wow... this shít is getting out of hand... this is what happens when biased fans enable a fighter to continue being delusional... i was rooting for jmm, but i wouldnt cry robbery.
• nacho claiming the worst robbery in 52 years??? that statement alone proves how delusional their camp is.
• going into the 10th/11th round assuming victory when the unwritten rule is the champ gets benefit of close rounds.... big mistake
• do we automatically assume jmm won the round because pac didnt dominate the round? is this the same case when ortiz "won" rounds because floyd didnt completely shut him down?
• pactards complaining about the foot stomping technique should go choose another sport to ruin.
• marquez was NOT running.... but he wasnt exactly bringing it to pac either.... its hard to justify winning a title by sitting back and waiting for the counter and then easing off during the championship rounds (even floyd turns up the offense and walks his opponents down towards the end of the fight, so why couldnt jmm?)...
• pac showed frustration and impatience during the fight, clearly he expected a war... not a chess match (his fault for not forcing the action better). bad strategy....
• pac claiming "he clearly won" is pretty weak
• jmm whining it was a "robbery" is even weaker. the dude actually thinks he won BOTH previous bouts CLEARLY. even roach and pac admit it was close... why cant jmm?
BTW, i scored it a draw initially (leaning towards a jmm SD victory).... no way was it a "robbery".... but after watching the fight again numerous times, i noticed pac landing more than i thought. did he land the cleanest shots??? nope... but for every jmm counterpunch, pac landed 2-3 decent shots of his own during each exchange. i can honestly say, i can see why pac was gifted the decision... BUT for the sake of the trilogy and the importance of the fight, it shouldve been a draw... jmm deserved credit for putting the champ in check.
for jmm to consider retirement reminds me of hagler retiring after the leonard loss.... it would be a sad day if jmm retires.
Who do you think you are, bringing thought, rationale, and logic here?
A no name??
This guy was the 2004 Ring Magazine fighter of the year (when he KO'd another 'no-name', and is one of the most respected people in the business.
He does deserve, and will get his say.
Froch should demand the fight in Nottingham or atleast London. He is the champ and after fighting taylor in america, kessler in denmark and abraham in europe he should fight at home. Johnson is a no name, a replacement who only beat up on that joke of a fighter called alan green.
Sorry, but age has plenty to do with being past your prime. The older you get, the further you're past it. You can't win arguing against that, so don't even try.
Umm...unless you are in your prime the day you are born, you could very well be getting closer to your prime as your get older.
To the thread starter..
There are PEDS that can clear from the body in a matter of hours. The Mayweathers consulted Victor Conte who actually recommended a 5 day cut-off. Pushing for a low cut off date is more than reasonable.
I personally think what this boils down to is people wanting to see Floyd whooped so bad, they don't care if their guy might be juicing, because no one in their right mind should not want all fighters proving they're clean.
Thank you for at least trying to address the actual question, but, I am not sure that it answers it.
Say Pacquiao is tested 14 days out, and is clean. What could he possibly take from day 13 to fight day that could make a difference, if it wasn't in his system on day 14??
When I hear the Mayweather interviews, it sounds as if they are hinting towards something specific.
I found him to be unlikeable from the Pac / Marg preview shows even before he ever made the comments about Freddy.
That being said. The kid has some skills, and looks to be coming into the fight in pretty good shape.
Looking forward to it.
i hope he gets KTFO for makin fun of roachs condition
Whoever starts a thread like this one, gets a red K from me. Flomos or pactards, I don't care.
Sorry guy, neither, others like yourself start the 'mos, 'tards debate.
I couldn't care less who is right or wrong. It just seems that Mayweather's camp has something specific they are targetting, and I am wondering what that is.
I realize it is their opinion, but, that opinion has garnered some support, and seems to have been a significant factor in a potential blockbuster fight not happening.
For an opinion to have that kind of impact, shouldn't it have a logical basis behind it??
His bulk can't help. A lot of O2 and blood being fed to those muscles.
Also, he really doesn't have any flow to his style. Tense defense, flurry, tense defense, flurry.
Ward dives in and closes tries to eliminate space, land a few shots on the way in, and tie up whenever he finds himself at an uncomfortable distance.
That is what makes his fights somewhat frustrating. As soon as the fighters are in a good position to trade, he darts in to tie-up.
Headbutts are inevitable.
It has worked for him, but, it isn't pretty, and he shouldn't be surprised when a guy like Frock isn't just willing to accept it
As a professional, it is his job to be ready.
To we really want all scheduled fights to have an asterisk beside them?
(* will take place if both fighters are ready)
It was, to the best of our knowledge, his commitment which he didn't keep.
No free pass.
Odd, Rios and Margarito were making fun of Roach's Parkinson yet you're saying Rios brother suffers from an illness/Condition? I don't get it, you'd think Rios would understand the **** ppl go with through illnesses if his brother has what you said. He is getting a little better as a person tho if he is helping charities .
The more I see him, the more I believe that this kid has a pretty good heart, and wants to do right. It is at least unquestionable in the ring.
With the Parkinson incident, I think he got caught up in following along with a guy (Margarito) who was being identified as a role model for him.
He has admitted his mistake, and hopefully learns from it.
I am willing to give the kid a pass on that one, and will let him keep trying to improve himself in and out of the ring.
He has quality guidance from Robert Garcia, but, he will have to start being accountable for himself.
No but sometimes you have to open your opponent up and take some more risks, Haye didn't use his legs as much as you are making out, Wlad just wasn't throwing because Haye was almost always in a position to counter, and wlad did not want to risk an exchange. I am not cricising him, but to become the superstar he wants to worldwide he has to produce more exciting fights and action even if he leaves himself open. The way he fights does not capture the imagination, he has a winning formula but he needs to tweak that a little and become more exciting, or people will not remember him for the great fighter that he is, they will remember him as being a boring fighter, which is a shame. Maybe Haye wasn't the right fight, but from now on he needs to really step it up and destroy his opponents within 6-7 rounds, not pick away at them until the latter rounds, it is not good enough!
Wlad is making excuses and so is Steward, Haye was in range on awful lot and he was just as hesitant as ever. It was like the excuses Roach and Khan were making about McCloskey, it is up to Khan to find the openings, but they both complained about how defensive he was. Thing is I will let Khan off because he just came off the fight of the year. I would like to see Wlad step up, I think he has it in him he proved his chin against Haye to a certain extent.
If he is clearly winning the fight, I don't think it is up to Wlad to take the risks.
One guy accepted winning and didn't take risks, while the other accepted losing, and didn't take risks.
It was up to Haye to try to find a way to win the fight.
Who is going to be in Vegas for the fight? I'll be there from May 4-10 taking in the city and enjoying the atmosphere. Who else is coming out?
Will be in Vegas May 3-8. No luck on tix...yet.
Still trying to figure out where I will watch the fight otherwise.
Had a chance to spend some time with Emanuel Augustus after his last fight. Couldn't have asked for nicer guy. He was very, very humble.
I think Glen Johnson has to be thrown into the mix for his class both inside out outside the ring.
strange..angelo dundee was white
Poking fun? Calling him an Uncle Tom and White Collar at a time when racial tempers were at a high in the US (both lies). Dude slandered the shi t out of Joe and has never apologized to this day.
Ali apologized to Marvis after the fight. He has also apologized in interviews. He hasn't though apologized face to face.
Didn't kow about that. Maybe it was Joe's low profile and humble demeanor that Ali was attacking at that time. Similar to the personality attacks that Mayweather and his fans say about Manny.
Frazier was being backed by a group of largely white Philadelphia businessmen. I think that was to a large degree the catalyst for Ali's comments.
strange..angelo dundee was white
This one is a tough one. When Ali became friends with Malcolm X, Malcolm X was a separatist, and black supremacist, but, Malcolm X was starting to move towards shifting his beliefs towards integration and against racism.
I am willing to give Ali the benefit of the doubt, that he sincerely thought he was doing the right thing, in an issue with a pretty hazy grey area.
A fighter can walk at 140, weigh at 140, and fight at 140.
A fighter can walk at 140, weigh at 129, and fight at 140.
Exact same muscle mass and conditioning, but a lot less water at the 129 weigh in.
His point is legit.
Please don't EVER mention such irrelevant dribble in a conversation concerning boxing.
The amount of muscle-mass and conditioning that you take into a fight is SOLELY determined at the official weigh-in, and has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING at all to do with fight-night weight.
That's kinda dishonest bro if you understand boxing.
Had a chance to spend some time with Emmanuel after the fight, as I was at the same hotel, and he was hanging out in the restaurant.
Needless to say, he was an absolute pleasure. No bitterness whatsover, and seemed to really enjoy relaxing, and talking boxing.
Emmanuel's whole camp, "Team Augustus" were great guys.
Anyhow, when the subject of his 'retirement' was brought up, he didn't seem to be very committed to that at all.
Don't be surprised to see the Drunkin Master announced as a last minute replacement sometime in the future, where he will of course, pour out his heart and soul.
I thought that Kayode showed two glaring weaknesses against Ianuzzi.
He didn't exhibit any ability to counter punch, choosing rather to guard up and weather the storm.
Also, he had chances to cut off the ring and isolate Ianuzzi, but, instead he just let him out the back door. He was having trouble handling the movement, but, when he had a chance to negate it, he didn't.
Parris' lack of power will really hurt him later on. It hurt him against Augustus. It's a shame because the kid has skills. I'm talking real skills, like how they do out in the midwest.
You are right. His hands are quick, they just aren't that heavy.
Pavlik didn't look to have a lot of passion against Lopez.
I have to wonder, with everything going on around him if he is having trouble finding the will and passion to battle.
As the fight got closer he may have been looking for a way out.
How exactly is a negotiation deemed 'official' or 'unofficial'?
There has only been one official negotiation, Mayweather agreed to EVERYTHING, Manny would not agree to random blood testing without a 24-day cutoff.
Team Mayweather claimed that a 14-day cutoff was still on the table even after Arum announced that the fight was off.
They could have accepted a 14-day cutoff, and we would have already seen that fight. Anyone who attempts to justify why that negotiation fell through and why Manny would not submit to RBT is a childish idiot.
was it televised?
I was there. It was the fight right before Bradley/Alexander, so I would assume the camera's were rolling.
Pretty sure it wasn't part of the HBO broadcast though. May have run on Sky Sports in the UK?
Could very well backfire and just provide more motivation for Ortiz.
I have to wonder as well if Floyd is familiar with the "Glass houses...throwing stones" saying.
Now all pacROID has to do is get over the fear of needles lmfao . Oh wait doesn't he have tattoes ?? I don't get it hahahaha
Give the dead horse a break.
Manny Pacquiao has never said he was afraid of needles, despite all of the sources you reference.
He has stated that he does not want to have blood taken close to the fight.
Distinctly different.
Getting his case behind him...
"I had some case, some bull**** about some woman. A woman who hit me in the head with a lamp in my condiment. I got a case. I got to go to trial. For what? She should be going to trial. She hit me. I didn't hit her. I feel good to get it behind me. To be honest it was all bull**** anyways. How are you going to charge me when somebody hits me with something I own? I don't understand that."
What?
PBF is sure lucky to have somebody as eloquent as Roger speaking for him.
