No, DAZN is a joke.

This isn't a problem with "boxing." This is a problem of DAZN not knowing what they are doing. Don't blame boxing for that.

According to Canelo Alvarez' lawsuit; Golden Boy are not living up to their contract either.

DAZN is acting ******. The best thing to do is resolve and learn from 2020. Does DAZN want to act naive about elite level approval or are they in the business of circus shows? They cant even appreciate the ownership of Jacobs and Kovalev on their back catalogue.

The best resolve is to give Canelo his 8million difference from what he agreed; the 30% cut. Which is 24million for a “premium shows” and acknowledge that Smith and BJS are premium fighters.

DAZN needs to forget about $17mil which is what they want to give Canelo for Smith and BJs.

So all this hassle is 8million give or take. DAZN is acting ****** if they can’t resolve this for the time being.

Just give Canelo the fight at the premium $24mil and take back their list of the UFC fighters because they are seriously taking the piss should they take that to court.

DAZN would ideally not have even entertained such a ridiculous list.

Then in 2021 everyone should sit down and revise the contracts.

Your solution is a good one, but unfortunately DAZN is run by dolts who are most interesting in putting on freak shows than in building their boxing brand. Even when they put on a good fight like Kovalev vs Canelo they make it clear that a fight between a couple of rank amateur Youtubers is more important. And as much as I admired Oscar as a fighter in his day, he has become a laughing stock -- a buffoon of sorts. Canelo and the public are better served if he cuts ties with both of them, and the sooner the better.

Canelo is asking the court to rule that he can "participate in bouts arranged and promoted by en****** other than Golden
Boy Promotions."

Canelo could have sued DAZN and GB without asking for that. But instead he is asking the court to void his contract with GB. That's not doing a favor for GB

The only way Canelo can LEGALLY get out from DAZN is to file against GBP because there is no direct contract for Canelo and DAZN as there is with GGG and DAZN.

By Canelo doing this, GBP can also take DAZN to court regarding interference for “sole discretion” about approvals. What experience does DAZN have with matchmaking and building a star? It could be perceived that if Canelo gets out of DAZN he is helping GBP out of it too.

All parties want a resolve. This is Canelo’s attempt to have DAZN take him or GBp more seriously.

Canelo is being utterly self centered, indefatigable, which implies he care not for the overall health of the sport which has bowed and sc****d to him on many occasions.
The standard was initally set by European football stars who willingly took pay cuts along with back rrom staff to keep the game on life support.
DAZN had no idea this pandemic was coming, no one did, and most reasonable people realise what was is not what is.

If the P4P rankings included depth of character then Canelo would be outta there. Selfish f*^k. He's still going to be receiving megabucks for fighting just twice a year, and only once a year is he expected to fight someone who is respectable.

I don't care who he fights, as long as it's against an opponent who isn't on their way to journeyman or heavy bag status. The GGG fight doesn't interest me anymore as Golovkin is nearing 40, and Canelo has his number, do it will be entertaining but a decision for carrott boy.
Saunders, or Smith are decent opponents, as are Charlo, Munguia, Andrade, and a whole host of young fighters.

But we know Canelo will pick according to the Mayweather business model: Get ém while they're coming off a tough fight, make weight demands, dictate everything from ring size, to gloves, referees, judges, ring walk, and even what toilet paper is to be used.

I hope the bum loses and has to cough up most of what he's earn't in legal fees - that will force him to take the riskiest fights for the biggest rewards - unless he is happy fighting Ryoto Murata's and Rocky Fieldings until retirement.

DAZN brought in a bunch of incompetent execs who knew nothing about boxing, and no surprise - they made bad deals.

DAZN thinks that Oscar De La Hoya and 2 MMA fighters (Masvidal & Khabib) are A+ level "premium" opponents. Never mind that Oscar hasn't fought in 12 years and the last time we saw him, he was fighting at 147 and getting TKO'ed by a smaller guy. And never mind that the other 2 guys aren't even professional boxers.

No, this isn't Canelo's fault. He is under no obligation to cuty his purses. Other companies had language in their contracts that covered unexpected events. DAZN chose not to put that in their contracts, so it isn't Canelo's job to do that for them. All Canelo is doing is insisting that his contract be honored.

DAZN never knew what they were doing, and now they're paying the price.

There is no force majeure in DAZN's favor in Canelo's contract? Got a link to the contract itself anywhere? That's very surprising, but even so you can still claim FM even if its not spelled out in the contract. In some jurisdictions it can even give you more rights than the clause.
