Their is nothing wrong with taking it, You dont necessarily need it.
If you want to add it onto your food for flavor then that is fine, their is nothing wrong with that.
Garlic will do no harm except leave you with bad breath as leff has put it.

You need carbs after a workout as it is your main energy source, You can use a powder but I would just find it in natural food sources.

Spinksjinx, tell me how much whey has your protein powder per 100g? Because If I look at those products they say pure whey, they still have like 25g whey per 30g.
