plenty already discussing it in Russian media as well. Easy fight to make and tons of money behind it.
I think Povetkin will be AJ's toughest fight... if he wins, possibly Wilder then, or Fury depending on his shape or some voluntary.
If he loses to Povetkin... the odds for Wilder fight go up exponentially.
This.
It's why Povetkin is on the undercard. The winner of his fight with Price will probably be the mandatory for Joshua. And he pretty much has to fight a mandatory next especially in Eddie Hearn's plans. And of course Povetkin has a bit of power. Unlike Parker. So it will be a better test of his chin and his defense.
But right now. I can see Wilder is the only man that is almost certain to defeat him. If AJ beats Wilder it will be his proof as a champion.
But the more I look at AJ's legs the more I imagine them not being able to recover from one of those straight rights from Wilder.
lucas browne is a legend....just light on his feet....his hands are like lightning....not only a top 4 hw...maybe a top 20 p4p guy depending on who you ask
what dillian whyte was destroy a true pro...a true A level world class guy...whyte deserves it man...pipe down....browne got battered!
Lol he wasn't even boxing full time from what I heard he was a nightclub bouncer!
Wilder has Dibella and Finkel in his corner. If they aren't business savvy then who is? The problem is Hearn. Hearn isn't his father Barry.
He's a loudmouth. Talks when he needs to keep his mouth shut.
But he does make things happen.
Theres a reason fights fill stadiums over here.
he wont be able to duck wilder forever...the public pressure will mount
hes not going to let hearn back him into a corner and let hearn make money off him when hearn has treated him terribly.....wilder can get by without fighting whyte next and do his own thing
eventually the public will demand it and the pressure will be on hearn
So what possible opponents you got for Wilder whilst AJ ducks?
And for what kinda reward?
Wouldn't you prefer boxers do this like grown men and work together to harvest the greater potential worth?
You must be the most retarded person out there. Funny thing is that you don't even realise why what you just wrote is stupid.
I know, cos he's a champ he can't be a mandatory.
It would still push home a point that you care about the division as a whole and not one belt or body.
lol
Jousha is doing a Riddick Bowe, its sickening to see people defend him and want him to fight Fat Baby Miller over Wilder
Too many nuthuggers.
You just need to take a look at Wilder to see why he's running.
The biggest reason is that AJ needs to hold onto the belts after he unifies.
He has to fight a mandatory before he fights another unification or else one of the straps falls away and the dream of unifying the heavyweight division flies out of the window. So it will probably be Povetkin.
Another reason. AJ has not fought a decent power puncher. Again Povetkin pops up as a good test for his chin before he fights the most dangerous fighter on the planet.
I am an AJ fan but Deontay is going crazy up in here. He needs to chill the **** out and deal with the situation in a mature fashion.
In my opinion Wilder can KO Joshua. And either he will knock out AJ in his unique style or AJ will knock him out after a tenuous boxing lesson. I can't decide which will happen as both have the power. And both have touched canvas or got shook recently.
In terms of Hearn. He made a dirty move pushing Dilian Whyte forward.
But somewhere I got this idea that maybe he wants to put AJ and Wilder on the same card against different opponents to hype the big fight.
If that can be done it would be a feat of promotional genius in this era.
And it would get US promoters very very jealous and angry.
how do you expect wilder to deal with things in mature fashion? hes being played with by someone that doesnt want the fight
hearn has been talking since last year...yet has never sent any numbers or any draft of a contract....hes never even come close...he told finkel in decemeber he'd look over the numbers and get at them.....and finkel hasnt heard from him since
wilder planned to go over there and get things going....and then hearn and company whined to make sure he couldnt get near the ring...so wilder went home...and as soon as wilders plane took off hearn puffed his chest out and flapped his gums
what do you expect....hearn hasnt handled this in a mature fashion for one minute....
I totally agree that promoters are *******s. And Hearn is the biggest on this side of the pond.
Deontay doesn't need to fight any mandatories. He doesn't need to fight who Hearn tells him to fight. That's Wilders angle.
And if Wilder can get the AJ fight by beating Whyte that's good enough.
If AJ is not on the cards at all then it's time to keep knocking people out from the other sanctioning bodies rankings list and making yourself a mandatory too.
That way he can't duck you forever.
He's not massively technically skilled. He seems like a typical heavyweight contender of the Klitschko period.
He has no KO power at all.
But hes got a solid chin.
Not a big deal at all.
Best chance he has is going the distance and winning on points. But AJ has the sharper technical ability of the two and a power advantage.
Nothing to do with Joshua fans more to do with WBC rating him No1 contender for there title, Its quite simple to work out.
Wilder doesn't need to fight another mandatory for a year since he beat Ortiz.
Seriously.
With the gift that Wilder has he should be looking to retire in the Mayweather level of earnings. And the one thing that is wrong is that he just isn't business savvy enough to see what he can earn and what he is worth and how he can make that work.
He is worth 50% Vs AJ in my book.
Did he have any complaints about traveling when he lost the purse bid? What fighter has he fought that would've made more sense to fight outside of America?
Those 2 drugs cases changed the face of the division.
Its sad.
I don't care about their legs or Whyte. Wilder Joshua needs to happen. Whyte wasn't even in the picture until he won. Wilder has a year before he has to fight his mandatory. And we don't know if the WBC will make Whyte fight an interim fight with Breazeale. Will they put Joshua's name on the contract? Meet Wilder halfway and then we can discuss Whyte. But nothing happens before Joshua Parker.
In full agreement.
