if there's nothing in the contract that says they can cut money due to "an act of god" type event then DAZN needs to stfu and just pay him his $280mill and let him walk.

DAZN will abandon boxing altogether after all this. watch and see. this relationship is finished.

Just because a contract says one thing does not make it right. Canelo is probably using this as a way out of his contracts with both parties but it still makes him look like a diva.
Contracts are not about what is right or what is wrong! They are about the legal obligations of all signatories to the contract. To coin a phrase, "Contracts are not in the right and wrong business, but in the business of what is legal and what is illegal." It isn't right that banks can foreclose on widows if they are in arrears, but it sure as helll is legal and very enforceable.

I think the term DAZN used (according to the article) is "premium". I would imagine, in DAZN's view, GGG, UFC fighters, ODLH or even a random YouTuber would be considered "premium".

I don't think anyone could argue those opponents (with exception of GGG) are "elite". Elite opponents would be Andrade, Nicole, Beterbiev with BJS and Smith a notch below them.

DAZN is looking for whatever will draw subscriptions in the US market. It's why you had youtubers fight as main events. It's unfortunate, I love the idea of a streaming service that provides me fight cards of varying levels throughout the year. I was excited about the potential of DAZN but there were warning signs of trouble and desperation fairly early.

Both have titles and are undefeated. GGG has losses on his record, and barely beat Dervy, so how is he acceptable for full pay, and not the undefeated champions?
My guess is name recognition. I don't think DAZN is looking at who is the most deserving or who is the most dangerous opponent. I think they want the opponent that will generate the most additional subscriptions.

I think GGG's buzz is gone, especially after the fight with Dervy! If Canelo vs. GGG III is going to sell, I think GGG needs a KO in his next fight!

Precisely. And this is simple, for everyone else denying this simple truth.

WHO would have already signed for DAZN?

                Hardcores.

WHO still needs to sign up?

                Casuals.

Casuals who watch someone like Usyk fight are not going to pay to see that guy again unless he's in there with someone like KSI who is going to press the action and at least make it seem exciting.

Hardcores don't like or agree with it. That's fine. But it's the truth and you know it.

Thus, to get more subs, they have to go after casuals. And casuals are not going to sub if they don't get the so-called "circus" fights.

ggg is probably thinking, yeah u messed me around in the past, u robbed me on the cards, u went missing for a while, u tell everyone u are the better man, u got caught with illegal in your body, i'm not too unhappy with your problem now

GGG was in 2 PPV cards cards which were promoted and hyped events. He was promoted by HBO before their demise. He even was in an Apple commercial of some kind and presence in advertisements. There is name recognition still.

His buzz may be gone among knowledgeable boxing fans who have watched him look shopworn recently but the casual fan still knows who he is more than BJS or Callum Smith. Sure, it would look great if GGGG was showcased and got a hilights reel KO to set up a Canelo fight but I think DAZN is in a situation where they want a fight that generates revenue now. Don't forget that they pushed back the start of Canelo's fight with Kovalev just to eke out a few more subscriptions from people finishing up the UFC PPV.

Get your facts straight.
Any source on this? If he is making 0 money off endorsements or merch, where is the money going to then? If he is willing to take a pay cut on the minimum guarantee then why is he suing? The article made it seem like he is suing because DAZN does not want to pay him the guarantee.
