I have no idea why? People try and make out that it is more difficult when being a underdog.
Thats exactly right the under dog has nothing to lose and everything to gain, look at the condition every opponent came in at, one could argue it was near the best shape of their career, they all lifted fighting Floyd, the only guy ironically to get freezed out by the pressure was Manny because he carried a Mountain also and he was over nervous, people dont realise the pressure they both carried in that fight.

I think Floyd used the hate he was getting as motivation thats what drove him in training, few ever trained like Floyd did he was an animal in the gym.

Mayweather was more eroded as a fighter than Pacquiao by the time that fight came around 'After Maidana II, he admitted that his performance was not good 'He made remarks that he felt weak and flat or something along them lines'.

The favorite vs Underdog factor is also something I have brought up concerning Joshua vs Fury.

Tyson Fury has never been favorite at elite level, when he faces Joshua? This will be the first time universally, people are expecting him to win. He was the underdog vs Kiltschko, Haye and Wilder twice. Before the rematch with Wilder 'British reporters where completely petrified for Fury'.

Fury for the most part of his career was 'The prince of thieves', but now 'He is the king'.

How is he going to deal with it? Fury has been in this position once before vs Kiltschko during the build up to their rematch.

Note: I still make Fury favorite to beat Joshua, and I think he should win on current form.

Im actually leaning towards Joshua I think he is boxing great right now very tight and sharp may the best man win .

Yeah its hard to imagine living these guys, the pressure to perform is immense, few could do it I think most mortals would be Andrew Golota when he had a panic attack during the ring walk.

We love hate them but one thing for sure they special people.

Has Floyd ever took a risk like going a great fighter, a bigger fighter, a fight where the circumstances were against him (ring size, gloves, arena, etc.)? I give Floyd props for going against the bigger ODLH at a weight class he wasn't used to. That was a great win that propelled him as the face of boxing. After that, I'm not sure if Floyd took any major risks.

When I think of major risks, I think of SRL going up in weight after retirement to face the Great Marvin Hagler or Ali fighting Peak George Foreman in another country. Or Teo facing Loma when as a young green fighter.
The problem with your question is your judging your opinion based on outcome.

All you need to do is check the odds before each of his fights. Once you do that, then you have the answer as to if he took risks because fighting people favored to beat you would have to be a risk.

For instance the Corrales fight. Corrales was favored going in. Floyd destroyed him.

As for size, every fight above 140 except Ghost, Manny and Hatton, were fights where he was the smaller guy.

As for great fighters, I think we can agree Manny, jmm, cotto, canelo, Shane, odh and Genaro will be HOF’ers at some point.

He fought lots of champions and top contenders and took a risk every time he fought a top guy. He won all those fights because he is an excellent fighter who is always in top fighting shape. Every very good fighter he fought was a risk for him to lose the fight.

When Floyd became name he never took risks. Never fought people that people thought floyd couldn't beat.
Fighting old dlh, ssm, small pac, drained nel o and green don't look to me like someone wanting greatness

There is always a risk everytime you step in the ring.

Corrales, Castillo x2, Oscar, the Maidana rematch, Canelo were among the biggest risks he took.
